  • What Hugh was trying to say, "All we gotta do is (#@*$&#($*@$@#(&!!!!

  • Has he learned some medicine from the serie?

  • This song is fantastic. It shows the typical urge of the human being: a simple answer for everything. But there's no simple solution, all you gotta do is.. ?

(oh gosh, my English is getting worse and worse.)

  • Pretty much sums up occupy wallstreet.

  • Funny how it has four syllables, I can think of only one solid word that has to do with protest thats four syllables. Re-vo-lu-tion. And it almost sounds like that on the first one, but it also sounds like hes saying rebel in the streets.

  • You want a simple idea? --separation of state and corporation.

  • There are a lot of good ideas out there. You're not going to see them on CNN, but you can easily find them. You do a disservice to progress by reinforcing the idea that there's nothing better than what we've got. Juvenile.

  • Consternant , Hugh Laurie a été excellent aux côtés de Rowan Atkinson , dans the Black Adder , plutôt bon en Bertram Wooster , assez pénible dans House mais là , franchement il n'a pas la pointure , tout simplement .

  • i expect him to heal someone any second now and then it suddenly ends...

Decision is yours: gifted or cursed!

  • Oh lord Calm down ppl its a comedy song ! Get you heads outta your arses and just enjoy the comedy !

  • I watched two before this, they were like a timeline ... Hey he actually had a full head of hair!!

  • Looks like his solution is identical to Obama's.

  • @lbcjustin You are so right

  • i like it

    <3

  • at times, i don't even think he's commenting on anything. he's just a singer who had a good hook but ran out of ideas when it came for the big payoff (and was hoping the right lyrics would come to him through some sort of twist of fate or divine intervention). a singer with a song without a message. then again, i try not to overanalyze things.

  • @johnpetuka you then don't realize what this song is. he's making a joke.

  • @JustinVillar I know he's making a joke. I was just explaining the story within the joke. I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear. Fry and Laurie rule

  • irony is not for everyone....

  • this song talks about censorship. I believe in you Hugh laurie!

  • @jojamero He's making fun of American songs such as Blowin' in the Wind by Bob Dylan.

  • It's funny because everybody sings about having answers to fix problems in society but they don't actually have any answers.

  • it's easy to stand up and mock. Typical example of British humour which can see nothing but a cheap joke in everything.

The protest songs of the 60s in the USA were part of a large scale movement aimed at changing the attitudes of the country, and hoping for a better time.

Singers like Bob Dylan will be remembered long after this cynical and smug mockery is forgotten.

  • @LatinAmericaStudios Of course Dylan is a legend! And Hugh Laurie reveres him. Laurie points to Dylan as the reason he first picked up the guitar as a teenager. He called attempting Dylan a rite of passage for any young guitarist. He also named his first comedy production for the BBC The Cellar Tapes which is an intentional reference to Dylan's The Basement Tapes. So get off your high horse & get that peevishness out of your ass. He's playing with genre. And not all 60s protest songs were good.

  • @LatinAmericaStudios Maybe the meaning of the song is a bit deeper than you see it?

  • @oeokosko I think it's more like some people think some things can't be joked about. Bob Dylan is amazing, and there were a lot of AWESOME protest songs from the '60s ... but they weren't all awesome, and even the great ones can still be appreciated while you poke fun at them.

  • @Aervane Or it could be that we can still protest but have been neutered (or should that be anaesthetised in front of the telly?) and are powerless to actually achieve any change in this consumerist, resource-raping economy...

  • genius

  • SO PROUD TO BE ENGLISH RIGHT NOW <3

  • Hahaahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!! GREAT!

  • Hugh Laurie for President

  • @mammers11

    PRIME MINISTER*

He's much too British for America.

  • @muffin8or I think you'll find he's just the right amount of British for America. With Vice President Stephen Fry whispering in his ear, there's no problem he could not solve...

"Jeeves, rally 'round. Unemployment's at 9.1%"

    "Most disturbing, sir."

  • @mammers11 -There's that tiny snag of him being British... no biggie.

  • @vaiby You've blindsided me with this piece of information

  • @mammers11 -Happy to help

  • House: Curing patients as well as the world's problems. :D

  • just Love this man so much .Fantastic at what he does...Great voice

  • So damn great, love him!

  • brilliant

  • :DD

  • This guy is just awesome! YEAH:

  • This is better and more honest a protest song than anything John Lennon, Bob Dylan, or anyone else ever did.

  • Couple of screw ups at the start there.

  • This multitasking-man is a real hero and i love him for the rest of my live. Keep going like that Hugh!!!!!

  • We got to .... like this video

  • i knew house can play guitar :D

  • he plays harmonica too?! is their anything he cant do?

  • it would be funny if it wouldn't be so sad =[

  • An englishman perfectly sums up the battle plans of both major American political parties.

  • Okay, best protest song, ever...

  • Two of my friends did this song in our high school talent show. Unfortunately, our class was too fucking stupid to get the joke, so, whenever the singer cut off, the audience yelled "Smoke some weed." God, I hate people.

  • 25 people couldnt figure out what the answer was...

  • All we gotta do is SMOKE WEED!

  • @BeatleJohn420 agree with you :)

  • The most magnificant person I've ever heard or seen of. So much -great- talents!

  • The meaning of life is just one word,* mumble*

  • I love this maan :D he´s briliant. Love it!

  • Kewl this guy is amazing. From singing to acting to singing LOL

  • He's been doing this for something like twenty years, pretty cool to see how that much time improves the bit.

  • Great Bob Dylan parody...

  • Trop top. Bravo Hugh

  • British Humor....Priceless.....

  • The lyrics are so beautiful, and so true that always leave me in tears.

  • Best protest song ever!!!!!

  • LAWLS. btw i wabt to marry him someday. :))) LOVEEE

  • idk but it looks like he's not playing the guitar lol great song though

  • Duno why , but i'm addicted to this song xd

  • @MultiHouseFan Try the Come On Get Happy video from House last night. AMAZING

  • .Oh man, so much talent in only one person. Unbelievable

  • 24 people don't know what is the answer...

  • My favorite song Hugh Laurie is the best

  • great

  • At first I thought he was singing a real protest song, lol. I can't stop watching it

  • "everybody's dieing cept for the ones that are already dead"

Lol Hugh is the best :D

  • How in the world did he get NBC to let him do a song he'd already done on another network? Does the BBC not try to maintain intellectual property?

  • @HeartlessConservativ Probably not. Because 1)it was quite a long time ago at this point, and 2)it might well not be BBC's intellectual property, but rather Hugh Laurie's. I believe he wrote the song, so the copyright lies with him rather than the BBC, I believe. Even though it was performed on a BBC program.

  • @HeartlessConservativ NBC and the BBC have a very close working relationship 2 examples "The Office" and "Dr. Who" on SyFy

  • he's still got it XD

  • LOL, he's amazing.

  • I love this guy he could become a comedian.

  • @nicholsjoshua15 He was one...

  • @nicholsjoshua15 he's been a comedian for a while - search for "A Bit of Fry and Laurie"

  • @nicholsjoshua15 Actually he is one of the greatest figures in British comedy. Many people know him only from House but I started to watch House back then because of HIM.

  • @nicholsjoshua15 Dude, before he was House he had an extremely distinguished career as a comedian. Most people who have follwoed him will unhesitatingly say that his comedic career far outshines his time as House. Go check out Blackadder and A Bit of Fry and Laurie -- the first is widely considered one of the finest comedy sitcoms ever made, and the second one of the comedy duos that redefined television comedy.

  • hugh laurie on SNL was brilliant, i hope they have him back soon. hard to believe it was so long ago already!

  • chords? :D

  • @santospedromr

One of the main parts is really close to The Weight by The Band. That was by ear, but the rest shouldn't be hard to figure out, but I'm tired and going to bed

  • Neil Innes did this idea 40 odd years ago.

  • 23 people didn't get what to do

  • makes funny !

  • do you know charts for this?

  • 23 people feel they stand to lose everything becauses of ibs

  • Nice imitation of Bob Dylan and really funny^^. Heh.

  • his evil eyes makes the song funniest

  • Is there anything this man can't do!! I really do believe he holds the answer to world peace if he could only get a handle on his obvious ibs problem. It must be painful.

  • @doorsgirl100 ibs ? do you think ?

  • @RyanLies Well after watching it a second time, it could be just gas.

  • love him even more now.

  • He really does have amazing range. When one man can go from being a hilariously dense prince regent to the most badass doctor on TV, it's clear this is someone with great talent.

  • @joshaf26 it's called acting

  • @joshaf26 loooooved prince regent

  • why do some people dont like this song? They are stupid. Or very stupid.

  • I share the same birthday with this guy - his limey opinion means less than shit

  • Whatever amazing things he's achieved in recent years, his place in my heart will always be with stephen fry on 'a bit of fry and laurie'

  • Dr. House after cuddy kicked him out the hopsital hahaha

  • Omg he looks like Dr. House!!!

  • he's fabulous!!!!

  • ohhh his look when he raises his eyes..!

  • Wonderful...

  • not vodka u moron ! lager is a beer.

  • Puta que o Pariu!!! Fucking Awesome!

  • God!! He is so awesome, but now he has that look of Dr. House, more serious than A bit of Fry and Laurie xD but he is like good wines ;)

  • Is this from SNL?

  • he looks so hot in here

  • lyrics? .......XD ;)

  • wow, 21 people missed the like button

  • This is a great song, but Hugh already did it on A Bit of Fry and Laurie more than twenty years ago.

  • @valeriereified I loved it on A Bit and I love it now. My favorite Laurie song is "The Sophisticated Song".

  • I absolutely ADORE him :).

  • 20 people dont know what ehuuummmmmhmmhmm is about.

  • I bet if his going to say what is the answer the world will be saved <3

  • Amazing piece of Art...The solution is so simple ;)

  • @Anapaest Cause this IS Dr. House!

  • @Anapaest lol it is the same person haha:p

  • @Anapaest It is... D:

  • @Anapaest He IS Dr. House. That's Hugh Laurie, the actor who places House. Most of his career was spent as a musician and comedian, and a damn good one at that.

  • @calvinspealman yeah i know, but it's funny that they look the same, eh.

    :F

  • @Anapaest What do you mean? They're the same person, of course they look the same!

  • @lennic95 i think he/she is sarcastic :)

  • @Anapaest Because he is the actor who plays Dr House.. So naturally, he's gonna look like a character he plays.

  • @Anapaest aaa, gosh, he is Dr.house

  • @Anapaest he is...

  • @Anapaest ...it's so hard to know by text if someone is being sarcastic or dense. DAMN THE LACK OF TEXT VOCAL CUES!

  • @FOXGEAR92 that's why youtube needs the option to italicize.
