Not having been raised Christian, I became Eastern Orthodox in my 20s and was surprised that the Feast of Nativity was one of many feasts, and paled in comparison to Pascha (the Resurrection/Easter). Christmas does seem to be a relatively new thing, in the last few centuries, and distinctly western, and nothing to do with Christ.

I used to hear Klansmen spout this kind of sh** about black people. Sure it was true of some blacks, like what he said is true of some whites, but most folks, white and black are just struggling to get by.
