look man i know 450rs run hot because i have one but you really need to rejet, if you add an air filter and an exhaust system you need to get new jetting too lol.
yes i know the choke was on....but that doesnt mean the header should be glowing orange when its sitting there idling..what do you think its gonna do when you ride it wide open...if he rejetted that problem would most likely go away
What do you ride? Any 450 with just about any exhaust is gonna glow orange when it's idling with the choke on. My z400 even did with the stock exhaust. Rejetting is not going to make this "problem" go away.
I did read the comments and I agree that if you have the level of skills required to race in that class then I guess money dosen't really matter much.
He uses this bike for local races and practice so he can usually go one season on one or two rebuilds, as for the cost om not sure, i think its around $450 since he is sponsored by a honda dealership but im not sure.
Biggest POS yet seriously man i bet i can take u with my 440z that thing looks like it doesnt stand a chance on the track and flames r popping out of the exhaust-SHIT!!!
If you would have read the comments and description before making yourself look like a jackass, you wouldve found that it is not my quad and found out it is running rich wich helps to keep the engine together longer. And he finished 2nd in state A class, 1st in reeds racing A class, and 3rd in WPSA A class on this "POS". Search for Landon Smith 2006 highlight video to see him in action.
usually when fire comes out the exhaust its bad because when my yfz450 was about 3weeks old it started doing that and then a week later i took it to pismo beach 2 drag it and it poped the engine but i got a new engine so dont matter.
That bike has an HRC cam so it needs rebuilt every 15 hours of ride time, but since its his practice bike he runs it a little rich to help get a little more ride time out of it before rebuilding it.
I have metal heel guards and I broke the welds on those. I also broke one right off. Thats why I wonder why you see guys that race do not use heel guards.
I got the 2004 version but bought it just at the end of 2003. My friend owned a 400ex and we used to race in a gravel pit all the time. He now owns a 450trx and I think I might get a kfx 450r.
Yamaha is junk, his brother had a yfz and it always stalled in the air and ive had a yamaha bike that blew up befor it was even broke in because a screw backed out of the butterfly valve in the carb and after rebuilding it and again before it was broke in a valve guide broke and let the exhaust valve come down and hit the piston wich needless to say shattered the piston so i traded for a suzuki Z400. So in my experiences yamaha is the "junk".
No, this is his practice bike so other than an HRC cam it has stock internals. I'll get a vid of the race bike as soon as he can ride again, its the one with a built engine. The race bike runs a 14.5:1 compression ratio, he doesnt ride it much because it needs rebuilt so often.
sweet, iv got an '03 Z400 myself. its got a K&N filter but not a lid and its piped. if you have an '03 model GET YOUR FRAME GUSSETED! Mine broke on me, even if you have an '04 to current year the gusset still helps.
What are you talking about? The only thing wrong with it is its running rich to help keep the motor together longer, and its running on bad 113 octane fuel because we didnt drain the float bowl at the end of the season.
shit poor job with the jet kit bro

haha yeah really rejet....you really know you got a problem when its idling and you can watch the pipe turn colors
apfendler06 4 years ago
the choke was on so it was running around 1,500 rpm and its purposely running rich to keep combustion temps down
BURNSURVIVOR725 4 years ago

my 450r just idiling will run the exhaust red due to thin header material
userx100 2 years ago
Rejet before you burn it up. Glowing header and flames shooting out the exhaust might look cool but it means your jetting is way off.

what the hell is the point in riding a quad that you have to rebuild every 15 hours?!? tis a waste of money

the bike in this vid has pro armor nerfs with built in heel guards and those welds broke and had to be welded back onto the nerf.

the fuckin head pipe is cherry red its runnin rich ass hell 2
deamonboy181 4 years ago
It is a bit rich, but the main reason the header is red hot is because the choke is on so the RPM's are elavated.
BURNSURVIVOR725 4 years ago
sounds good to me

are you crazy, that is not good for the quad, and this quad broke cigueñal bearings

the bike is running rich, when it shoot orange or red flames that means the jetting is rich. if it shoots blue flames then the jetting is lean
