  • it got a little wierd around 0:56 LOL

  • there are 3 size of shar pei, just like the poodles, toy, miniature and standard. the standard is more a one owner dog. but the other two are excellent in temperament.i have never met a aggressive pei yet. like every dog, its the owners not the breed. i'm sure you can make your pei aggressive very easily. everything about them is built for an advantage when attacked. Wally( my pei) is so gentle. i work hard to train him so i'm 100% confident leaving him alone with children or other dogs.

  • my shar pei is actually a really good listner she obeys everything i tell her and shes a puppy

  • @berrygurl888 i got a male black shar pei and he listends to everything i say he started doin as i say when he was 8 weeks old and i got him when he was 6 weeks old you just gotta show them your the boss not them this guy on this video dont no wat heis talking about

  • @twigs1nr yes, i agree. you have to stay on top at all times, reminding them who's the boss.

  • @tundra12555 exactly otherwise they dnt listen to you.

  • ive had 2 shar peis in my life, they are by far the best dogs you could ask for.

  • the best for you cause u did not have all the breeds to make that statement , glad your digs made u happy

  • @candjcalhoun i absolutely agree. mine is so gentle. no food aggression, excellent with kids. i would trust my dog 100% with anyone or anything !!

  • it sounds like a house whole name, but there is no such thing as an aggressive dog!! it all on the owners to be responsible or not.by themselves in the wild, its a different story. they have to do what they have to do to survive. compete for food, leader of the pack, injuries ect. that is when there true breeds are in effect. but as pets, there is no such thing. pit bulls for example is said to be the best with kids. i'll tell you what breed is most violent, HUMANS !!

  • Thank you so much...I look forward to your blueprint...

  • Do shar pei's have a strong bite like a pit bull? ARe they strong dogs? ARe they bad with children?

  • they are good with children and they got a strong bite and sharp tooths and they are strong they where used in china as fighting dogs and when i play with my sharpei i need to wear a coat ore els the biting is to hard

  • you shouldnt really be letting your dog bite you

  • its playing......

  • no they brill with kids mines with 2 toddlers n a kittens all day n wudnt hurt any of them. n ye they have a strong bite but they wont bite if they really dont av 2 they also dont fight unless they really av 2 if another dog starts it

  • yes they have a strog bite, yes they are extreamly strong and yes they are good with children as long as they are socialised

  • I've bred/shown Pei for over 20 yrs. They do not attack and bite like a Pit Bull. They need to be socialized like the guy says in the video, or they can get shy or aggressive. They are strong/muscular, so I would not recommend them for a elderly person to take on. I have raised them with my children and as long as they are socialized iwith them, they love them and are great watchdogs!

  • @sarshar100

mate i have a shar pei he is 8i love him to bits but this guy is so strongheaded i ve tried everything but he only listens to me when he wants to.He always understands my commands but only listens when he chooses to.any tips?thank you

  • @sarshar100 I've raised pitbulls for 20 years, and they don't bite people at all. Stupid people have stupid dogs, the breed doesn't matter.

  • i just bought my wife a chinese shar pei and the pup is going on 10 weeks this friday. at the moment she has white and red pimples on her face and muzzle. i would like to know what those conditions are? i did hear that the cause comes from her/his whiskers growing. plastic food dish and need to change to steel dish. cleaning her face with wipes from time to time.

  • yes, could be allergy to plastic feed/water bowl.

Unless you actually pop the pimple and see a hair coming out of it, it's probably an allergy.

You need to feed GOOD food. Get Lamb & Rice DRY dog food. Purina Pro Plan has done well for me.

Dogs can have skin conditions poor breeding/bad genes.

The wipes may add to the problem. It's coming from within (the allergy/genetics). It should go away.

  • @SharBeLLaPei Shar Pei are called "shedless" because they do not shed unless they are physically and/or emotionally stressed. When they do shed, it is also "shedless" as they will often blow their whole coat. Females usually blow their coat after giving birth. (physical stress). Bad diet can also cause physical stress and alergic reations. Never feed you shar pei soy or dog food with oy additives. Shar pei tend to be alergic to soy. IAMS red bag is what I use.

  • @OneWouldThink i think you are talking about the horse coat. its like sand paper. the other coat( which most of the shar pei in these videos have) do shed 2 times each year.i have a miniature shar pei(wally), he sheds twice a year. beleive me, he is never put in a situation where he has stress. my boy is spoiled.

  • @SharBeLLaPei Shar Pei are unique in that they only have one coat of hair. Most dogs have an under layer.

  • my shar pei is 8 months and growls at anyone in who comes in my house even my son when he comes home from school... grrr she is a cow lol

  • You need some serious training NOW. By the time I'm commenting the dog is over 1.5 yrs old, so hopefully you did something already.

  • Thank you for the tips! We have a 5 month old Shar Pei and she is a crack up! But she does have a lot of skin problems that we are working out.

  • Food quality is the first symptom. Lamb & Rice - dry. Don't feed snacks, etc. Unless it's like hotdogs or cheese. Too much bathing can dry out skin. Thyroid problems can cause oily, and smelly Pei
