  • i find this video very helpful...

  • Haha, "somebody call a doctor because that is sick! (I'm trying)"

Worked for me. Not sure about the audience.

  • Very interesting video

  • Thank you for giving us insights about the Android UIs.

  • Very nice guidelines there Google I/O....

  • it s a year old video... now we re running on 2.3.4.. the OS has gotten much smoother and devs (stock and third) are coming up with better innovative UIs and tweaks.. in a year from now .. this is all gonna outdated..

  • @einc70 Actully not, design pattern that they discussed didn't changed much.

  • UI design patterns should not be generated by programmers (geeks), they should be generated by user interface specialists.

"DogFooding" inside Google also marks their weakness as they're comparing approaches as geeks in a single office, not as normal users. This goes a long way to explain why honeycomb feels half-finished. They're thrashing trying to understand UI but the aesthetics of it are simply too ethereal for them to understand.

  • @Arseburgers123 there lot of people who work solo and need to design UI :p and to 2nd thing real user tests cost more then using people in office for feedback.

  • check out the faces of the designers/developers @ 57:32... the guy asking the question communicates "poorly" in english... Sounds like he's Italian?

  • @FilmicMusic Looks like gays... :P

  • wtf @ 35:04

  • 1 iPhone user watched this video

  • I thought "Quick Actions" @15:48 would be mentioned in the "Hello, Views" tutorial...

..anyway,it's cool to have such thing...somehow,I enjoyed it in the Twitter App

  • how slow are Android devices!!

  • and now in honeycomb they have an action bar with contextual items :D

  • Useful info, .. but man, these guys are UBER GEEKS!

  • Google promised to Open Source this code when they demoed it, I guess we got shafted.

  • Yawn!

  • damn what an awkward session.... I could barely listen to that second guy's voice is trembling like he never held a speech in front of an audience. And 8:06 was a joke that sounded funny to him when he wrote it but failed miserably when no one laughed...

  • I've watched the entire 1-hour session. I am not familiar with mobile operating systems, such as Android, and all that mobile coding stuff. But this session gave me some useful tips on UI design in general. The concepts and rules presented here can also apply to website design and any other purpose imo.

  • This was an hour well spent! The Dashboard section was extremely helpful to me. Made me rethink the Interface Layout for the App I'm currently working on.

  • Excellent stuff, great to see that UI is not underestimated at Google

  • what a lame session... seems almost amateurish compared to the sessions apple holds during its developer conference.

  • really awkward moment @ 8:06

  • @jamelt Ahaha!

  • this video is almost unwatchable from japan. i can watch monkeys scratching their butts instantly. but, this video loads crazy slow. hmm....

  • Is there some way to obtain (or, better say, download) the source code of the UI patterns shown in the video by Richard Fulcher?

  • @MangaPowerZero I would like to use some of these Patterns to, any update on when code samples are released?

  • @MangaPowerZero why i cannot download this video?

  • @MangaPowerZero

Google conference app that demonstrates some of the ui patterns-- codeDOTgoogleDOTcom/p/iosched/

A nice tutortial on simple dashboard in android: blahtiDOTwordpressDOTcom/2011/03/14/build-dashboard-ui-for-android/
