One of those old Baptist tunes that was rarely sung in my church, but when I heard the first line, you knew it was time to get the implements ready to cover bare legs. Somebody knows what I'm talking about. Someone was going to leap in His name. I love this conductor, doing it like David, clear out of his clothes. Glory!
Praise the Lord!!! If that wasn't Anthony Canty on the organ, I was certainly fooled. No one could play like that man--he was truly anointed! He was founder and director of the Chancellor Tabernacle Choir of Baton Rouge, Louisiana when I knew him. My sister and her family yet attends New Hope Baptist Church where he was Minister of Music until his death some years back. I truly love and miss him--thank you Mrs. Canty for posting this. I will be looking for others...
OMG YES ANTHONY CANTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY am I just finding these videos??? WOW, it does NOT get any better than this! YES I REMEMBER ANTHONY CANTY AND I REMEMBER THE CHANCELLOR TABERNACLE CHOIR-- THAT WAS REAAAAAAAAAL SINGING...YOU HAD TO SANG (trained choral singing). THIS IS PRICELESS!
@morriserkingwifey I am now the Minister of Music at New Hope . I have heard a lot of wonderful things about the late Anthony Canty. With the help of the Lord and much prayer, I'll get the music ministry back to the level Bro. Canty had them at!
Sopranos today are taught to sing only in chest voice-a major let down. Also anthems and classic hymns like this are taboo in today's church. If it isn't contemporary or new age it is not popular or too constricting. Little do they know this type of music is the foundation on which gospel music rests, take it away and it will fall-soon!
whoever you are 10JLB, thanks for posting, I was a member of Psalms and the mass choir and I love all the videos you've been posting, thanks so much and please continue posting.
Thats what im talking about direct right out of that suite jacket. My home church in boston sang this when I was growing up our director directed justlike that he was from Louisana too. the church used to go nuts of this one. Classic!!!!!
Yamaha CP80 Eletric Grand Piano and he's sitting on a piano bench that belonged to the Kawaii Piano behind him, in the corner!! The reason why I know this is because I was in the youth choir and present at this service!!!
Wow! GSS was hasw always been on point with the instruments. Anthony and I were good friends. He was our Minister of music when he returned to B.R. His family and I are still close and remain in touch. His wife has all of these videos! We have sat a many days remembering those wonderful times. Thanks so much for posting!
