  • are the jokes effective ? I mean, is there an actual resemblance between what he wants to say and what is actually saying ? thank you !

  • even if he says the wrong word it's only because the mandarin words sound similar, he should forgive a non native mandarin speaker

  • Ahahaha omg this is hilarious because I can understand most of what he's saying cuz mandarin and English are both my native languages

  • It's even funnier if ya know mandarin

  • hahahahahahahahahaha...OMG!!!!

  • This is not tangerine bicyle!

  • OMG lolllllll

  • This is HILARIOUS!!!!

  • Show me your mucus!

  • there's a episode shows that the man in red speaks Cantonese rather than Mandrain. That's why he doesn't speak standar Mandrain.

  • OMG 1:05 "AHYA !! XIA SHI WO LE!!" XD

  • what episode is this?

  • @AznCanadien5 tangerine factor season 1 finale

  • this is an ultimate pick me up, LOL :)

  • Sheldon should just watch Firefly ;)

  • LONG LIVE CONCRETE!

  • Sheldon, 你好。你能读这个吗?我的猴子不住在你的肚皮里。 我没有猴子。谢谢,再见。

  • @doglover6661 according to google translate that says : Hello. You can read this? I do not live in a monkey in your belly. I did not monkey thank you, goodbye

  • @SuperCheesecake29 Close. It means "Hello. Can you read this? My monkey does not live in your belly. I do not have a monkey. Thank you, goodbye.

  • omb when penny says hi and hes like XIA SI WO LE

  • i dare you when you are eating say your monkey sleeps inside me

  • “猛牛”的英译不是很好。应该是“fierce/ferocious ox"

  • He said "xie xie!" like "shay shay!" Ahhh...

  • Comment removed

  • i feel sorry for sheldon the others were like WTF???? im chinese btw

  • lmao i never knew this show is so funny

  • A second what? A pair of underwear?

  • @manchupuvvu that made my day.

  • hahahaha is the stuff in the subtitles actually what he is saying in chinese? I wish I could speck chinese...because I am chinese lol

  • someone translate

  • I think it took me about three times of listening to him speak Mandarin to be able to start understanding it. Oh, silly American accents!

  • I like how he says "xie xie" like "shay shay"

  • @pilot1988 ur so rite. i found this video a little insulting cuz im chinese. the only funny prt was wen penny tapped sheldon

  • Actually Sheldon did not say "Long live concrete?" He said "Long live society (socialism)?" which doesn't make any sense in China either.

  • @links212 it doesnt make any sense? its an irony against the chinese so called socialism which has turned millions of people into slaves assembling electronics for the fat americans and europeans.

  • @paradox95 ... Do Americans use "Long live Capitalism" as a greeting? I'm just saying it doesn't make any more sense in China than it does anywhere else.

  • @links212 no in the US it doesnt :))

  • @paradox95 So... it makes sense for the Chinese to comment on their economic system regularly, but not for the American.

  • @Plyrx08 Don't get political on a vid from a sitcom...jesus man.

  • @TraumStarke Just following the conversation.

  • @links212 I interpreted it as " Matured society?" but either way it does not make sense

  • I hope I can re-watch this episode lol

  • Sheldon was right, Wolowitz needs to stop being such a bad teacher =_=

  • LOL

  • That's racist!

  • @pitot1988 not really, it was actually funnier because I know chinese

  • One of my favorite episodes. I actually understand som of Sheldon's mandarin.

  • I thought y liang zi shing chi was bicycle. I didn't hear him say that.

  • @ninjajesus81

he said Liu Ding Che instead of zi shing che, which is a very very bizzard and rare way of saying bicycle..

  • don't learn mandarin from sheldon LOL

  • its so bad lol except for the scared me part......cept mando speakers dont say aiya lol

  • am i the only Chinese speaking person that finds the red-sweater Chinese restaurant owner's Chinese isn't authentic and is actually quite accented? Or maybe he speaks in another dialect or comes from a different region, but i really think his English is better than his Chinese hahaa

  • @ohyeah0418 Haha :D In the show he says that he is from Sacramento (California). Hehe :D

  • @ohyeah0418 The old man only spent the first 10 years of his life in Hong Kong (where they speak in a funny accent in my opinion), but he's basically American

  • @ohyeah0418 You are the only one, yes. For Chinese is not a language ergo one cannot speak Chinese. There are two main dialects. Mandarin and Cantonese, and a whole lot of other "little village" dialects

  • @MarioHc4L lol obviously i'm not the only one because a couple ppl liked my comment, so they probably agree with me..

  • @ohyeah0418 not very surprising if he was born and raised in America.

  • @ohyeah0418 yeah actually in one episode the restaurant owner says he's from sacramento...

  • @ohyeah0418 As a native Chinese speaker, I don't have a hard time understanding the Mandarin he said ("擤乾淨鼻涕後,快走快走!") . It's not heavily accented in my opinion. But you're right, it's not as fluent as his English, either XDDDDDDD

  • @ohyeah0418

of course it is not authentic he was born in SACRAMENTO! haha

  • It must be pretty hard to act with a foreign language :x

  • OMG THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!

  • Show me your citrus peels=给我看你的陳皮.

  • So 长寿石灰 is 长寿社会,

    and 蛮牛 is 朋友,

    What about the others?

  • hahaha I am dying of laugther man. Literally crying. I have seen this episode like 10 times, but this clip still fucks me uP! ;D BITI ZEINA!

  • Some Chinese fans tried to figure out what those random Mandarin sentences are all about. For example in the university cafeteria he said "long live concrete" to an Asian girl, which might be "long live socialism" cause in Mandarin "concrete" (shi hui) sounds very similar to "society" (she hui). But still he was saying it wrong...

  • Sheldon should've just spoke English to the manager of the Chinese restaurant.

  • @picard94 then it wouldn't be funny......... :)

  • "your monkey lives inside me!" HA! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha HA!

  • Could anyone try to make out what Sheldon was actually trying to say (that makes sense) in Mandarin? For example, why did he use 梅毒驴子 to greet Leonard or 长寿石灰 to join the table? Was it simply random?

  • @7seanchan obviously it's simply random. Even he talked to that fella in the restaurant, many oxen on my bed.

  • @michaelcky90 actually I thought he may be referring to 朋友(peng you) friends which sounds quite similar to 蛮牛(man niu) oxen. So he could be trying to threaten the restaurant owner that he has many friends at his place? Anyway thanks for response.. doesn't really matter.. just out of curiosity!

  • @7seanchan I just thought that he said all of the mandarins randomly, haha. none of them are really logically related to the scene when he said the words. except the 吓死我了. hahaha XD

  • the most accurate thing was what he said at 1:06

  • Mei Du Lu It Za....

I seriously dont know what he said till i saw some one wrote it down in chinese..

  • He speaks bad Mandarin! xD

  • knowing mandarin makes it all the more hilarious.

  • Since Sheldon is gay n real life, he should have said instead to the restaurant owner "给我看你肉棒!“

  • 梅毒驴子 , hahaha ! Syphilis Donkey. haha

  • Long live concrete. it is 长寿石灰, haha. confirmed it is.

  • Comment removed

  • Mandarin is my second language, and I don't get the "long live concrete?" part.

  • @KL005 Neither do I

  • @KL005 to me it sounded like 长寿石灰

  • @jungleng That makes sense! It sounded like 从所社会 to me, which I couldn't get at all.

  • hai ya!

  • Mandarin can be funny due to the four differents tones. A tone can be the difference between to say 'I like you' and 'I wanna kill you'. Thats why a gave up mandarim and now Im trying English again...

  • LOLOLOL "AIYAH! 吓死我!" had a PERFECT accent. XD

  • I'm confused.

Is Sheldon just too stupid for an intelligent troll to speak Mandarin or is he just doing it on purpose to troll others?

  • @fatimmortal I know that in vietnamese, the accent is everything: an "a" pronounced a bit faster or with another accent can change the meaning of the word. I suppose it's the same in Mandarin. Probably Sheldon knows the words, but can't pronounce them the right way

  • @msinvincible2000 See, the only way to learn Mandarin properly if you're not born into a Chinese family is to learn the meanings of the words after you have gotten the accent down perfectly. A little out of accent and all the words would have different meanings. For Sheldon, the only time he got the accent down almost perfectly was at 1:06 and that was about it.

Personally, I understand quite a bit of Mandarin but I'm not too confident in speaking it in case I get the words wrong.

  • you really need to know chinese to appreciate this cut. ITS AWESOME.

  • 梅毒驴子

  • OMG I KNOW MANDARIN AND THIS IS HILARIOUS!

  • Stick to the Klingon shedon. X'D

  • I think it's funnier for those who ACTUALLY know chinese.

  • @RMPSgal lmfao it is!

  • @RMPSgal Yes it is XD

  • @RMPSgal is the translation correct? I am just taking my first course in Mandarin :)

  • @singalongsong88 yeah, it kinda is, but the way sheldon says it I'm not really sure of some words, but i get the overall idea of what the producers are trying to express :)

  • @RMPSgal I speak Chinese...and I don't understand a word he's saying...but you are right, it is very funny, hah

  • i dont know if i should be insulted or i should be laughing my@ss off....=)))))

  • what episode is this?

  • 啊呀! 吓死我了! lol why is it so funny when Sheldon speaks Chinese

  • WAN CHUN BU MING BAI

  • 1:06 he said :"OH my god, you scared the shit out of me.." lol

  • @HengSaoQianJun AND HE SAID IT WITHOUT AN ACCENT! :D

  • @iTOPfan

    LOL Exactly~

  • @HengSaoQianJun they dont censor cussing in other languages i guess

  • @HengSaoQianJun More accurately its actually "OH GOD, YOU SCARED ME TO DEATH" Cause XIA SI literally means Scare Death.

  • @LazerJet27

yup right, thanx for the correction

  • @HengSaoQianJun He actually did a good job with that sentence!!

  • @HengSaoQianJun PLEASE tell me ur serious!! :D

  • @Roberto7474001

    LOL u bet i am

  • @HengSaoQianJun HAHAHAHAHAHA AWESOME!!!!

  • THIS WAS THE BEST EPISODE EVER!!!
