Hey thanks for your getting back to me so quickly and I have so much to cover on this topic of tanks just way too tired tonight so asap I will get back to you.
@Zipperhedd You left a very interesting comment hope you don't mind a question or two. What was it about the lease from germany that bugged you the most casuse it bugged me too? Canada has not always been a peace keeping army darling we are strong warriors too. You know I too am proud that Canada has for the most part gone to war and always worked for peace first.
I wish I could move to Canada... I have a partner of 20 years, maybe you know a similar couple that has not yet married and we could arrange to marry those guys, we could then be Canadian citizens! I hope Canadians, and especially gay Canadians appreciate what a wonderful country they live in!
I agree, you want our military help, and then you go and give it to a country that is in worse economic shape than Greece? Come on. Can they pull their share?
I hate to say it, but the UN seems like a front for something more sinister. What country has the UN awarded more awards from the UN, within the past 10 years, for the most improved developing nation? China! Yes, the UN is praising a country with one of the worst human rights violation records in history! The UN also blindly backs the US, overlooking the war crimes the US has committed in the Middle East over the past 10 years. I too want our troops pulled out of Afghanistan. Fuck the US army!
@CyberHangman Here's the part I don't like about Canada. There is controversy with Canada's War Measures Security Act. I'll explain this for those that don't know what that is. When the War Measures Security Act was passed by Pierre Elliott Trudeau in 1970, over 450 Canadians from Quebec were arrested on "suspicion" that they were sympathizers of Front de liberation du Quebec. The excuse for passing that? Provincial labour minister Pierre Laporte was kidnapped.
@CyberHangman Pierre Laporte's body was found in the trunk of a car the day after the act was passed. British diplomat James Cross had already been abducted 11 days before the act was passed. Indeed, acts of terrorism were committed in Canada by the FLQ, but Pierre Elliott Trudeau used that as an excuse to pass one of the most oppressive pieces of legislation in Canadian history. It is this War Measures Security Act that other countries use to attack Canada's rep as peace keepers.
@CyberHangman Of course, as you stated, lots of countries that voted against Canada are indeed guilty of more crimes against humanity than Canada, so that makes me wonder what the UN really stands for. I say fuck the UN and fuck the US; pull our troops out of the Middle East altogether (since even Dubai hates us now from what I heard on the news), and either amend or remove that War Measures Security Act. We need our troops in Canada, defending Canada, not getting shot dead in foreign countries.
@CyberHangman There, my explanation is done. I hope this clarifies a few things for why Canada is getting a bad rep, despite our peace keeping efforts overseas.
Seriously....pull everyone out of Afghanistan. The US can deal with it's own messes. I have a friend out there on his second tour right now and it's such bullshit at this point that it's barely worth the effort...especially since most of it is essentially babysitting for the Americans...
The U.N. is a crock, it means very little, they can't expect to maintain peace anytime they are under armed compared to the population in the country they are serving. The U.N. as an organization for peace is worthless, full of scandal, lack of responsibility, the fact that they wanted nothing to do with the Balkans and the U.S. had to step in and stop the genocide that was going on. The U.N. does more damage than good, they need to reconsider what they are even there for.
@anikinippon I know Babe I hate the UN too but come on Canada is peace keeping! We started it in the 50s we were the only real force in Rawanda that tried to stop the genocyde see "shake hands with the devil" good movie great book. I was skocked to hear the states didn't back us and very sad

Good points. I think the impact would be greater, however, if you took the mike out of the garden hose.

@anikinippon They're a palsy-born offspring of the League of Nations. You can't expect any more from it than it's ancestor.
