I love how at first, they look at the rapper like, "Who the hell are you?" and then, after listening to him, realize he's on their side.

I like how the characters react to his presence in this animatic. I just sort of thought he was... y'know, there, before watching this. His presence in the final video just seemed sort of random, with no real reaction. Still an awesome vid though.

It's an animatic, like... A storyboard done by the people who make the Gorillaz videos before they're made. By Official Animatic Promo video, I'm assuming that this is created by whoever draws the Gorillaz.

For every animation, there's a "pre-animation" - called an animatic - based off of the storyboard, to test the scene timing. The animation crew of the music video did this.

Yes, but if you watch closely, some of the other characters have crosses on their chest in back. They are rough sketches, so they didn't bother erasing some of the frames of the bodies.

At 3:56 2D has one on his chest as well, to show which direction his arms should point towards.
