@TheSmashbros45 The US good future is a lot more intense. This is appropriate because... in the Japanese version, the bad future plays against Metal Sonic no matter what. In the US version, the good future music plays in the good future against Metal Sonic, so it needs to be more driven (and it is).
@TheSmashbros45 I dunno... I felt that too, for the first few notes, but it really does go into major keys and more upbeat, enthusiastic chords as the song goes on.
I'm gonna have to go with the US one. The Japanese one is way too happy; this level should have epic and serious-sounding music, and Spencer Nilsen delivers there.
Same here. In my opinion, both soundtracks had something to offer. I do believe Sega could have put both soundtracks on one disc for our amusement, though; CDs had more than enough room at the time.
They both sound good. The Japanese fits well with all the moving lights and crazy stuff and as for the US the ambient sounds goes well with the star theme of the level and the beautiful background. I dislike the Japanese bad future though, it sounds too noisy and it has some elements of happiness in it which doesn't go well. The US bad future sounds emotionally sad and just blends well with the background perfectly. Don't get me wrong, i respect both soundtrack and they both sound great!
I sort of agree with you on the bad futures, but sort of don't. Both bad futures have the same feeling- a strangely happy tune, yet gritty and downbeat at the same time.
nah, jp has a happy tune, but sounds really unenthusiastic, as does the american. both show that in the bad future, the people really don't care any more.
this is one time i will say "japan's soundtrack just got its ass handed to him"

The US soundtrack is very ambient and dramatic, but the JP is catchy as hell.
