I think the soil was so rich, it generated methane, and since the jungle is so new, there very well could be oil deposits, and the birds in the trees eat bugs that are smothered in sulfur (creeperflies) and they poop in their nests. And the trees themselves are TNTrees, so with all that, be thankful the explosion was so small.
