  • I hate the way she tries to belittle Data. You can clearly see she is bigoted to the idea that he is a crew member like any other and not a piece of equipment. It was one of the reasons I just never took to the woman. Thank god for Gates McFadden.

  • Pulaski.....I wish Q would erase that mouth of yours.

  • I liked Pulaski too. She did accomplish specifically what the writers intended her to do: create some interpersonal conflict and not be ridiculously meek and cheery like the other female characters. I think they should have brought her back to do guest spots to create some drama.

I bet Pulaski and Crusher would have mad clashed, and while I like her, Crusher really could have used some interpersonal conflict.

  • At least she earned Worf's respect.

  • HAHAHA! Data you are the best Sir.

  • Ooooohhhh Snap

  • I feel like I am the only one who actually liked Pulaski's character. She had attitude, I liked that. And she wasn't mean or uncaring, she just had a weird personality. Also, I liked her interactions with Data. I felt like she forced him to grow and evolve faster than he would have without her, due to her challenging him from time to time, like with the game in "Peak Performance" or the mystery solving challenge in "Elementary my Dear Data".

  • @suizokukan I loved Pulaski too, she wasn't typical Starfleet and I agree about her forcing Data (or Dah-tah?) to face some issues - I think she did the same to a few others too - and I liked that Worf and her had a respectful relationship, especially in the measles / tea ceremony stuff in "Up The Long Ladder" :)

  • hated that bitch

  • @Pr0Zak666

Still better than "Dr. Beverly boring".

  • Pulaski is extremely irritating.

  • she manged annoy a android with no feelings wow

  • So glad she didn't appear on any other shows, from what I understand she was a total bitch on set as well as her character.

  • Ye-ah! PWND by an android!

  • PWND :D

  • Both my names get mangled all the time. I'll be using this line in future.

  • he totally owned her in that bravo data

  • Pulaski didn't treat like a person, while the rest of the crew did. To her, he was just a walking Cuisinart.

  • my name is DAYTA you fuckin pollock

  • You'll notice that he didn't even look at whatever she was babbling about. He just went right back to what he was doing.

    Like a boss.

  • he should have said

which fist would you like to be backhanded with? knocked out teeth or concussion?

  • Take that yeah bitch.

  • Thank God Pulaski didn't last long. I take Beverly anyday.

  • So. Data or Data?

  • I never liked that woman for the doctor. I am glad she was pushed out the airlock. Dr. Crusher was the best choice.

  • @CarrotsforBananas a shame they cut the last part out!

  • I liked Pulaski. Admittedly just because Data had a LOT of scenes like this with her where he was proving that he was a lot more than she gave him credit for.

Crusher was just plain boring by comparison.

  • Pulaski is quite racist against robotic lifeforms.

  • I like Doctor Crusher

  • @Sismiques Beverly Crusher FTW!

  • @VinnyMonster1

Pulaski was ok, but Crusher was more suited for the show.

    Besides, Gates McFadden is attractive.

    ;)

  • @Sismiques Much more. Plus she was a far better character. Pulaski was the writer's attempts to make a female McCoy, but they only ended up making her seem like a bigoted know it all.

  • @VinnyMonster1

Also i don't like how they try to associate McCoy with transporter fright, eventhough he used them many many times.

Shame Tasha wasn't on the show longer, but it did allow for the expansion of Worf's story.

  • @Sismiques Agreed, McCoy wasn't afraid of Transporters, he just didn't like them. Tasha should have been on the show longer, hell, I think it should have been Troi that got killed instead. I think if Yar hadn't died she'd possibly have become involved with Worf.

  • @VinnyMonster1

They also didn't devealop relationships enough, Picard & Crusher, Riker & Troi.

It was only a few episodes here and there

  • @Sismiques And TNG was far too politically correct. Added to that, Picard, the way he was characterised, would never have allowed Troi on the bridge, she didn't have bridge officer training until the last season. And her Empathy was not much of a tactical advantage, it seemed to be a delayed action form of empathy.

  • @VinnyMonster1

Also, why wouldn't Starfleet look for a full blooded Betazoid to be on the Flagship?

    Be better for reading minds.

  • @Sismiques when you see how betazoids are written, as feminist spoilt princesses, why would Starfleet want them on a ship anyway? They seem either to be up their own asses, or psychotics like the one on Voyager. Betazoids are bad news!

  • Whoa, it's just the way he said it that made me yell out PWND!!!!!

  • I actually preffered Pulaski... just sayin'.

  • Poor Data it's too bad that Pulaski doesn't respect him as a sentient being. Data should of slapped her until she got his name right.

  • I loved Pulaski.. she was awesome. Always telling people whats up. Doesn't suck up to Picard either like the rest of the bridge crew. Probably why Picard had her transferred and brought back his love affair Crusher

  • Data: "You will announce it here or from flat on your back, WHAT'S MY NAME!?"

  • Hahaha. I had forgotten this. Hilarious. Data was very good at putting Pulaski in her place. LOL

  • DATA LOOK AT THIS ...

    you called me DATA

    whats the difference???

    one is my name

    the other is not

    classic

  • Rofl... it's not even a funny line but Brent Spiner just delivered it so perfectly it's hilarious.

  • Which episode was this one?

  • @VONNAIR The one where Deana becomes a hoe (AKA the first episode of season 2)

  • pwnneeeedddddd!!!!!!

  • that is the perfect way to tell a woman to fuck off

  • GET IT RIGHT OR PAY THE PRICE.

  • That is what I called OWNEDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • My mom still won't watch season two of TNG because of Pulaski.

  • That's the thing about Pulaski she was a mature almost authoritarian type. The time of woman who is headmaster at primary schools and is unbelievably rigid and inspires discipline.

The fact that people see this and respond with hate proves just how well the actress played it. You don't have to 'like' a character for it to be a good one. It's the sort of shit old ladies think when they start shouting at a soap star they see in the street....

  • @CmdrTobs i disagree, I dont think the theme of star trek is intended to produce characters thats"hateable."h

And on another note shes the doctor, doctors are supposed to be the human factor, the calm caring type of people. She doesnt really show that for the most part. Its all a cold, precise science to her. And she is way to serious even for season 2 of star trek.

  • @mstevens24 " I dont think the theme of star trek is intended to produce characters thats"hateable."" it's not the goal to produce characters for characters sake. Only childrens TV does that.

The goal is a story and that always has to involve protagonists and antagonists, and good stories draw no absolutes and indulge in shades of grey on both sides. She is meant to be the strict sort, a very common personality type (she is half my teachers at boarding school right down to the haircut.)

  • @CmdrTobs Pulaski was a poorly put character that was not liked. And my comment has nothing to do with me saying that the ent bridge crew are without flaws. Its to say they arent meant to be "hated." Theres a clear difference in what I am saying between the two. People can still be "hated" as a character, but loved as an actor. Pulaski was not one of those people. And I dont believe the makes of the show intended her to be hated character in the first place.

  • @mstevens24 Well I can say I hated her character as it was arrogant and authoritarian and that made her enjoyable.I enjoyed the emotions she invoked in me and I enjoyed when characters made her squirm.

Just because it's a character you want to meet is not necessary to my enjoyment. Startrek needed more characters like this. Gene Roddenberrys utopian vision of the future meant that those flawed Human characters like 'Gaius Baltar' or 'Dr Rush' never got explored, or were farmed out to (1/2)

  • @CmdrTobs (2/2) ...out to alien characters like Quark or Garack which ended up being the best Chars.

Look at this vid,130-7 Likes. Who do you think causes this? Data's Character or Pulaskis? It's Polaskis arrogance which is providing the enjoyment here. Without pulaski this would be another scene of Gordi & Data talking bullshit.

This is why fanboys ruin Scifi. They can't actually tell what chars are good because they assess them on 'who'd they like to hang out with if it was all real...

  • @CmdrTobs Your still missing my point, I enjoy a good hateable charc, such as garak, or Luthor from smallville. I dislike them when there in charc. but I can still sit back and say hey, they are really good actors just playing a role. Like Mel gibson from Payback. But I still dislike pulaski, b/c arrogant for all the wrong reasons. You can think what you want, just dont assume that people dislike just b/c she dissed data, there are also those who dislike her b/c we dont like her acting style.

  • @mstevens24 Not really. It's just cause she hasn't had that time in to be considered fond and legitimate in fans eyes. Had she been in it from season one people would likely be lauding her and there would be outrage of her replacement by one of the dullest characters in television: Dr Beverly Crusher. Apart from 3mins a season of flirting with Picard she has zero impact.

Her acting style is perfect, she is every stiff necked authoritarian teacher I've ever had at school....

  • @mstevens24 It's also interesting to see Dr Rush in Stargate Universe is almost this perfect 'Polaskian' role. TNG was well ahead of the curve with Polski I think.

  • Mr brocolli ,... I mean Barckley liked this.

  • I always really hated that bitch.

  • Data's response should have been:

"How are you a doctor and yet you can't even pronounce my name?! Are you that dumb? How about I pronounce your name Pool-a-skee. What's the difference?"

  • misleading title is disapointing...

  • Pulaski you will never be a Scotty, not even a Welshie.

  • I never did like that bitch. I was glad when bev returned.

  • just how he says that last sentence is just so awesome

  • My dad always pronounced it like that, it bothered the piss out of me. So one day I showed him this. He pronounced it right ever since.

  • Oh, phew. When I read that title, I thought you meant LITERALLY.

    Thank God you didn't.

  • It is something curious hearing this in the original language, also because in Italian dubbing Data tells the contrary: here in Italy Data (the name) is pronounced in the same way it has been written, and in our dubbing Data tells to be called D-A-T-A instead of D-E-I-T-A.

    Guido.

  • PWNED!

  • Always hated Pulaski, the most unsympathetic character of the show. It was annoying enought to bear her presence for the whole second season.

  • Maybe SHE needs an emotion chip.

  • ULTRA OWNAGE!!! he must've learned from Cmdr Riker.

  • I watched this with no sound expecting data to slap her out of the chair and to fly across the room

  • @shizlnit if only :)

  • IF THAT WAS A BITCH SLAP, THEN A REAL SLAP IS A NUCLEAR EXPLOSION.

    TROLL.

  • she was better than crusher by 100000000000000000000%

  • @BarlytheDwarf PULASKI MAKES THE ANNOYING BEVERLY, SEEM LIKE A PLEASANT SEX GODDES.

  • @13AJJONES She always was one :)

  • I liked both Dr. Crusher and Pulaski, but in the end, Pulsaski wins in my book. She annoyed me at first with her apparent arrogance, but her no nonsense attitude won me over. I'm in the minority I think.

  • ...this is how cops check if you have been drinking... because cops assume that every one is drunk... simple... ...and then they will make you repeat your self... hmmm... just to piss you off... especially if you have an unusual name... and after you properly pronounce your name and explain and explain... then they will still just mispronounce it... just to get revenge and to get under your skin... ... passive aggressive mind games.... college degree anal tricks and games to (fill in the blank)

  • ...and the only one who is going to get strangled... is the Russian or the Russian sympathiser... that is obviously living in Finland... hmmm... I just can't wait to start chocking people... with my "bear" hands... hmmm... just wait and see... I know where you live... YouTube gave me your address... hmmm... it's just a matter of time... hmmm... just wait...

  • ... this clip is deeeep... and assburger Russians should NOT be watching Star Trek... ...hmmm... ...see... the Dr. was just testing Deta to see how he responds to a womens voice... and to see if if he is paying attention... HA?!

...simple... ...and Mr. Data just acknowledged her mispronunciation of his name... and gave the Dr. the "time of day" ...hmmm... just to give her what she wanted... hmmm... just a little bit of arguing and stimulating BS... and we all know women love to argue... HA?!

  • god Pulaski is so shit

  • i can here the mushroom slap in this galaxy

  • Isn't Dah-ta a very American pronunciation though? I've often wondered if this is the case, and Data has an American accent, it's Day-ta. Not that I'm complaining; Day-ta sounds much better. Am I being ignorant? Is it regional?

  • @VickiSnickers I'm American and the majority of people I know pronounce it Day-ta. I don't know if it is regional but for this American at least Dah-ta is not the norm.

  • @DataLady09

If Data had slapped the doctor, it probably would've knocked her head clean off her shoulders. His android strength is many times that of a human's.

But, Data has respect for the ladies, even the rude ones.

Still, he should've given her a FAT lip or busted her nose!

If Data wanted to, he could have twisted her up like a pretzel, or snapped her in half like a dry twig!!!

  • Data JUST OWNED!!! So cute!

  • For all of the anti-Polaski comments ... my question is:

And Dr. L "Bones" McCoy WASNT condescending, irritating, arrogant, flippant and rude?

  • @AirelonTrading Here here!!!

  • @AirelonTrading

I doubt he would have treated Data the way she did. he would have at least TRIED to get his name right if nothing else.

  • @AirelonTrading

Yes, about things regarding humanity. Constantly insulting Spock is one thing... He wasn't retarded or ignorant enough to call someone by their incorrect name and insist there's "no difference."

Also, Polaski sucked because of the exact reason you mentioned. She was suppose to be exactly like a female McCoy. That's why she sucked, only Bones can get away with being an ass.

  • Im going to fly the flag for Pulaski!! Too much in western society an emphasis has been put on looks and persona without the substance. We only have to look to the US to see they election that snake oil salesman Clinton. Pulaski was a bit abrupt and acerbic but she was a consumate professional, caring and had integrity. I f you watch the dynamics of the character you will see it. If I had to choose between having crusher or pulaski treat me. Pulaski wins hands down!! Amen

  • @baz2186 Here here, Pulaski rocked!

  • @baz2186

For being so 'caring' she sure didn't seem to give a crap about Data in the beginning. 'what's the difference?' how about we mispronounce your name, Pulaski, and see how you like it? Sorry I don't like her. There's a difference between being wise and respectable and having integrity and caring about people, and being arrogant and snippy. :/

  • Polaski irritates every lifeform in the galaxy.

  • Pulanski wasn't SUPPOSED to be arrogant and condescending. She was SUPPOSED to be wise and respectable. It was the actress who couldn't see the difference.

  • Dr Pulanski sucked. Dr. Crusher was so much better. I'm glad Gates McFadden returned to Next Generation.

  • I'd rather watch a sing-along with Wesley Crusher and Neelix while they get raped by Jar Jar Binks than ever see Pulaski again.

  • @bamapagedesign oddly I find this erotic

  • @Trek001 Moving from topic to topic. Quite hypnotic.

  • @bamapagedesign

    Hillariously true ! :D

  • I actually like her for being a complete bitch. Makes it interesting :P

  • Pwnt.

This is the reason why Pulaski is my least favorite Trek character EVER.

  • Ultimate pwnage.

  • Data's way of saying, "shove it up yours"

  • i'm glad they got rid of that bitch

  • LOL OWNAGE!

  • I never could stand that arrogant bitch, She deserves to be bitchslapped.

  • Dr. Crusher was the eye candy but I liked Pulaski better, she was just a total bitch.

  • I hated puluski for the way she treated Data. He was the best character star trek ever created. If she can't deal with that, she should get of the enterprise!

  • @mushroomshrub It's called "character development"... ;)

If everybody were best friends all the time, there wouldn't be much stories to tell, and it would be boring, and we wouldn't get the chance to see the individuals change and improve. Data isn't the only one to learn and become more human...

  • Priceless. One of the al-time great Data clips.

  • OWNED.

  • I think Data gains more and more emotions throught the seires - although he never get quite human - until the end of Nemesis. However this example just shows his strive for being recognized as a living being.

  • I always thought that she was arrogant. I would have liked to see her slapped.

  • @Artifactsofmars

LOL, put her and the doctor from Voyager together in a room XD we might get our wish! :D

  • "... The other is not" despite not having emotion there's a tinge of annoyance in the way he says that.

  • Data is a bit inconsistant. I find that the writers never seemed to make up their minds whether he had emotions or not. The only thing consistant about him is his ineptness.

I personally never hated Pulaski as much as everyone else does, but she was somewhat rude to him here, and in a later poker scene. If he wants to be called "Day-tah", don't argue with him!

  • Yes it is, but maybe thats how his voice is supposed to be in certain situations.

  • I liked Pulaski, I liked both Docs for different reasons character wise.

If Dr. Crusher were off the ship Captain Picard owuld have been even more of a "surrogate father" to Wesley so maybe that figured in her coming back.

Diana Muldaur had a good run on L.A. Law right after this, so I guess it worked out OK for her.

  • Best Data video ever.

  • The only positive that came from Gates McFadden's absence in season 2 was this. If she hadn't left, we never would've had this moment.

  • Go Data! That witch needed to be taken down; pity he didn't literally slap her. I would've paid through the nose to see that!

  • @DataLady09 Haha, you ain't the only one!

  • @DataLady09 me too!

  • Fucking cow. I love this scene where she's put down, pity it wasn't literally.

  • LOL-i'm laughing so hard at your play on words for this-lol!

  • Thank you :)

  • Hehe, True, True....

Well i used to hate pulaski, but after watching enough of her, i warmed up to her....she really did need to be taken down a peg here though!

  • Heck yeah! XP

One of my fave Data/Pulaski scenes for this very reason. ^_^

  • My name. It is pronounced "Fuck you."

  • HAHAHAHA!!! OMG-NICE!

  • LOLOLOLOL!

  • @MuEpsilonGamma Data really should have said that! It would have been hilariouse!

  • This makes me smile

  • Oh, I hated Pulaski so much, I stopped watching TNG until she was gone. She made me just... furious.

Good thing, Data, go for it! :D

  • Its all Crusher's fault, she wetn away to study or teach or something for a year. (Gates McFadden went on maternity leave).

  • Well, at least she came back :)

  • I HATE Pulaski!!!!!

  • Because of Data, I actually have been saying that to people when they pronounce my name wrong since I first saw this . Thank you, Data!

  • lol more like owned

  • i wanted to eat pulaski's pussy.

  • Owned.

  • God she sucked I waited every episode for her character to die off. I mean Yar was way cooler than Pulaski and Yar was killed off. I know Denise wanted to stop being on the show but still, the writers could have said enough of this lame character and had her fall down a turbo shaft or something.

  • He should have beamed her into space, followed by Wesley... Both were just too damn annoying. Still an epic ownage.

  • lol "The other is not." so matter of factly as he goes about his business.

    DAYta is the shit!

  • Yet another example of how Data is the shit.

  • I thought Pulaski was a good doctor. :)

  • Who says Polish jokes aren't funny XD

  • What a bitch.

  • Does anyone even pronounce Data as Dat-uh anyway? I've only heard people say Da-ta not Dat-uh.Sounds lame. The audio preview does but that's a computer.

  • Only two possible words that can be applied to this situation.

    Pulanski = PWNED.

  • All Picard had to do was have chief O'Brien beam her into space. Either that or leave her to age at a ridiculous speed, I must say, every time they saved her life I screamed NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't think anyone liked Pulanski.

Did you know she was in an episode of the original series as well.

  • I liked Pulaski :)

  • I rarely see Data annoyed. She must be a piece of work.

  • Pulaski sucked! Glad Crusher came back!

  • Haha I love that scene! Epic burn!

  • Bam Bam Bam BIATCH!!

  • "Data rolls over that Pole like a blitzkrieg."

    Best description EVER.

  • i hated her... thank god dr.crusher that hot milf came back

  • Oh, I hear you. However prior to dr. Pulaski, Crusher was quite a pain. "I need to run more tests" came very close to becoming her catch-phrase. :P

  • You are the insult master!

  • OH SHIT BITCH GOT BURNED!
