As much I loved some of the grunge and alternative of the 90's, I'd have to say it fucked music up to this very day. The 80's and early 90's was full of catchy memorable tunes, but then it became passe to be too "commercial". With the exception of cheesy boy bands, pop had to have a certain "edginess" to gain credibility.
