  • MEMORIES!! Thanks!

  • translated, she's actually saying "durka, durka durka"--listen closely, people!

  • Maybe the girl is saying "horse stew".

  • I love Youtube. Thanks for posting. I remember this. (I'm 46).

  • This is great! I'm 43 and my mother still has mine at the house.

  • What a horse do..hah I love that!!

  • When I was little I thought his name was MARVO the mustang, lol.

  • WHAT HORSE DO

  • A Western Inchworm!

  • I had one when I was little I was almost to big for it !

  • This damn song has been stuck in my head for 40 years! And yes, I too have a tough time figuring out what that girl said! I always thought it was "What horse do!" 40 years later, I still can't tell for certain!

  • @12docholiday Ditto on everything you said! I was looking for the commercial that said "no batteries" followed by some girl saying something I couldn't understand! Oh, and look out for the "Wet Horse doo".

  • I haven't seen this like forever- but I always thought it was "What a horse, too!" Any Marx ad-employees out there?

  • Marvel was a palimino, modeled after Trigger, Roy Rogers horse.

The girl says: 'What horse do?'

  • Marvel came out in 1967. I got one when I was four. That cute little girl says "What Horse Do?" lol! Marvel did not come in other colors back then but beige. I think years later they had a pinto version of him...maybe in the mid 1970s? Anyone out there got the Pinto version?

  • It's "Want Horse Stew".

  • @DwighttFrye that is funny!

  • @DwighttFrye OMG best answer EVER!

  • It's "What horse do" obviously...keep in mind it is a child speaking, her speech is not fully developed, but it is obvious she is saying "what horse do"...besides, if you want go all color-naming on this thing, Marvel is beige...

  • WHAT HORSE DO? XD

  • I think that was 1967.

  • My FAVORITE toy as a child!!!

  • Alright kiddies!! She is saying " White horse too" I may be wrong but we always thought bwas what she was saying

  • Glad to know I wasn't the only kid on earth totally puzzled to what the girl said. Funny thing after more than 40 years since seeing this commercial, that song just suddenly popped in my head, leaving me with the thought; WTF did she say? :-)

  • I wanted Marvel the Mustang, but it was the hot item that particular Christmas and completely sold out.. On a last-ditch Christmas Eve effort, my mother hit some remote toy retailer and was delighted when told "you're in luck - we've got one left."

When she brought the box home and opened it, the parents discovered it was a pedal car replica of a '65 Ford Mustang. Took my dad all night to assemble the thing. Best gift I ever got though, and from reports the horse was a piece of cr*p.

  • OMG, thanks for posting...I totally remember this commercial! I wanted Marvel but never got him...

  • Definitely "what horse do?", though at the time this commercial was on the air, I had no idea what the little girl was trying to say. They must have played this commercial 20 times every Saturday morning, it's no wonder that we've got this song stuck in our heads to this day.

Thanks for posting this and helping me to figure out the rest of the lyrics.

  • Yep for sure "what horse do". I thought she said "whan hor stew."

  • I have my Marvel...my daughter rides it!

  • I had one of these in Pomona,Ca. Good lord his brings back the memories. We had such great toys back then. I never see kids playing outside anymore. Do they still make toys???....LOL

  • The girl is clearly saying, "What horse do?" Anyone with another opinion, take it outside.

  • Actually, the little girl is saying, "White horse, too."

Marvel came in palomino or white varieties.

I found this on a site about vintage toys. For years, I thought the kid sounded a little brain damaged until I found this out.

  • This advertisement has never left my mind...indeed, it seems to have always been somewhere in the back of my mind these 40 years...to the extent that I was almost complacent when looking it up just now, as if I had seen it recently. I remember they played it ALOT...still can't figure out what the little girl is saying...

  • The little girl is saying "What horse do?" in response to "No winding, no batteries. . ."

    Hope that helps.

  • She's not saying "WANT horse too!" ?

Either way...I remember this too... barely

  • I still Have My Marvel the Mustang!!!

  • I never had a marvel, but I went to high school with Shawn O'Drane (the dark haired kid) back in the 70's. Sorry to hear he died so young. We used to hang out and have parties at his folks house when they were away. Typical teenagers. He was a good kid. What a blast from the past!!

  • Holy Cow - what a real blast from my past! Thank you for sharing this old commercial.

  • This was my absolute favorite childhood toy. Thanks so much for posting. :)

  • the little girl says "what horse do" no wind up and know batteries, so she ask what horse do.

  • i didnt remember the jingle but i remembered the toy and i was in love with my pony marvel...i guess im still a kid at heart because i have to have all these great toys again and it brings such joy and closure to me...wish we lived in the same house and mom kept our old toys..Marx was the best company!

  • Thanks for posting!!!

I tortured my parents until I got one of these then was so disappointed. Like hell did he glide along like that, you sat there and bounced and never left the same spot! I've had that song in my head all my life. Mum was convinced the kids in the commercial were towed by an invisible rope.

  • We got one of these for my brother for Christmas in 1967. It never worked. I remember the commercial well and the song. So sorry to hear the little boy has passed on. Glad someone preserved this.

  • Oh I would of died to ride a Marvel, but I was too big when they came out. They should reissue these so bigger kids can ride them.

  • That's funny, because a company called Ufree has. Their larger horse/exercise/vehicle device is 42" tall and they even have video of their product on youtube...

  • She said my horse too! For the girls.

  • I wondered for years what in the world that girl said!! I thought it was.."What horse do", but that didn't make sense!

I am glad I am not the only person who remembered that jingle. I can sleep now after 40 years. ZZZZZzzzzz

  • she says what horse do?! and shes implying that real horses dont need winding or batteries. she should have said what horse does but i guess it was for cute effect

  • Or it was to make it rhyme

  • Wrong. "What horse do".

  • "White horse, too!"??

  • Well, thank goodness I am not alone in remembering this little ditty from the '60's. Is it possible the little girl says "what a horse, too!" Both sad and funny that a 40 something grown man still wonders about these things. Still, thanks a lot.

  • Thank you, thank you thank you!. I can NOW play for my wife (7 years younger), the commercial with it's mesmerizing jingle that has been methodically ingrained into my self-conscience for the past 38 plus years!!! The jingle writer should be applauded or put behind bars for subliminal tampering! he,he.

  • Incredible...I too have had this ridiculous jingle in my head for about 38 years...never had one, couldn't afford one, but made more sense than "Sit and Spin," the toy you sat on and spun yourself around until you barfed.

Amazingly it's bothered me too for almost four decades what that little girl said... Great video, thank you!

  • I have a strange mind. I haven't seen this in 35yrs. but could sing every word to it. Useless stuff has always stuck in my mind. I even remembered the little girl. I remembered her saying "What horse do?" but thought, that couldn't be right, but after hearing it again 35 yrs. later, it STILL sounds like "What horse do?"

  • You can not believe how happy this commercial has made me. The boy with the dark hair is my youngest brother Shawn who was killed in a auto crash as a passenger in 1981. My mother is still alive and I think this will give her a little happiness.

  • i'm 8 yrs old again!

  • The winner by a nose!!

  • Oh my gawd! LOL! I remember seeing the commercial and begging my folks for this pony for Christmas! I loved this toy and spent many hours riding him. Thanks for the posting!

  • I can't believe it! I can't believe it! I have had this commercial playing in my head for some 38 years or so and I find you have it! Thank you for taking time to share your collection here!
