The Queen did play an active role in Hawaii in the years after 1893 and even socialized with the Sanford B. Dole and his wife who were childhood friends. Her reason I assume was she wanted to prove herself a friend of America so the U.S. Govt would peacefully restore her to the throne. I am so sad to hear this, because she was put into prison for over a year. Yes, she lived, however, anyone that really spent time with her and knew her personally knew about her illnesses and humuliation. This is a sad approach to our Queen Lilu from only a concept and bone picking, this is only too vulgar. She would never sit with anyone that imprisoned her- would you? And negotiate away the powers of her people, loose their very foundation of their resources which is papa and wakea--hewa.
