If you listen carefully that was a controlled engine failure, they were counting down and then you hear "Fire" when the engine fries. Honestly that looked like a very nice test. Being in school for AME training, I've seen far worse tests and deadlier failures.
i saw the doco on this, they had to do this to test something, i forget what but i think it was testing to see how the blades on the fan would hold up if something got sucked into it mid flight.
the airbus 380 has 4 of these puppys so if one dies ur gonna be fine this was demonstarting a fan blade breaking off and going threw the engine to insure no shrapnal flew into the passenger or plane area
I have seen this test before. They put a timed explosive charge in the engine and set it off to simulate a injector failure in the engine. Those engines are built with accuracy and have to undergo rigorous testes before the design is opted for use
there are multiple airplane incidents that the the news doesn't report, but that doesn't make them any less safe, its a lot easier to get killed in your car than in an airplane.
a worker is stuck there!

Dear All,
I have some question about psychology:
*Why do we love jet engines? *Why do we enjoy to hear the powerful, loud and high-pitch sound of jet engines?
*Why do we want to build new jet engine for new aeroplanes?
*Why do we want to be aviation engineers in term of self-image?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!!

and from what that said it passed the test. check it out, it goes for a couple of hours and goes over the whole design and construction process

What a waste, i could have thought of a better way to use it, like attatching it to a go kart of the like - not sure how, but still would be fun
