  • Uh free range. Biblical.

  • fall on MTV........... WTF?!

  • @SIRIYSACMA you should notice the "120minutes" on the screen and ask some 30+ guy or girl to tell you what this show was for MTV in the 90's. I don't blame you though, MTV now is crap as much as it can be!

  • Is the "driving around" part a reference/nod to Antonino's "Blow Up", or is it just the Fall being their typically random, crap/wonderful selves?

  • I think Shaun Ryder owes a massive debt to MES.

  • so what!, all art is plagerism, its all been done before, only M.E.S, does it differently.

  • Mes nicked the free range title id from a book of rather strange poetry some ex-fan sent him after mes threatened to burn his house down.. so we hear.

  • creep, malcontented, pop stock fodder.the best band ever. yeah they are cracking, but, only mere mortals. free range thy mind, forget all this god mirage. its only mad mark and his mates, having a fuck about, and leaving a nice taste in our mouths!

  • Richard Madely on vocals...

  • This sounds nice. I wonder what album it's from. Lots of footage of Mark E preparing to cha cha, a marvel for a Fall fan to behold. I wish I was doing this in Sydney today !!

  • @Lieu3C4 Shift-Work. Great album

  • @Lieu3C4 Actually, it's from Code: Selfish

  • Fabulous band!! Always one of my favourites.

  • fucking great. music that actually relates to the working class pint supping chain smoking pie eating bloke

  • @stoviesDFC Amen to that

  • The Fall introduced by Paul King.......lol

  • where you can link to the video with decent audio output? because it's the fucking best

  • nihilistic abstract poetic genius

  • poor audio, I would like to see this vid on bettter conditions, it must be great anyway

  • You cannot disagree with The Fall. Whether you like it or not, this is the best band in the world. I'm not sure if I like it myself, but it's true. The Beatles? The Rolling Stones? The Stone Roses? The Ramones? The New York Dolls? The Fall have not only outperformed the competition for 35 years, they've outlived them as well.

  • @Bang4clown

Correction: MARK E. SMITH has outlived them. The Fall has only survived by proxy.

  • @JabberOff Maybe so, but Mark is The fall. I take your point, but it's like saying Virgin Atlantic aren't the same firm because they don't have the same pilots. They still have Richard Branson (well, not anymore, but I couldn't think of another company with a "charismatic" CEO). You join The Fall, and you join the company, and if Mark doesn't think you're delivering material suitable for The Fall, he'll sack you. He'll probably sack you anyway, tbh.

  • Spits nails the way only he can...who else could get away with a reference to Nietzsche. Look after yourself Mark, you need to be around as long as possible.

  • COOL AS FUCK !!! TUUUUNE !!!! carl. in SCARBOROUGH. UK.

  • he sounds like a bloody tramp!

  • Już w lipcu na żywo na OFF-ie w Mysłowicach! Przyznacie że raczej warto...

  • OFF przeniesiony do Katowic.

  • free range-uh

  • techno influence

  • I love The Fall from start to finish, but for me the early '90s stuff is just untouchable. Code: Selfish is my favourite album.

  • 90s stuff are awsome awesome

  • Mark E Smith - a man of integrity.

  • Wow, MTV playing The Fall. Even back in the 120 Minutes days, that's out there...

  • I liked this tune the first time I heard it and I only eat eggs from free range chickens.

  • 120 mins with Paul King...

Great times of MTV, used to record this in vhs every sunday night.

    Now what...

  • mark e smith is a god

  • @jamescleiiand82..sorry mate pressed thumbs down but meant to press thumbs up...& there's no edit...

I know what you mean about MES...

  • written by simon wolstenscroft

he was in the smiths & the stone roses

    i shit u not

  • Comment removed

  • simon wolstencrofts just started a new band in manchester called carpe diem, really good tbh

  • interesting

  • I love these later fall tunes. I don't see what everyone hates about them?!

  • the is tops! - sound quality could be better tho ;(

  • I actually saw Mark E Smith in my queue at the petrol station on my way to Southport. He looked rather worse for ware and drove a 1994 Honda Civic. Brix must have took him for loads when they divorced....

  • if you see him driving again call the cops....

  • are you serious? he can't / doesn't drive

  • Super fuckin' wank-jelly shit right there!

That vid is a classic in my world.

    ''NO ONE!''

  • Thanks to Ludwig, if you are there u no who u R , uncanny our similar musical preferences, not just the mighty Fall.

  • Despite the shit reviews, regret missing MES's 50th at Bilston Robin 2's, I only live down the road..Glad to have seen the "Fall" (many members ago) a few times at Wolves Civic.

  • tune

  • i think this song is about the EU... lol

  • wot a tune !! love this video !! cool as fuck !!! MADCHESTER pissing all over cockney wankers and im from scarborough ! ha

  • You would make a good supermarket shelf stacker.

  • great song

  • one of my all time favourite songs

  • Mark.E. looks so kool in this.

  • One of the greatest fall songs. Pity the sound is weak on this. The original is really powerfull. Check it out music lovers.

  • this is my least favorite period of the Fall- but for some reason, this video makes me like it a little more. The amateurish video against the overproduced music is brilliant.

  • Listen to Das Katerer by the Fall - it's EXACTLY the same song with different lyrics. I love the fact they do that! Also Hey Student/Lot of Wind.

  • Or exactly the same song, give or take, as The Caterer, on the MES solo album The Post Nearly Man. All good, though.

  • You mean "Hey! Student" and "Hey! Fascist!", don't you?

  • Look! there's the fall pretending they're in the War!

  • Ohio=Europa

  • Yeah 'The Fall' rock so there!! Im waiting for them to keep up tempo a la 'The Marshall', 'The Unutterable' and 'Country on the Click' - 3 great albums in a row, the next 3 after that not so great...

  • agree about Fall Heads Roll and Reformation, but Imperial Wax Solvent is brilliant!

  • I think Fall Heads Roll is pretty decent. blindness is fucking brilliant. 50 year old man is a good song on IWS.

  • MADCHESTER COOL AS FUCK MAN !!!!!! and im from SCAEBOROUGH :)

  • funny and cool, gets better every time

  • just heard lard play some fall on 6 music :)

  • The only band that really matters. I would say that this is my favorite song, but then I will listen to "Chicago Now", or "Arms Control Poser", or maybe "Boxtosis" or "Hip Priest" or "I'm a mummy". When I think about, all other bands are only good for pretending to do drugs too. I mean, I have listened to and loved a lot of different music over the past three decades, but I always come back to "The Fall"

  • @imexiled - Exactly. I've come to the conclusion that The Fall are probably the best group of all time. Next to The Cramps that is!

  • @imexiled make your mind up mate. Which favourite song is it to be?.Dont think about it!. Drugs are not that crucial to M.E.S, and co.So you think all other bands apart from the Fall, dont do proper drugs, only the Fall?. Poor delluded malcontent peasant!.There are so many of them these days,All this B.S, from a fan proporting to be into music for the past 3 decades.Decadance and Anarchy!, he said, he smiled, I doubt it!, So what about it?

  • temazo!!!!

  • a DDR flag!!!!

    the fall, vorwärts IMMER!

  • It's got a good beat. Better than that Damo Suzuki nonsense. Honestly, what a noise that is.

  • I love this track.

    Insect posse will be crushed.

  • It is just you, 'tard.

  • ia luva it a me prroebra wzaladsfdaca so morrravagsda tu a mora dytsregfazax freaa rangazxaa

  • has anyone got their 1st single, bingo masters break out 1977?????????

  • The Berlin Wall fell, and what did Mark E think?

This is the Spring without End

This is the Summer of Mal-Content

This is the Winter of your Mind ... Free Range

    Wow! What a visionary. Code:Selfish!

  • all rubbish

He foresaw Bird Flu, and you know it!

  • It pays to talk to no-one

  • Proliferating across the earth!

  • Mcdonalds.

  • worse fall's album, best fall's song

  • this is the shit..top top band..

  • ALSOU SPRÄCK SARAHTHOUSTRAH-- I love it. der mann ist einfach cool wie scheisse

  • MADCHESTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • smith was kicked out of every band in manchester

  • I think it was the other way round, he kicked every musician out of his band. There must be at least 50 ex-band members.

  • I didn't even know Smith was in any other bands.

He did kick out everybody around 1997/1998 (or there was a big fall out and they left of their own accord) but regrouped in time for car advert classic Touch Sensitive and whatever album it came off.

This is bloody Madchester, isn't it? Even more than Smith's thing with the Inspirals.

  • Nietzchean oververture....Also Sprach Zarathustra....Freerange

  • It pays to talk to no one, NO ONE!

  • In 2001

    A Life code:

  • In 2001

    A Life code:

It pays to talk to no one.

    Proliferating across the earth.

    Also Sprach Zarathustra*

  • love this song, shame about the sound

  • Proliferating across the earth... free range...

    ITS BIRD FLU!!

  • they are on a different level to other bands in almost every way....

  • Themes:

    EU

    Neitzche

    Nazi perversion of Neitzche's message

Ultimate abstraction of Neitche's message by Kubrik

    Balkan wars

Basic question: Is the EU good? Or did we just make a mockery of ourselves.

    Discuss.

  • The Nietzsche Kubric connection is because the music at the beginning of 2001 is R. Stauss's overture to 'Thus Spoke Zarathustra'.

  • good !! i was wondering if this was uploaded and here it is.

  • great track and vid, what i always loved about this one is how Mark looks quite embarrassed when they're being towed around town, half miming the lyrics.

  • Yes! More Fall on youtube, well in mate...

  • excellent!!

  • Referencing Neitzche! What else could a guy ever need!

  • faction ,europa! insect posse shall be crushed....

the fall like an army patrolling the city....
