I don't care if harming civilians causes you to lose memory; it's just funny. I think at some point in the game I shoved one of those women off a ledge.

It's the equivalent of losing health. You can't really lose HEALTH in the game because the events are memories and recollections.

Unnecessary capitalization set aside, no, after a while, the lost memory is reloaded and the bar is refilled.

And since it replenishes over time, why shouldn't you kill civilians for fun? It's not like Al Mualim will give you a "You have failed us again! You must die!" game over sequence. >.>

It takes a while for it to replenish and it sometimes draws the attention of the guards. It's cool to push them down but when you kill a civilian, you usually have to fight your way out of the situation.

altair has weapons on him which costed a lot of money in the real world back then I think thats why.......second it annoys the player to see that he is the only one having a begger following him

yea it is annoying. i was going to get info about my next target and i was pickpocketing one dude in masyaf and out of nowhere they kept following me and as a result i had to fight soldiers and Templar knights. same thing with those drunk guys who shove push you into people but he pushed me in front of a soldier....douchebags but still love the game

it could be that he looks like a scholar and perhaps scholars had lots of money back then i don't know for sure but that's just a guess

You do have a good point shankuverymuch.

I can't specifically say whether it's exact for central asia and the middle east during this time period, but usually in ancient empires and later on scholars/priest/etc. occuppied the top tier of social hierarchy, with or without rulers a part of this as well. It's sort of how the catholic church was in europe. Kings still had power, the church just had a bit more (ex. 'holy roman emperor', etc.)
