Well,You know, I think it started with the great success of their drama they played together : Nobuta wa produce, For girls Yamapi was so cute in it that the fact that he fell in love with Nobuta (played by Maki) made this couple very loved by viewers. It could be done at this moment, everybody could forget about them, but after there was a new serie with both actors : "Kurosagi" and this time it was Tsurara (played by Maki) who fell in love with him... so this couple was very appeciated ^^

I'm pretty sure ! Yamapi belongs to the Johnny's entertainment, I had read it was a production of young singers and groups in which money they collected were also a help for earthquake's damages, and Maki is an actress of several dramas, she's quite known in Japan I think ^^
