You can really hear her love of gospel and soul in the way she sings. Her voice has power to spare here.

There are certain genres, like Gospel, which are mostly sung by Black people, But that has to be essentialy with Historical / Cultural matters. A good white singer can sing gospel Very Well and being Soulfull too!

This was just her natural key in her early years (1982 - 1993), In 1994 nodules appeared in her vocal chords, because the Bodyguard tour was being too heavy, she was smoking, etc., and some songs started to be sung in a lower key, But only after 1996 she became out of her prime (She recorded "The Preachers wife soundtrack still in 1996). Her voice already sounded tired in 1997 "Classic Whitney" concert.

Wow, she was so young here. I remember when her first album came out how astonished I was that that wonderful, big voice was coming out of someone so young and so small.
In 1985 she performed in the rain at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. I took my high school girlfriend and she sat on a barstool and sang for 90 minutes to about 100 people. She was phenominal, Michelle was beautiful and all was right in the world. Incredible how great she sounded. A truly cherished memory...

@ikom35 Whitney is singing Live, as usually (and I made no changes in audio or image parts).
This was just her natural key in her early years (1982 - 1993), In 1994 nodules appeared in her vocal chords, because the Bodyguard tour was being too heavy, she was smoking, etc., and some songs started to be sung in a lower key, But only after 1996 she became out of her prime (She recorded "The Preachers wife soundtrack still in 1996). Her voice already sounded tired in 1997 "Classic Whitney" concert.

With U-tube, you can easily pick up the drastic change from 93 to 94.....
Her voice had gradually changed around then......

i sang this for a performance while playing the piano. she's singing in the 3rd to 4th octave. i sang this at the 2nd octave and lower, im male and i adore this song. Whitney will always be one of the greatest epitome of music.

In 1985 she performed in the rain at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. I took my high school girlfriend and she sat on a barstool and sang for 90 minutes to about 100 people. She was phenominal, Michelle was beautiful and all was right in the world. Incredible how great she sounded. A truly cherished memory...
