  • thanks. This approach is like oil painting. I would go about a tonal under painting in oil in the same way. It is very logical as most of what we see is in the 1/2 tone range... so to knock that out first puts you about 90% done with only small details and subtle differences left to make it crisp.

  • Very interesting. I only work in graphite and acrylics. I'm always impressed with portraiture done well in charcoal, like this.
