while recording they will do the chorus in different pitches so it sounds fuller

if he did this straight live, he would only be able to sing in the key with one pitch

rather than in 2 pitches same key to give a fuller sound

so the playback on chorus is so you get 2 pitches in 1 key otherwise it would sound weird

it's like a bass pitch he sings live, and the playback is the high pitch
