  • what handlebars are you running.

  • @Slowdriver500

Looks to me that the battery was moved lower and turned. Can probably be removed from the other side behind the cover.

  • how you can get to the battery with the pipes in front of the panel??

  • If anyone is interested I have this bike for sale under Northwest Connecticut on Craigslist

  • lil masterpiece

  • Amazing bike! I have a 99 vstar and I am in Canada and im willing to ship it to you around November . What would it cost to set up my bike to be exactly like yours?

  • What is your idle at? That sounds low for a VStar 650.

  • perfect bike!

I have issue with my Xvs dragstar, I remove my stock tank and want to install ,,Sportster peanut tank,, but the ugly stock airbox is there! the frame is not modified

What mods you recommend to do?

  • sreveport fo sho

  • killed the engine..... I HEAR ICE CREAM!! ice cream!!! LOLOLOLOL

  • dam thats CLEAAAN! thumbs up and faved!

  • Nice bike, nice sound. I will tell you what it is, a f... materpiece. That worth it those money, even with that funny fuel tank :)

  • FUUUUU!!! This bike is awesome :D

  • Wow.

  • man that sound Awesome...

  • That is a sweet lookin bike. Love that jap bikes are gettin some respect. Not all of us can afford $20k plus.

  • That is a sweet lookin bike

  • how are you getting this metric twin to idle like this?

  • Comment removed

  • bellissima ! un ottimo lavoro.

  • I like it , I have a 99 I bought for my brother and besides stock and some upgrades , i cant figure out what to do. People like you give me inspiration to mess with it and get it going into something before i give to him for 21's birthday

  • Sweet bike bro! Love to see that with a 23" front wheel.

  • Holy Crap, just perfect! Looks like an old school MOB Boss bike.

  • Do stock v-stars sound like Harley's? Or is it your crafty exhaust length that mimics the sound?

  • @sircraigery stock without modified pipes? no lol with some hard krome pipes they sound pretty good though...or any V&H system

  • Is an amazing bike....but is a yamaha man....do a harley----you are good ...the look is very good

  • Love the bike man, am making a bobber of a 81 yamaha sr 250 and I like that tank and headlight where can I get one.

  • @RuthNoemi31 head light is stock yamaha vstar 650, but bates style aftermarket 5 3/4" headlights go for peanuts. tank was on ebay or most bike catalogues. hope this helps.

  • the best vstar 650 on youtube!

  • That's true!

  • softail inst it?

  • Super sweet ride!

  • good lookin scoot.

one of the nicer metrics on here for sure.

    real clean, sounds good.

    thumbs up brother.

  • @garctown thank you for a great compliment. it's always appreciated. besides the looks, this bike rode amazing. i sure wish i didn't sell it.

  • @uptownrob1021

How much would you charge to do this to an 04 Vstar custom? I have one that I want to make a bobber. Any ball park ideas?

  • @Unrelenting1 $5500. it can be $1000 cheaper if you stick with the stock 15" rear wheel. these prices both include a 21" front wheel. i'm not doing the 19" front wheels anymore unless specifically requested. hope this helps.

  • Awesome old school pipes with great sound, wicked air filter, the ignition key is located in a easy to reach location, etc. I really like your bike.

  • @praxis321 thanks for the great compliments. i really appreciate them and thanks for looking.

  • Im wondering what does Bobber mean? I know chopper but not Bobber.... It might be an Aussie thing I dnt know.

    Thanks in advance.

  • @CRYHSV bobber was a style of bike in the 40's and 50's where they cut down/removed bike parts, fenders in particular, and bobbed their fenders along with other strip down mods.

  • This is the sickest bike I've seen. I want one!!!!! Do you fabricate your own frame or modify existing?

  • @RLAPO mod existing so there's no hassles if u ever need to present it at DMV.

  • Do you guys do vstar 1100's?

  • @cbmackenzie not yet. haven't got someone to drop theirs off yet. i'll turn ANY bike into an old school ride. seems i'm being typecast with the vstar 650. haha. fine by me. i love these jap bikes. they've got such great lines and make amazing bobbers.

  • Just curious, I know the VSTAR is shaft driven but will a 200mm rear tire fit?

  • there is only one brand 200mm tire that works, and it's only a 15". i believe its a metzler and regardless of what it claims to be, after the ratio, it's truly just about identical to a 180. so you pay twice the normal amount to say u got a "200" rear tire.

  • what kind of color is the frame? is it paint or powdercoat?

  • its called hammertone. its a textured paint. i don't believe in powdercoat.

  • nice job

  • thanks.

  • Man. Probably the 50th time I've watched this. Don't know how you get it to sound this way...carb make a big difference?

  • mostly exhaust diameter, length, and volume. they are truly 1 3/4" straight pipes all the way thru, unlike bub, dg, hardkrome, etc., which look big, but are actually small in diameter. many guys fab straight pipes, but without proper length, idle, and fuel dumped, just don't sound right. thanks for the compliment.

  • That's the best looking and sounding metric bobber I've ever seen.

  • thanks a bunch. that's a compliment i never grow tired of hearing. i got one of two more i'm doing coming out on last sat. of this month. been saying it for 6 months, but have had many delays with fabrication. keep your eyes peeled for the next one. thanks again.

  • how much gonna cost this ?

  • i'm not sure what you're asking. can you be a bit more specific? thanks.

  • Really good job man, not my style of bike (I'm an old fat guy) But it's really cool.

  • thanks. i'm gettin there myself. lol.

  • Pimped! Great work!!

  • thanks. compliments are always appreciated.

  • nice ride buddy. i have one like this. take a look at my video.

  • thanks. saw your vid, nice work so far.

  • i mean the engine is not supposed to idle lower than 1200 rpm for the oil to circulate properly

  • that has absolutely nothing to do with manifold or make of carb, harley or otherwise. every carb has idle adjustment. it's up to you how many rpm's it runs at.

  • i love it but i still ahve questions about the harley carb, what rpm is this running at? and if i buy a manifold from you is there some instructions about what carb to run and how to jet it?

  • i don't understand the question about what rpm it's running at. once the tps (now V.O.E.S.) is hooked up, it runs smoothly at all rpms. there are no instructions on jetting. all jetting is trial and error, especially on older carbs. some guys who have mad knowledge and experience can get it super close on the first try, but still gotta dial it in and usually go 5000ths bigger or smaller. i list the carbs it works for on the site.

  • Now that is one sweet build. Nicely done for sure. I'd ride that any day over a harley. Keep'm coming.

  • great video! sick honda chop's! that's what it's all about. being on the road, friends/family, and good times. sick!

  • Yea, its the type of style that im into for sure. I was thinking springer and 21" front wheel this winter also, but I really need to fab up that single backbone. I haven't found anyone fabbing nice gas tanks for this style bike.

  • i posted a video response of my bike. Im going in a similar direction with my 1100. The single down tube is what I need to do next, but have never done anything like that before. This is my favorite v star on youtube.

  • great start. those twisted struts are sick, as well as the twisted pegs. kinda' 70's bay area, which is pimp and it's what's comin' in. fantastic job.

  • Amazing. Any internal engine work? sounds wicked!

  • all stock except for carb, manifold, and exhaust. thanks.

  • thanks, although i can't make out the first word. LOL!

  • i think it should say fucking dope :D

    nice bike love it!

  • nice clean machine :)

  • thanks!

  • Thats pretty freakin cool man. thank you for ditching the stock tank. too many people cut the back fender then keep the big ass stocker tank. good job, looks awesome

  • thanks for the compliment.

  • nice sound.. clean bike..

  • thanks. i always appreciate a nice compliment.

  • sounds purrrrdee, Very nice machine.

  • That's good to know! See people, there is a down fall to us tall guys! Thanks for the info Rob.

  • 6'1". That's pushing it for me. It is stock length frame, just rebuilt by me. Because there's so much open area and it's cleaned up, it does have the appearance of being longer. U would definitely need to stretch the frame, but there is still so much potential to make a sick bobber even with a stretched frame. Not all stretched frames mean cheesy chopper.

  • How tall are you? The frame looks longer than most bobbers I see on here. I'm 6'5 with a 38" inseam. Could I get away with just having forward extentions or would I have to have a custom frame made?

  • Dude,I have a HUGE hard on for this bike,in my opinion, thee nicest custom ive seen and heard on youtube, you do some really nice work my friend!!

  • thanks a bunch! got some more comin out very soon. keep checkin in every so often.

  • Nice bike!! How did you weld the handlebars TIG or MIG? Im making my own bars and dont know if they should be weldid TIG or MIG. Thanks!

  • definitely tig! much more control of your puddle and filler metal, cleaner beads as well cuz more than likely the welds won't be polished down, in order to keep the strength. hope this helps. thanks for the compliment.

  • Thank u mate! unfortunately i have to weld it MIG, i hope it turns out good. Keep the rubber down(Y)

  • Thats a seriously good looking bike... Sounds great too

  • thanks. got a few more coming out in a matter of weeks on my website.

  • sounds and looks great. im jealous

  • thanks for the compliment. always appreciated.

  • i never tried welding..but yours is done so clean..

  • thanks!

  • Awesome looking V-star, I thought mine was a knockout till I saw this..... what changes did u make to make it a hardtail?

  • i rebuilt 70% of the frame. check my site or description of this vid for more info. thanks.

  • SICK bike man how did you get it to sound like a Harley? So bad ass some day I will have one!!!

  • combo of pipes, carb, and idle. thanks.

  • (・∀・)good!!

  • not too savvy on the symbols, but i dig the good part. thanks!

  • great bike!!!!! Only, next time lay off the coffee before filming..haha!!!

  • no coffee. i guess it's worse if i don't have an excuse, so i blame it on the camera anti shake function being disabled. ha, ha. thanks for the compliment.

  • badass job there. i've been wanting to pickup a 650 and hardtail it like that!!

  • thanks. let me know if you do and want some work done. i can help customize or do the whole build.

  • Hella nice build, Kickass song on your site "Derbyday" by Cheeseburger?

  • thanks for the compliment. yes it's derbyday. sick band.

  • i guess all i have to say about the 100mph is oops, i out grew my 650 and started trying wheelies and shit, now im happy to go 70 and enjoy it. so the sigle carb doesnt mess up the bike that was tuned for individual carbs. awsome i might buy that part off your site afterall!

  • sweeeet bike..!

  • thanks for the compliment. always appreciated.

  • so i love the sound and the look of the new manifold but what does it do to the power aspect of the bike? does it still goe 100 mph? mine goes that fast going down a hill with a tail wind but it still does it.

  • i notice no power difference. mostly for the functionality of the customized frame. i wouldn't advise you do 100mph on this bike ever. it's such a tiny motor, you're asking to blow it up at 100mph. hope this helps.

  • i bought a v star brand new last year. i hope you're happy cuz i can't even look at it now.

  • i can customize yours like this or better. i've got many more ideas for the vstar to make awesome old school customs. working on 2 customer bikes right now, so keep checking the site every so often to see what's new. let me know if you want any work done to yours.

  • about $4000 to $4500 to customize frame up. if you don't have the bike already, the average price for a used vstar 650 with decent miles on it is about $2500. i sold this one on ebay for $6000.

  • AWESOME freakin job man!

  • thanks for the compliment. got more on the way in a month or so.

  • Very nice, very clean. Good job.

  • always appreciate a good compliment. thanks.

  • Hey man, just a quick question since I'm reall y new to all this...

Why swap it over to a hard tail? Is it just for the lower stance? Would it take away from how it handles?

  • cuz hard tails are where it's at and the stock "softail" swingarme is the most obtrusive, cheesy, hideous design i've ever seen. when i build the hard tail i do lower it 3 inches which affects how quickly you can take corners and of course the handling is changed....there's no more suspension in the rear end. hope this helps.

  • thanks

  • That bike is Awesome. I've looked at many xs650 bobbers and V Star bobbers and this by far is the best I've seen. Keep up the great work. Thanks for the vid.

  • thank you for the compliment. check my website every 2 months and i should have new bikes for viewing. have 2 customers bikes right now that will be very close to the style i've already built with some subtle differences. i was going for any metric chops, but apparently i've found a niche with the vstar and is bringing in a decent amount of business. anyways, check the site every so often. thanks.

  • I'm currently using the stock pipes. i was thinking of switching them to teh stright flow type. My friends told me that i will lost the low and torque and the pull between gear. is that true ? will the stright pipes give me better top end power?

  • i'm not a performance mechanic. don't know if you lose low end torque or pull between the gears. these are the smallest 650's i've ever ridden, in the power sense. was there ever pull between gears on a bike with mid 30's horsepower? wish i could help you with a better answer.

  • Thanks very much for the reply. What i wanted to know is, regardless of the CC or the horse power. after you changed the pipes, how do you feel ? better top end ? any power lost when you pull ? any changes to the bottom end torque ?

  • i can honestly say i didn't notice any change whatsoever, for better or worse. rides and performs the same, but remember that i have a 40mm harley carb rejetted to dump enough fuel to have it run properly after using straight wide open 1 3/4" pipes.

  • Thank you very much for the reply. i really appreaicte it. another quesiton. how on earth did you get a yamaha that sounds like a Harley ? It put a smile on my face to hear the sound of your bike....i thought....WHAT ? how did he do that ?

  • it's a combination of the pipe length and diameter, carb and fuel amount, and idle.

  • you said that you use a HD's carb. can another brand do teh same thing ? say a Mikuni for example ?

  • can't say for sure cuz i don't know the mm size of mikuni's, but i'm guessing they're the same. how are you gonna mount a mikuni? i sell custom built manifolds on my website to adapt these carbs on the vstar.

  • Slick Yamaha, I've got an 1100 that I would like doing something similar with, a springer would look awesome on your setup. Did you use the stock neck?

  • stock neck. stock rake. i've been planning a 4"under springer with all chrome emery clothed to give a satin old school look. problem is aftermarket springers are beyond lame and i can't imagine forking out $1500 or more for an original. maybe someday soon. thanks for the compliment. sick buell chop. how are those la rosa seats?

  • hey man i have what you started with and would love to know who made that intake manifold have you got more details about that part?

  • i sell it on my website. my website is on the "more info" link next to my profile.

  • The seats ok pretty comfy, I'm not too fond of the looks of it on my chop so I'll probably take it off and build a ridgid mount pan to sit down into the dropped section of the frame. The springs don't do much for me anyhow.

Did you fabricate those valve covers? They look different then mine.

  • wow..great job..!!

  • thanks for the compliment.

  • awesome ride dude. It's cool to see that building bikes the old school way doesn't have to be done with Harleys. If these bikes woulda been around back when the first harley choppers were being built, they probably would have chopped and bobbed them out too, cause they were chopping every thing back then.

  • saw your vid. great, cheap, easy, homemade mods. so awesome. whatever you gotta do to make your bike look the way you want is all that matters. whether you have cnc capabilities, or a cutoff wheel and grinder, or just some pieces of flat stock, it doesn't matter. what matters is the finished result no matter how you got there. great start, man. love the points cover and you realize that all sporties should have exposed sprocket to chain or belt. really changes the look of the bike.

  • You got a really nice V-Star. I'm the proud owner a 2009 V-Star 650 Custom too. How can I make my bike to sound like yours. Nice job congratulations.

  • mine are hand built 1 3/4" exhaust pipes and i am using a custom built manifold to accept a harley carburetor to dump enough fuel to run properly. for your case, i would look into BUB or Samson brand exhausts that bolt on easily, are nice chrome, and require little to no rejetting of the carbs. not very familiar with that stuff, hope this helps. nice new vstar by the way. i bet it rides like a dream.

  • apes would look sick on this

  • not a fan of apes, but i appreciate your opinion. thanks for checking it out.

  • That shit is sick man

  • thank you for the compliment. it is greatly appreciated.

  • that thing is badass/one of the best looking vstars ever

  • thanks for the great compliment.

  • ok so id like my rear wheel to be 18" 180/40 white walls. Can you recommend a site, or place where i can find this? What do you suggest size wise for the front? Looking to get a 21" rim but im not sure about the profile.

How much more expensive is it when i change the rim? Should i just stay with the 15"s?

  • not sure where you're getting these numbers. there is no 18" 180/40 white wall. smallest for 180 rear tire is 180/55 blackwall. biggest whitewall rear tire is 16" x whatever. 80/90 is a great profile for front 21" wheel. space is limited on comments here, so please email me next time. i can build you an 18x5.5" rear wheel. these services are on my website. as for the front, the cost is the same as the rear unless you want to do the cheap way, but more work, is to use a harley front

  • wheel and axle which requires some fork modification that i can do also or if you have intermediate mechanical skills, you can do with a 3/4" drill bit and a bench vise and find some spacer material for your brake caliper at a hardware store. if interested in that stuff, let me know BY EMAIL. if you want to keep your 15" rear tire, but want whitewall, look that tire up in google or general search. 15" whitewalls are everywhere.

  • Comment removed

  • I want those footpegs sell to me now!! or let me know how much or where i can get them. thnx.

  • i make them from harley forward controls. with the cost of foward controls right now, price would be $400-$450 depending if you want chrome or black. you need to send me your brake and shift linkage so i can modify them to work with the forward controls. if interested email me. my info is in the "more info" link next to my account picture.

  • nice bike! i gotta couple questions. What the size of your tires? Is the rear 170/80 front 130/90? I just bought a 2003 vstar. Whats the biggest size rear tire can i get before i change the swing arm? And if i do change the swing arm to a bigger tire is it really expensive or can i do it myself?

  • rear is 18"x160/60 and the front is

21"x80/90. the numbers you gave sound like stock and i'm not sure you realize my wheels are not stock. changing the swingarm has nothing to do with tire size. you can only go so big before your tire hits the driveshaft, not the swingarm. i'm gonna say for stock 15" rear wheel the biggest tire you can have is a metzler brand only 200. avon's or dunlop's won't work. if you go 18" rear wheel i think the biggest is 190. and both of those probably

  • need custom fenders, i'm not sure if those large tire sizes will fit under the stock fender. i noticed on your page you have the vstar clip from a guy who appears to have an 18"x8.5 rear wheel with a modified swing arm. if that's what you're after, i suggest you take a closer look at that wheel. the hub is laced on the left side of the rim. awesome idea, just not for me. anything else i can help you with, email me. my info's next to my vid on the "more info" link.

  • Excellent Job, did you have to rejet the carbs with those pipes??? I have a couple of Videos of my 1100 vstar check them out.

  • not sure if i emailed a response to you, so if not here it is. you say "carbs". i have one keihin carb on my bike from a harley with a custom manifold i built. i rejetted this carb to dump the proper amount of fuel for the 1 3/4" straight pipes i built. hope that helps.

  • That is one FREAKIN awesome bike. I've just started some mods on a '07 V-Star. Kinda going slow, my first rebuild.

  • thank you. compliments are always appreciated. look forward to seeing your build soon. let me know if i can help with anything and thanks for being courteous and respectful enough to not say you're gonna' copy the ----out of mine. hope my bike inspires you, whatever genre you're into.

  • i guess that's a compliment. now i'll have to work harder on the next one. it's all good. if i can inspire others, i'm stoked. did you see my website?

  • wanna trade awsome bike hope you dont mind but im gonna copy the fuck outa your bike on my next build
