" IT " is the most pathetic movie I've ever seen, the book is my favorite by Stephen King. The Shawshank Redemption is perfect (the movie and the book).
My list: The Green Mile, Rose Red, 1408, The shawshank redemption, The Secret Window. Seems like the movies, based on a novel are fucked up. Meanwhile based on short stories are pretty good. Anyway, I prefer reading his books. Million times better that the movies :)
@almightyrisk Well, the album's name is "The Last train to Scornsville" (just like this song's name) and you should be able to download it from somewhere.
Secret Window was based on a Stephen King novel? OMG!!! Why, it's a Johnny Depp movie. What would Stephen King himself will think on next? Writing a new novel that'll one day be a movie.
"Best Stephen King Films"...the most of them aren't really good. The story is always perfect, but the rest doesn't convince me. You can't produce films with the same atmosphere Stephen King's is able to produce with his unique writing style in his books.
secret windows is nothing special movie, you all like it because of the main actor, there are far better movies by stephen kings scenarios out there !
I like all these movies a lot but Stand by me is definitely another one of my favorites and I like that not many people would expect it to be Stephen King :D
Actually there's just few King's movies that are really good. The best are probably The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Myst and The Shining and still the books are way better than the movies, especially because of the great characters and descriptions of their minds.
I love St.King's movies! But most of all his books.I can't stop reading.Reading his books is like you are in a well and can't get out - so i can't stop reading :)
New to posting comments but has been fun tonight, unreal when you start looking at the impact that Kings books have had. Too bad that most of his movies have been done half assed. Gonna be fun when some of the crazy youtube trailers turn out to be major hollywood releases. Just look at what LOTR turned out to be. King has a couple a three landscapes that can and should be fleshed out. Marvel is already on it. Get your popcorn ready.
I completely agree about The Shining and Pet Sematary, after those two movies i couldn't sleep for a week. However, It could have been so much better therefore should be lower on the list, also replace Dreamcatcher with The Mist :)
Shows what a great writer he is...the movies based on his books had the best and most talented actors and actresses in it. Johnny Depp, Jack Nicholson, Samuel L Jackson, Tim Curry, Tom Hanks, Kathy Bates, James Caan, need I go on?
I did a little bit of writting but now hes insired me to right a new book,Alive its about a demoinc puppet takign over this mans life because the real person inside the puppet killed his daughter so he is sent from his mater to kill this family and his friends so I gotta finish write this and get it published
I don't understand why "Dreamcatcher" had so many bad reviews. It followed the book very well. Sure there were a couple of awkward acting moments, but it did turn out better than expected.
@rutgerhauerfan I think it's one of the best endings he's written. When it comes to King, I prefer A THOUSAND times the book to the movies. Funny thing cause usually he does the screenplay.
@rutgerhauerfan what drove me crazy was that the book DOES NOT end like the movie did! The survivors do not all commit group suicide. The story ends with them driving off in to the mist, and it's kind of a hopeful tone. F-ing hollywood screwed it up and made it depressing.
My top 10 favourites are: 1. It 2. Storm of the Century 3. Rose Red 4. Sleepwalkers 5. Pet Cementary 6. Misery 7. Silver Bullet 8. Desperation 9. The Dark Half 10. The Mist
the shining is not a stephen king movie its stanley kubricks, pet sematary is Mary Lamberts, misery is Rob Reiners, carrie is Brian De Palmas, the green mile is Frank Darabonts, IT was a tv series not a movie and was not directed by stephen king, salems lot another tv movie directed by Tobe Hooper, secret window directed by David Koepp and dreamcatcher was directed by Lawrence Kasdan. i guess what im getting at is give the director some credit, the only one king did was Maximum Overdrive
@startmatt09 Very true. The directors do deserve credit for the films. BUT, Stephen King is responsible for the creation of the original stories. Without King, we would have no awesome stories.
I'll have to say, my favourite movie of these was Misery. It wasn't that scary, but the emotion it created was compleatly horrific. In a good way. I mean, I love movies where the things could actually happen, instead of maneating monsters all the time.
Don't know if King would count Kubrick's Shining as his, although it was 1000 times better than the made for t.v. abomination that King himself endorsed years later. My favorite King movie is still Dolores Clayborne, and it's for the same reason that Misery was so good, because Kathy Bates is a great actress.
