Can you tell me what the hell is an 'Action Roleplaying Game' is please? Because I have never played a cRPG in 20 years of gaming that did not have combat and therefore 'action'!!! If it lacks the alchemy. avatar stats, multiple quests and open world (like Jade Empire and Mass Effect) then maybe they are 'action-RPG's) but if all those are included, like in the Witcher, it is quite simply a cRPG,
@Justanotherconsumer Neverwinter Nights 2 has combat, so does Dragon Age, i'll give you that. But Neverwinter Nights 2 has dozens of stats for your avatar, has lots of places to explore and has a world that reacts to how you react to the world.
Dragon Age has the stats, but not the exploration and a world that barely reacts to your actions. The closest DA comes to random is the battles that may pop up as you fast travel from one point to another.
Why are simple good old fashioned RPG's now called 'Action-RPG's'?!!!! Every single RPG has action! I think they call real RPG's Action-RPG's to disguise the real Action-RPG's that are 90% action!! More and more games are action-RPG's, and that includes games like Borderlands - a 95% shooter!
Easy. Online play for rpgs consists of two forms. Either a hack and slash arena play, or the idiot circle known as MMO.
Last thing the world needs is another brain melter like Wow.
The game looks awesome. Some reviews have suggested the games combat is somewhat shakey. Thats okay however, after all, true rpgs are based on story and interactivity, not bashing things. I'm looking forward to the PAL release.

@HardWarUK "Action" as opposed to "tactics" is the distinction.
Neverwinter Nights 2, for example, is not an action RPG. Dragon Age, same thing.
If pausing mid-combat is a standard part of gameplay, it is not an action RPG.
