  • Great change for an African- American New Years Tradition. However. No one likes spicy except me.

  • Hi thanks for the recipe, I was so looking for the slow cooker recipes. One ques. can do the same process for rajma or kala chana also??

  • @gtulsi : Channas - yes! Rajma - we highly recommend you don't use a slow-cooker. In the past we have said you can but since then have done more study in that department. Apparently, Kidney Beans, if not cooked at a certain temp. can make us sick. Slow-cookers do not go down to that heat. It is best to do those in the pressure-cooker.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry : Thanx for the reply. Will keep that in mind .

  • my mouth is watering I love Indian food!

  • Those worrying about electricity bill...Slow cooker is very very power efficient.

and its a great option for busy ppl...imagine the luxury of coming back home after a tired day and guess what the food is ready!!!

    -----------------------

@ShowMeTheCurry - I always use to cook the onion and tomato a lil before adding it to slow cooker, but perhaps i will try this open lid option and see if it gets rid of that raw flavor..

*more slow cooker recipes please *

  • can you give us a pressure cooker verison? or maybe one using boiled peas rather than just soaked? Thanks

  • @lizthewizful : We will put that on our list :)

  • 6 hooooooooourss!!!!!!!! Are you out of ya Goddamn mind???????? You can use a pressure cooker and get it done under 40 mins........same bloody flavour. I agree with "vidaripollen". The gas bill will go through roof. Good on ya guys for wasting my 6:53 mins........

  • @checkdat8 : Slow Cooking is a great option for a lot of folks and do not have the 40 minutes to stand around and wait. This recipe is certainly do-able in the pressure cooker and what we tried to do was cater to all kinds of cooks with different needs. Sorry, this recipe did not work for you...

  • @checkdat8 you are right at some point.

The pan goes on a small burner (the smallest there is) for 6 hour so your gaz bill will not be that high my friend.

We in Holland do this for centuries : )

  • "Add a little spice to your life!" - I like it !! :D

  • @vidaripollen Slow cookers use very little electricity.

  • 6 hours?gas cost will make it expensive.

  • Ccctps.Cilantro is a spanish word. Ans spanish culture has heavy influence in the US due to historical reasons just as French culture has influene in Canada. Btw Hindi language had been influenced by foreign cultures for thousands of years

  • yummy girls, this with a nice piece of bread.... like a baguette ... miam miam.... :)

  • @RosalindandPearls heheeee

  • when i saw the title i thought it was the musical group black eyed peas lol

  • I made this last night (in my pressure cooker - I don't have a slow cooker). It was delicious! Thanks for another great recipe.

  • Can we not add the 1 tblsp oil while grinding? just wanted to try a fat free version...

  • I would like to try this.

  • I will try this for sure! Looks yummy =)

  • I cant wait to try this. I cant eat an indian dish without cilantro-except palak paneer- without cilantro.

  • can we use canned black eyed peas> if so how much?

  • When are you two going to Lez up for us?

  • Is there any reason it gets called Cilantro in the US and Coriander in the UK? Are they different varieties or the same?

  • @cctps australia and most of the world are with you, usa always likes to seperate themselves even if its trivial things like this.

  • @acf870 Latin American countries also use the term "Cilantro". It is not a USA thing.

  • @acf870 Cilantro is the leaves and stems of the cilantro plant. Corriander is the seeds of the corriander plant when they go to seed in the fall. Almost all Latin American countries also use these terms, except most only use the plant and not the seeds. As for "liking" to separate ourselves, that has nothing to do with it. Different countries call the same foods different things. It's a language issue. Trivial enough for you?

  • well it makes music to my yummy stummy ^^

  • This looks so good can ya mail me some lol...Chef EV

  • Can you adopt me? Just on days when I have a craving for curry...cause my kids still need me to cook for them...lol

  • This is making my mouth water! It looks insanely delicious. I will have to stock up on masalas and try this...

  • I have tried grinding raw onions in past several times which results in bitter flavor of the gravy... Any suggestions?
