i don't know what it is, but since i've embraced buddhism as a spiritual path, seeing bhikkhu/bhikkhuni reciting mantras and chanting just warms my heart and increases my loving-kindness ten-fold. thank you for this and much metta to you!

you have just said the right thing unknowingly. these chants warm your heart because you have embraced budhism. we like what we want to like and then we hope that it will lead somewhere. buddha was lord for himself. religions are made around the individuals who have stopped. we kill their spirits by letting overselves be miserable and depandent on someone like budha. free your mind, then it doesn't matter what you follow. yet, biggest catch should be avoided that ego not to be fueled.

Lord Buddha teaches peacefulness, compassion and loving kindness...and it is really a humanistic teaching...

The world will be better place to live in with less aggression both in speech and conduct...
