Dr. I was told that I needed a hip replacement and where the socket is located there seems to be some diseased bone . What I failed to ask my Dr. was if I get the new hip replaced wont the the new piece just grind into the socket even more /? I'm in the martial arts and I was wondering if I'm going to be limited .
Dr. Sculco, your THP surgeons should train better so that they can perform the Direct Anterior Approach hip surgery, it is less invasive with a shorter recovery period vs. the procedure all of your doctors at HSS perform. Maybe if you buy the right equipment, you might be able to really help THR patients. After seeing 3 of your doctors that only offered the old approach, I finally found the right one at NY Hospital for Joint Diseases. No hip dislocations & no restrictions and minimal pain!
I must be the exception to the rule I had this done on April 8 th and I was doing pretty good but for some unknown reason my hip dislocated on the 17 th of March I was in the hospital flat on my back for the next 3 weeks and I am still having a great deal of pain I can't sleep more than and hour at a time or sit for more than a half hour I am thinking I didn't chose a very good surgeon what do all of you think about all the trouble I am having anyone else gone though any thing like this
