  • @MrVerzGTP Pretty bold statement considering. Ok. I will play with the grand prix crowd once again. Supercharged cars don't lose power @ 6,000rpm? When did I say that? If you are dealing with a centrifugal than no, they do not btw, but in owning a grand prix I'm sure you think the only supercharger that matters is a roots style charger lol. Gtps are notorious for losing top end fast, not just because of the supercharger, but the gear ratio and the 4 speed auto its attached to.

  • even with a perfect launch theres no way this car would hit 60 in under 5 seconds...if you even said 6 seconds id still have trouble believing it..even with a supercharger the 4 speed auto trannys in these cant put the power to the ground..and even if you can its not worth the money, time or effort to tune these cars.

    All it had was 3.5 pulley, rockers, intake, and a canned tune.

    In this vid it is IC'ed, has headers, 3.0 pulley, and a better tune. So your mid 13 second guess is way off buddy.

  • the fun part is once you hit 20+ lbs of boost.. then there is pretty much no correction... its what makes those turbo cars that are stock at nearly 20psi so great in high elevations.. (32 generally is 0 correction but 20+ is almost none)

  • its basically creating atmospheric pressure by running boost, so the elevation doesn't have as much effect on it.. like you said, the 12psi pulley would only give you like 9 or 10psi.. but still reduces by nearly 1/2 the correction you would get otherwise.

My GTP would also hand you your ass, from a dig or roll. I have already beaten a couple 09 dodge challengers, which are just as fast as your GTO. I pulled 3-4 cars on them. You don't have a clue what you're talking about, so shut your cocksucker, you french fried faggot.

  • I do love ZZP. They have a Twin Turbo GP GT that runs 8.65 @ 158MPH...on a stock crankshaft. It's right there on the site, now I think thats really cool.   • a DA of 6000' equates to 11.78psi of air pressure. Percent loss is going to be absolute pressure divided by absolute pressure at sealevel

    14.7psi / 14.7psi = 1 (sealevel has no power loss so no correction)

    11.78psi / 14.7psi = 80.1% NA (19.9% less power for the NA car))

    (11.78psi + 14.7psi) / (14.7psi + 14.7psi) = 90.07% (9.93% less power or 50% correction for 14.7psi boost)

  • forget for a moment I bought my LS2 GTO for 19K and ran low 13's out of the box and high 12's with 400 bucks invested let's compare MSRP's and 1/4 times to this brilliant comment 2006 GTO $31,250 @ high 12's-low 13's 2004 BMW M3 $47,100 @ mid 13's 2004 porsche 911 carrera $68,600 @ low-mid 13's 2008 porsche cayman S $51,100 @ low-mid 13's 2006 350Z $28,000 @ high 13's-low 14's all of the SRT8 lineup from dodge costs 5K more for the same performance

  • yuuup, a flawless run will yield high 12's and some drivers have seen on the upwards of 109MPH traps out of a bone stock M6 LS2... mostly on average I would quote them as low 13 second cars trapping around 105MPH

  • if you are saying LS2 GTO's run 14's you really need to kill yourself because I ran a 13.3 @ 104 bone stock as my first pass in the car after owning it for about 2 weeks

  • I never race at that track. I was on vacation and took a roadtrip out there to see some family. Happened to be in the Vancouver area and stopped by for a Test and Tune night. I'm pretty sure my best ET was a 13.3 on 10 pounds of boost.

    I always race at Bandimere. So racing anywhere else would be throwing false times out in the public, which I don't wanna do.

  • I looked at my work schedule just now. Took off March 16th - April 2nd. We must have gone late March or something because it was a full 1/4. We took like 5-6 cars down there and we all raced until it got rained out.

  • I moderate a mustang forums and I still call my GTO slow in the street and strip section... there are 3.73 basic bolt on S197's that run mid-high 12's all motor and make my GTO look like a bag of tools... so I don't know where you are getting this picture of me

    there is a fine boundary of a GTP being able to run hard with little money... and that usually ends in 13's... with tons of cash ready to replace everything by all means... have at 12's

    So, in reality, you have spent twice the money I have to run slightly quicker than me. Not saying you wasted money, cause granted, 12's is a damn good time for a street car, but not everyone wants a GTO, people have different tastes...

    All I remember is that it was the 2nd Late Night Drags of the year.Whenever the fuck that was. I didn't go to Oregon to race, I went to see family. Sorry I don't remember exact dates so you can confirm that my car can hang with yours.

  • You're comparing a 4 door saloon FWD V6 3.8 Liter Buick engine that alot of 90's and late model 2000 GM's have to one of GM's flagship LS series engines...I would hope to god that you would beat my modified 3.8 liter with a stock LS2.

    Making a FWD V6 keep up with a 400HP GTO is a waist of money? Come on...I guarantee I spent less overall then you have. Including the car.

    #2 your "V6 3.8 Buick engine" is an engine derived from the fastest american production car of the 80's... so don't try and pull the lowly buick in the corner routine either

    I think it's a waist of money to mod ANY FWD car to drag... could be a GTP, SRT4 or a damn cobalt for all I care,,, unless you think FWD is better for drag racing?

  • ....the L67's in the GTP don't put out near the amount of power of the older GNx motors did.

    Thats like comparing the 5.7 LT1 to a 5.7 LS1...the changes are staggering. The 80's Buick V6 weren't even a series. All about High HP and High Torque. L67's get 30MPG and put out maybe 200WHP...not really intended as being a fast production car.

  • 240BHP compared to 270 something if I remember correctly... it's not that drastic of a drop and still doesn't negate you still have the bulletproof shortblock that the GNX's of old have.... and that bulletproof shortblock is what is letting you push the power... everything else that surrounds the engine and makes the car is what isn't

  • The only bad part on these cars is the transmission. Everything else is awesome.

    Torquey as hell for a V6, heads flow decent for a pushrod motor, hell even the stock catback exhaust flows well down to low 12's.

  • most catback exhausts flow pristine on all modern cars... people just swap them for sound

    I think you are forgetting about the stock supercharger... there is no way it will handle the heat soak if the GTP is running low 12's... which leads to more cooling mods, a race gas tune (cost in gasoline now) and/or a ported M90...

    and then once you do that... or swap to turbo/larger supercharger unit, now your driveline is screwed, CV axles will let go.... tires to plant the power etc etc

    CV axles snap because of too much power being put down. Spinning tires is not putting power down.

  • also, most GM pushrod motors have heads that flow more than decent.... they flow the equivelent CFM of a Ford 4V OHC engine with 2V's per cylinder

    the torque obviously comes from the M90 and it's also what will tear apart the car once more horsepower than the stock M90 can handle is acheived
