  • border collie's are awesome. I trained my neighbors border collie to find weed. I would stash it in a toy and hide the toy throughout the yard and have her find it.

  • is that border collie

  • Yeah...fine. But can it pick stocks?

  • Chase, go get pop pop a beer.hurry boy...hurry........good boy! :D

  • lol 1:16 dog identifies balls

  • Wow how did that old guy know those items were on the other side of the screen.

  • @slLLyhumans

    Excellent breed, huh?

    Wanna buy one?

  • good girls get the balls

  • Vocabulary of a three year old? I was fluent in English and reading at three. This dog just about knows "toy", "ball" and "circle". And since the tape cuts, there's no telling how successful he was in his circle trial. That could've been the best of hundreds of attempts.

  • my dog can also do that ;P

  • A well trained border collie can easily remember 200-300 words, and can understand pretty complex commands, like "take green ball and put it in the red basket". This video is really basic, and doesn't really show anything that we didn't know about dogs.

  • find dickoi? what

  • That dog is good with his balls.

  • so this is what george senior did in jail

  • el pero obviamente no esta buscando el circulo... esta buscando un juguete .. mal video

  • dog identifies balls

  • good trainer... there is not really such sympathy to dog over all other people and scientists which would made such long tests and stupid recognizing possible - it must be really good man, that such absolutelly crapy tasks are done such quickly and well. thumbs up

  • cute ^-^

  • Dog identifies balls 1:16

  • Find a "toy", those were all fucken toys.

  • how about adding cocaine, bomb, or terrorist in the vocab

  • O cachorro realmente ensinou o velhinho... rsrs

  • one for the dog team and non for the cats

  • yea that's a ball!

  • I have teached my dog to turn on my xbox 360 with it's nose.. Now that could be helpful to find the cure for cancer one day..

  • is it science ???????? or animal training ?

  • great job

  • my dog does this too.....

  • This is very poor

  • That dog obviously does not know the difference between a circle and a toroid.

  • @chodaboy51500

"That dog obviously does not know the difference between a circle and a toroid."

    haha!

  • This isn't that impressive, sorry if my expectations are high.

  • This is just a extended version of "fetch poppop's slippers." Not very scientific :(

  • @Lambyte well yeah, but fetching slippers is amazing too.

  • The dog could join on the game called "Bring Me Something"

  • "Find a ball doggy, find a ball, go find a ball" . . . . . . . . . . . . .HALF THE FUCKING OBJECTS ON THE FLOOR ARE FUCKING BALLS YOU CHEATING OLD FUCKING FUCK

  • meh

  • If course it's a Border Collie :)

  • @HPAbby l was thinking to say that until l saw that comment

  • sorry to say, but I don't see what the performance is all about : if someone would repeat me continuously to bring a ball or any other object I would do it just to have the sucker who think I'm an idiot shut up

  • @vincent7520

its just to prove that dogs can and do learn human languages in terms of being able to comprehend what is being said. Of course you can do what the dog did with more ease simply because you're a socialized human. You have to think about the fact that well we're smarter.. It comes without effort. A 2 year old can do what this dog did, and in fact that's how intelligent dogs are.

  • @lordblazer it seems that you took what I said too seriously !!!!!!…

    :D

  • I dunno man. Tobuscus showed us a video of a dog running over to the fridge, fetching a beer and closing the fridge door.

    Hard to beat :P

  • awzum doggie!!

  • its doesnt matter shes gonna die next year

  • Умничка какой!Правильно,они же все понимают!:)

  • I call BS.

  • dislike becuse chuck norris

  • How do I get paid to do this?

  • We had a dog (poodle) who could identify each of her toys. And she had a lot of toys. Even our actual dog (she has less toys) knows them by name. So I think with some training this can be true for many dogs, if not all of them (ok, maybe some are more intelligent than others, but that's also true for humans).

  • Yeah, uh, not impressed. Toy? Dog could grab anything and it seemed confused. cut to new scene, circle was closest object looked around and didn't seem to know what is was looking for, grabbed closest object. Cry and decoy was right next to it. , cut to new scene, Dog identifies balls? What percentage of dogs know what a ball is, 50%? Half the items were balls. I have seen dogs do much better than this, watch the BBC horizon special on dogs, they have an amazing border collie.

  • @michalchik

Agree. As a dog owner, I didn't find the dog was that bright. Check out this vid

"This is one Smart dog, maybe even the smartest dog in the world" (direct link didn't work)

    Now that is bright.

  • @Ganthor1 That dog was great and demonstrated a degree of control that I have not seen before. I strongly recommend you try to find the BBC horizon show called "The Secret Life of the Dog" It is an excellent program generally and has a dog that is being studied scientifically not only for its 340+ vocabulary but its abstract reasoning and representational thought abilities.

  • I WANNA PLAY "CHUCK IT!!!"

  • forgot too mention, im half impressed, considering that my dog knows his left from his right, and we have a "psychic" way of communicating

  • awesome, now lets see her make dinner?

    (and for the laughs)

awesome, now lets see her cure cancer

  • Good job. Finish the old men now. Good job.

  • Is there not a single newscientistvideo comment where we don't have half-brained monkeys trying to relate every experiment with cancer?

  • ...and scientists believe that this may help cure cancer one day.

  • I wonder if Chase can cure the cancer lord knows none of these scientists can!

  • @edgeidore84 and neither can your god

  • Sorry, but this video doesn't work.

My nine year old cockapoo does not respond to "dog commands" but responds to english speech - at a three year old level. I have never "trained" her to do anything.

    We communicate!

  • 1:20 I bet half of you burst out laughing... ;)

  • go find cancer girl, now cure cancer, thats a good dog

  • its an easy trick. you just teach the dog to pick things in a certain order. he doesnt actually know them by name

  • @damoochie30 actually i think the point of the video is to show that it's a random order

    just saying

  • Probably a U.S. D.O.D. Skunkworks project that cost U.S. taxpayers 9 trillion dollars...

  • Seriously?

  • but can it cure cancer?

  • "Put dat ball in duh tub, yea gurl"

  • Word association. How f**king unamazing.

  • Catch Goose!!

  • I wish my employees were that smart

  • Most people probably don't understand the significance of this video. It shows that dogs can match a word to a concept or quality, although it's unknown whether the dog is able to fetch items it is unfamiliar with. However, if it can, considering that a dog's brain lacks any developed areas for speech recognition and production, this is huge.

Imagine sending a dog into a human-inaccessible disaster area to accurately report back the conditions of any survivors.

  • That dog is smarter than Banana Man Ray Comfort

  • @FLUSEM666 Wow, how rude. How dare you insult the dog by comparing her to the likes of Ray Comfort!!

  • @soulhunger1 Good point. A banana is more inteligent than Ray Comfort.

  • Border Collie, right?

  • Dog identifies balls. LOL

  • 1:16

    Best use of news-captions ever.

  • This is six kinds of adorable. I must read the article.

  • dogs probably thinking fml

  • And this cures cancer how?

  • this dog finds balls..

  • Alex was smarter, and he was a freakin bird, as in reptilian brain the size of a peanut.

  • this dog will cure cancer!

  • Hold up with the celebrations there was a majority of balls in that last clip, statistically speaking, if that dog didn't bring back a ball it would have been blind.

Next time he'll bring it to a mine field and command it to bring back a mine.

  • Okay people, this is a 1:36 second video. For all you people out there writing that your dog is smarter, read the damn article to get the FULL story!!! She can identify ONE THOUSAND AND TWENTY TWO ITEMS and categorize them!! She went through intensive training over three years in a study to see if there was a limit to the number of items a Collie could remember. Geeze.. Bet you Black lab can't do that!! O.o

  • Comment removed

  • my name is chase and I am a male human

  • 1:15 - Dog indentifies balls xD

  • This dog is a fucking moron. I have a black lab that can do the same thing without me having to say the command 50 times. We can say, "Buddy, go get your (ball, blanket, toy, pillow, whatever), it's in the (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room)," one time and he will go right to it and bring it back. And that's like only 1/1000th of the stuff he knows. This mediocre dog isn't news...

  • @PennyDreadfuI Did you even read the damn article attached? Obviously they can't showcase her entire vocabulary in under 2 mins. She can categorize and name 1,022 items. She's much smarter than this teeny tiny video shows.

  • @PennyDreadfuI If you read the linked article at New Scientist, then it becomes more impressive. The dog can identify 1022 separate objects, plus she can also categorise them according to function and shape. Don't doubt your Lab is also brilliant.

  • Certainly impressive but do a search on the BBC News site for "smartest dog" and watch the short video there.

  • Hang on, Woffard College.

    Like WOFFard College.

    WOOF lol

  • my dog could remember specific toys I told him to go grab his burger and he'd go out through the entire house looking for it I didn't even place it anywhere

  • XD

  • i found osama and threw him in a ditch and pissed on his rat nasty face and then made him greet the devil

  • I expected a talking dog that could say: "fetch the damn stick yourself, you threw it so go get it! Woef!"

  • 16 people have a vocabulary less than that of a three-year-old.

  • Border collies are awesome

  • How are WE meant to know which one's 'decoy' ? there are LOADS of items there and for all we know, the old guy could call whichever one he wants 'Decoy'. Also "Find a Ball" is easy seeing as most of the objects down there are balls. You can just show us multiple takes until the dog happens to bring back 3 balls.

    o_O proof plz.

  • Dog identifies balls

  • This dog also can drive a cab. A Vocab. Which is not shown but is pretty good...

  • DOG IDENTIFIES BALLS....

  • Going by the title, I half expected to see a talking dog.

  • @JACEH12I expected it fully.

  • Great video. Great doggie.

    No Sandrine, even better!

  • Bah, that's nothing! Dogs can understand talk as well as kids! Not just names of items, but everyday talk. For example, I could use what ever expression and words about going to a walk, and my dog got it - he went to get his collar and leaches. You could use what ever expression to make him to wait, to follow, to get inside the house.. and he got it. Or you could ask what he wanted, and he showed it! Just plain talk, no commands.

Most dog owners know dogs understand talk. They are real smart!

  • World of HardStyle - 2011 Upcoming Success /watch?v=BR87J06SsRw

  • you can train any dog to do this.....

  • find my dignity, find my dignity..

  • Can't listen to that man, every time he says like "give it to papa" i just imagine that he said:

"Come on, give it to papa... and give it to me gooood, girl." in a creep rapist voice.

Look at what the internet has done to me!!!

  • stupid dog

  • 90% of every option is a toy.

  • DOg Ownage. awesome

  • This dog is smarter than my ex-girlfriend, can identify balls

  • @Saruman1000

    hahahaha

Ok, just with this my youtube day is made, I think I'll go cook something now!

  • @minotarr Chinese Food?

  • @Saruman1000 That's funny

  • is it vocabulary or tonal composition?

is the dog understanding the words or hearing the quality of the sounds and acting on a Pavlovian level?

  • @BeondaPale What's the difference? Yes, I'm being purposefully provocative, but you see my point?

  • @ribblest

Yeah, I do. Good point. I was sort of thinking the same thing while I posted. But I don't think human language could be considered a Pavlovian response to any large degree - after all there are centers of the brain that seem to be wired from birth specifically for language

That being said, I do know that dogs seem to have a rudimentary language as well

  • @BeondaPale Hm... yeah... Maybe it raises the point that matching words (or even short phrases) to actions, wants, object recognition etc., is one thing, whilst the analytical thinking that we humans perform (often with words floating around silently in our heads) is often confused with 'language' per se... Which prompts me to wonder (and articulate in language, har har) whether the dog does ever reflect on anything. It's only the language of a 3yo though... Hm...

  • @ribblest

Lol, I bet they do. Ever watch a dog dreaming? There's definitely something going on there

  • I have always thought sheep dogs were the most intelligent

  • I don't know why but that old man made my day.

  • good girl! now go find the remote!

  • @KhmaiBodian559 Nobody can ever find that.

  • @KhmaiBodian559 I think she hid the remote in the first place because she didn't like what was on the tv, so I'm not sure she'd go fetch it back again.

  • The real test would be to tell her to find a ball when there weren't any left.

  • CUTE!!!

  • HRRNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

  • awww, that's such a cute dog!!

  • Find an ambulance girl, papas having a heart attack....

  • Be cute, be cute, good girl, good girl.

  • Stop sending me fucking video links I unsubscribed from this weeks ago

  • He Steals My VIDEO:O Check my channel!:O

  • "Dog identifies balls"

    Yeah, whatever.

  • How many hours did they spend teaching this dog?!

  • @ogrish84 i think it was aabout 3 years. there is a feature on this in last weeks Newscientist mag

  • They never judge you or have high expectations from you, they just love. the course of human development accelerated greatly after the domestication of the dog. i love dogs and wonder not, why they are called our best friends.

  • "Dog identifies balls" Chaps, we're in trouble.

  • fuck dogs

  • @19may0001 Dude, why?

  • Love this dog

  • I'd rather find that man's grave if I were that dog.

Him repeating himself constantly would drive me mad. :D

  • I'll be impressed the day he'll do it with any Master and any toy (not his) Like a 3 year Old will do.

  • @LUKVANCE

I think that's what the dog does. The first time around, the dog is only asked to get a toy. The master then tells it which toy it is. In the second round, the dog is asked to get specific toys whose names it has just learned earlier.

  • @pr0kris I noticed that too. She seems a bit uncertain when asked to look for a generic item "toy". But as soon as she gets confirmation "put toy in tub", she knows what this game is and is pleased as punch.

  • D'aw, such a good doggie. X)

  • I miss my dog:(

  • dog identifies balls. dogs are really good at identifying balls anyway, especially with the bite

  • is this dog's big vocab going to help cure cancer??! NO, I DON'T THINK SO!!!!

  • @amicusnemini just go and fuck yourself. Do us all a good and kill yourself please!

  • @amicusnemini Are YOU, either? NOOO, I don't THINK so...lolol....moron....

  • @amicusnemini yea, and you - the one who is non-contributing zero to a human kind, are the one who is there to judge the dog, who has outsmarted and evolved more than you by the power of 10

  • yea right i can do that that dog aint smart at all and i can type. owned. besides this does not cure cancer so its not good by default. Word.

  • @kukelz well done u owned a dog. i was a medical researcher we have managed to cure more than 2/3 of all cancers and we are still working on the rest give us a brake

  • @cjtt2 Hehe.. Nice one.. i ask myself : Would a real high educated researcher not have the insight that i was obviously joking? I think you mob the floor at the most over there in that research building. So your kinda busted mister. You Bragging and all... Now fetch me toy or make me sandwich aight? ;)

  • @kukelz yeh i had that insight. shame u did not have the isnight to see i was joking as well as making the point that we are making progress on the matter. actualy if u dont ever want to get cancer there are simple things u can du like dont smoke, drink or take carcinogens. there is also a natural cure to cancer which is very effective i wont explain it techincaly but there is a vitamin found in things like peach seeds which has a bitter taste which will kill cancerous cells. so eat peach seeds

  • @cjtt2 Right... so what about those gold particles huh?

  • @kukelz u want to exband on that?. presumably u mean monoatomic gold particles and the so called wave nature that protects DNA. well theres v little research done on that so i cant really coment

  • @cjtt2

    @cjtt2

There are many stuff out that that kill cancer cells, natural or not. But if you had a basic understanding of medical science then you'll know that a cancer cell killer alone does not mean a cure.

  • @iamnotvaio lol very funny. i think being a medical rsearcher i have better understanding than u. but dont worry i will educate u. there is no cure for the cuase of cancer because there are to many causes wether it is mutated alleles causing an over active receptor or an inabilaty to break down various signaling mollecuels causing rapid cell division. the only way u could du it would be to protect deoxeribocleac acid from ever being mutated which is not possible. only killing cancer cells works.

  • @kukelz go kill yourself with amicusnemini

  • @theshadow170y yo dawg dont make up words aight? Word.
