  • Thanks for the video. How far are your HDMI cable runs? Do you experience any problems with long distance hdmi?

  • @SpicyNachoFilms For long video runs, We take component HD from the camera and convert to HDMI at the ATEM switcher using an Component to HDMI converter (Check Amazon)

  • Hi, Just wondering how you've synced your audio to your video? I'm using a Edirol Roland Digital mixer to run audio through and to pass into the ATEM Television Studio via it's AES EBU audio input and there's a massive latency in audio sync.

Just wondering how you're running audio into your unit and if it's in sync? Thanks

  • My church is considering the ATEM television studio for our internet streaming ministry, we also want to send the video to LCD screens in the lobby. Have you noticed any audio/video synch issues (video and audio do not match)?

    Thanks

  • Thank you verry much for this Video!!! Is it possible to integrate a Blu-Ray or DVD as source from a HDMI input?

  • @ducthongstudio. Blackmagic Design is very helpful. I suggest that you contact them.

  • @newmediaforministry I contacted them over w a week ago. Still waiting for a reply.

Maybe I'll just rent a tricaster for my upcoming shoot.

  • Great explanation, thanks

  • Good Day sir.

I am the senior pastor of our church. We use the Atem TS. We use an 8 core Mac Pro 2.4ghz. But the Media Express seems to work horridly for us. Have you had issues with it? We want to record live via ME and edit for broadcast in FCP X. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Bless you

    Pj

  • @christlovemins Be sure you have the latest version of Media Express. Also, in your preferences, select an encoder other than Uncompressed, which igenerates files too large to manage. We use the "Apple TV" preset which captures at 720p. ProRes422 also great for editing, but files are also large. Final Cut Pro X .m4v and .mp4 video. This format is fine, especially if your final output is for the web. If best quality is needed, go with ProRes422 all the way.

  • Hi, Does it support analog ??

  • @ sergiubs - ATEM sends two video outputs: 1) via USB2 in H.264 format. This output includes audio if AES/EBU digital audio is supplied to ATEM switcher via the a BNC connection. 2) HDMI without audio. In both instances, output is recorded using the supplied Media Express software. HDMI output supports uncompressed recording. Check Blackmagic Design website for full specs.

  • hello, how do you record your final mix output? Can you record it over the USB, or do you need another recorder. What about the output format, can you record the uncompressed HD?

  • @Misanfernando For time sake, I cannot go over the set up, step by step. Call BMD, they have excellent tech support. Regarding the IP, I did discover that you can only use the Ethernet connection when controlling the ATEM device. Make sure to turn off WiFi. The computer used for ATEM cannot also be online, since this creates an IP conflict.

  • Can you show step by step the set up, I'm having trouble with the IP connections, I call the company and they say I have to call the network administrator, please would you be so kind and show how is this done, thank you

  • @joakomoreno You cannot use the H.264 output for live webcasting. Ustream, Livestream will not recognize it. We use the HDMI output with BMD Intensity Pro card for live video webcasting. We use Wirecast and Justin.tv for webcasting. BMD has a device that can convert HDMI to Thunderbolt (UltraStudio 3D) for use with Mac or PC.

  • @newmediaforministry Hi did you try to input the USB H.264 output directly to Wirecast ?

Would it work or do you necessarily need to go through a HDMI to Thunderbolt or HDMI to USB3 converter ?

  • @joakomoreno | For the ATEM TS you will use USB2 I/O to send/receive H.264 stream at preferred resolution. ATEM TS uses HDMI inputs which most cameras have. (Also has SDI inputs for high-end gear). You can import video from Canon via SD card. You will need a digital audio interface unless you sync audio to imported video during post (see other posts). Output from USB2 has latency due to hardware compressing in progress. There's about a 3 second delay from real time. HDMI output is real time.

  • @newmediaforministry - Thanks for quick your answer. I'd like to stream directly from the Canon camera (not with the SD Card). As I can see this is not possible?

The USB2 output, can be uploaded directly to ustream or livestream or should I encode it in another computer? Have you ever test it?

    Thanks!

  • Hi, thanks for showing what you are doing for your church. I´m planning to get the Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio and set it up with a MacBookPro 15" i7 (2011). Inputs: Thunderbolt, Ethernet, Firewire 800, USB-2, Audio. I want to make a streaming of an event (720p is OK). The camera is a Sony NX5 and also would like to test it with a DSLR camera Canon 7D.

    - How do you connect the Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio with your Mac Pro?

    - Do you think the Canon 7D could be supported?

    Thanks!

  • @MultiTalanted - We use all HDMI connections. We convert component RGB from two Sony HDR-FX1's to HDMI to bring into ATEM. Our sources must have same resolution. In our case, all 1080i. We have two other compact HDV camcorders we will also using. The other available digital connections are all SDI, which is common on broadcast/ENG cameras. ATEM does PIP through one of the transition effects.

  • @daKphi - This demo video was captured using HDMI from the ATEM to a Mac Pro with a Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro card installed at 1080i. I could have also captured using the USB2 output to H.264 format, up to 720p.

  • @mboruch - To connect audio, you have to use a AES/EBU format digital audio conversion device like the Behringer ULTRAMATCH PRO SRC2496 (about $160 at B&H). ATEM has a single digital audio input using BNC connector.

  • @newmediaforministry can you show me how to connect from Behringer ULTRAMATCH PRO SRC2496 to ATEM TV STUDIO? I got all these stuff but it is so confusing to connect the audio to the ATEM. I read the instruction but I have no idea how to make it work. Please help if you can Please send me all the instruction to my email: ducthongstudio@yahoo.com

  • Our church is considering something very similar. I have a background in video production, and have been given the task of setting something up. I'm very interested in the ATEM.

I'm curious how you have wired your setup. Are you using all HDMI? How close are your cameras?

Also, I don't believe the TVS supports PIP. Hopefully you don't need that.

  • how did you connected audio???

  • Nice overviev!

Did you record the clip over the USB-Output in H.264 or over an internal Blackmagicdesign-card? I'm asking because I'm interested in how you get the Audio into the recording..!
