  • the guy in the black trunks won, apparently

  • SOCKER BOPPERS

  • They're obviously not masters.

  • lol this is so fake it's funny

  • @DuskfallBand

Its not fake its real but martial art quality of itis law.

  • In 1953 a dispute arose in the Hong Kong media whether Tai Chi could fight. A challenge from the martial arts community namely the top White Crane fighter Chan Hak Fu ensued. Wu Kung Yi who taught at China's Whampoa military school aged 53 came forward to defend the art of Tai Chi even being 20 years older than Chan on condition that all proceeds were donated to charity. Rules of no kicking&grabbing. A shot to the nose caused Chan to bleed, Chan fouled by kicking. @57 sec see 'lui'+punch by Wu.

  • @JianChuanTaiChi

I believe the fight was also originally supposed to be to the death, but they could not secure a guarantee that the victor would not be arrested.

  • I never knew the Special Olympics started to incorporate boxing as one of the events.

  • us tai chi guy love love to throw elbows the form is full of it now hold the ball lol

  • Mike Tyson can easily take 20 of these guys. Yup, all at once.

    * 1-2 punches = 1 down. There will be some grabbing only to be thrown away like little kids or snapped

  • ok, 3 kicks

  • no kicks!!!!!

  • That is hilarious..

They should be ashamed of themselves...

I've seen girls fight better than that...

  • Haisai.I dont mean to be offensive much, but it looks like child fighting

    DOMUGEN

  • i dont mean to be offensive much.. but.. if you hadn't told me, i wouldnt know what style either of these guys were using and i wouldnt guess either was a master... just sayin..

  • yeah, really looks a little slobby to my uneducated eyes...

  • Please at least get the story straight. There is no "Master Ng" in this video. It is a video of the legendary fight between Wu Style taijiquan and White Crane style that launched Wu's popularity in Hong Kong. Wu Gongyi is the Wu family rep (eldest son of Wu Jianquan), and Chen Kefu (white crane guy). It is a shameful display -- looks like a kindergarten fight. A amateur bantam weight fighter could beat either on easily not to mention MMA. It is a permanent blot on the reputation of taijiquan.

  • this may not be ufc but it is really something. everyone who have been in a fight before must agree

  • girl fight!!!

  • They would both get taken down and ground-pounded or submitted.

  • For todays standars is really sad. hahaha

  • Amazing... tresured videos.

  • Everyone knows that real men don't fight, they post comments.

  • why the hell do we watch stupid lame crap like boxing when we have stuff like this

  • kik kik slap slap, pow pow bang gazat

  • I get the difference between movie fights and the "real world fight" but still.... I mean, I don't even see stances and on top of it, Master Chan turns is back on numerous occasions... Sorry but someone that trains so hard for so many years will never make these two mistakes. Who says it's White Crane anyways ?? I've seen moves that looked a bit like Choy Lee Fut but White Crane ..... Anyways, thnx for posting.

  • @sowhatt68 Youtube is full of the very same thing. Take a good look at most of the clips, not at what is being said. But ask. Who would attack you like that ? Fear will make you forget alot. When two people do push hands in real time there is fear. It's the same fear. In understanding real time push hands, you slowly replace that fear with trust. Push hands helps you to replace that fear with hopefully good actions, an not actions only. But with good actions.

  • I don't see any Tai Chi in this, nothing like ANY of the demonstrations of Tai Chi skill I've seen, so I don't know if this *Master* is really any good, or if Tai Chi techniques go out the window when faced with a real opponent.

A decent western boxer would probably mop the ring floor with these two.

  • This is equal to fighting school boys at age 5.

  • i used to fight like that in school

    LOL

  • the combination shown at 2:50 was demonstrated by Master Ronnie of the Jersey Shore. He may very well be a CMA master.

  • @sasoriko Funny stuff. ha ha ha ha !

  • There are some moves at 6:43 that have been slowed down to show their technique to the full. Can anyone tell me about them?

  • Love these hands on old bouts. Pressure testing your moves for validity is always a good idea. Could someone tell me which is which, because to my untrained eye it looks like a pub fight. Also could someone please point out the unique moves used to differentiate these styles from a common brawl. Thanks for any assistance offered in my understanding.

  • @telemetrics Yes, it's true that no fighting is better than "kicking butt". But it isnt the martial art that determines who walks away from trouble. Some people migjt want to learn kung fu because they wanna show everybody that they are "deadly". There are boxers with the same attitude. But hey, I take part in and learn boxing and I'd rather walk away from a fight if possible. Goes to show that a martial art does not determine what kind of person wants to learn it.

  • 1. There's a lot of stuff you just don't think about or notice when you see this. Practical application does NOT look as well choreographed as exhibition.

    2. Martial arts is not a sport. It's not meant for 2 guys with a judge to attack eachother in a boxing ring. It's meant for self defense (when you really need it) and personal development. That's something COMPLETELY different from sport fighting. In a real application of martial arts, both guys could just walk away in this situation...

  • Rare to see top masters fight. Here we see white cranes then best fighter chen hak fu vs tai chi's best figher Wu Kung Yi. Wu was in his 50s and Chen 30s. Dont see MMA with aged 50+ peeps! dont forget this was at a time no medical/dental/vacinations so 50+ is an aged grand dad! You can see that he deftly parries attacks and returns blows.

  • @JianChuanTaiChi Randy Couture is 48

  • @JianChuanTaiChi They displayed as much skill as you see in white collar boxing (type that into youtube)... absolute garbage for so called 'masters'.

  • Slap fest!

  • It is difficult to fight between different styles. Much adapting to unfamiliar techniques is required. That said, this is a sad display of tai chi skills, as the basic rules of tai chi include staying in contact with your opponent, using 4 ounces of force to move 1000 pounds, using silk reeling/spiraling energy, etc. Most masters do not practice sparring, they practice forms. This is not a bad thing, unless you decide to spar as in this case. These masters have not practiced sparring.

  • Maybe I am biased but, the Illusive White Crane is looking like the "winner" ^_______^ White Crane!!!

  • that`s wu style tai chi GM wu kung yi, eldest son of late GM wu chien chuan.

  • no offense but Tarung Derajat Fight Better than this two master....

  • I still dont see nething but tai chi stylists falling way out of form, hardly ne elusive tai chi that i can see... sure fight degenerate.... but GM's!! i must have been veeeery naieve... they sure r tough though. dems bare knuckles

  • In this video: Two grand masters have a slap and windmill fest.

  • To bad there was no grappling. Not bad.

  • People who are bagging on this video don't know what they're talking about. These guys are in great shape and same skill levels. You try bare knuckle boxing for several rounds and you'll be sucking air hard and falling over exhausted.

  • wow, that's pretty intense. You can actually see the technique like blocking and stuff being used in a more real application. It's rare to find a fight like this on these videos. I expected some throws though by the tai chi guy.

  • 6 minutes kick in balls

  • looks like a south park slap fight

  • woah these guys are at it for real

  • cant you do a better quality vid? OMG!!!

  • @volli56 it's from 1954 are you an idiot

  • @reven148 No i'm not an idiot. But you are

  • Bruce Lee was an advocate of sparring for this reason, These "masters" are clueless about actual fighting, but can perform beautiful "kata" or forms. Bruce Lee called it "swimming on dry land" because they didn't know how to use the movements in a fight.

  • @Asoingles2007 hah !! well it sure aint pretty from where I'm standing

  • haha that was girls

  • It may only be possible to identify how effective gongfu is if you allow all applications to be applied, sign and prepare for a death match. Gongfu is not designed for the ring it is for combat, you want to end the fight immediately, grab and rip out the throat, gouge the eyes, rip the ears, grab and rip the privates, strike under the armpit, attack the pressure points end the fight pronto, while standing do not go to the floor because the enemies friends will be around to help.

  • they call there selves grandmasters

  • This is what happens when you spend you life doing nothing but forms. Sparring is essential to manage the stress of combat. The two of them fight like they are afraid to be hit, they are both stiff as boards.

  • Please, consider they are not using boxing gloves. I'd be afraid too.

  • wow... they look like to gay guys going at it... but i'm sure their kata/form practice is like nothing we have these days. i think in modern times we have traded off the self practice of perfecting techniques with application. fair trade off i'd say.

  • you know. old boxing looks dumb too.

  • u should watch the old black n white videos of boxing. its even worst.

  • Nope, they aren't. Face it, Chinese martial arts are beautiful but they don't work in the ring.

  • @Bangled there r plenty of chinese martial arts that work in the ring as well as out of the ring. the reason why traditional ones dont work in the ring is because they r designed to kill opponents. Same with taekwondo- it looks completly different in the ring and outside of the ring.

  • @ikcjjtt Well but what about guys like Yang Lu Chan who supposedly got their fame in the ring?

  • @Bangled usually by perfecting one technique (such as a side kick) and using it to beat every guy in the ring. it sounds wierld, but only kung fu guys have been able to pull it off.

  • @ikcjjtt Thank you. By the way you or anyone else know why this same video appears with different designations and different names for the masters involved? What is the real?

  • @Bangled the issue with using only a side kick to kick everyone's ass is asking the quesion "is that kung fu?" The side kick is found in all kickboxing styles and just about every asian martial art. So can that side kick be called kung fu? it can, but it can also be called many other things-such as TKD, or karate. Reguardless, its not even a style.

  • This is why you train your your self for a fight.

If your going to practice techniques daily think is this applicable??

Am I going to train my muscle memory to use this in an instant?

I think you should train your mind as well but if your going to fight drill

your techniques in a "real fight" scenario

    and spar.

  • tai chi is the most powerful martial art that redirect the opponents force and sending back thats wat my hapkido teacher told me

  • this video is a real treasure !! theses guys are really tough to resist some hard barehand punch.

  • is that master shawn liu from shaolin temple as reff? famous sanhou master

  • got to be honest... the look like 2 kangaroos fighting... i'll stick to silly ass kung fu movies and their unrealistic depiction of fighting cause this was a fucking snore fest.

  • kangaroos are better boxers than humans... naturally.

  • If you read the history of Bruce Lee as well as you tube videos about Bruce, you will note that he also came across Wu style tai chi (by this master here) and was influenced by it. He also spent some time learning Wu style. (historical fact)

  • Its very interesting...I can see the merit of what each fighter is doing in terms of the styles they belong to but it looks to me that they have no sparred or fought with their respective arts much...There's a lot of tension in their movements which I usually see in rookie fighters...forgive me if I am wrong but that's what it looks like from here.

  • 3:52 - wtf, LMFAO!!

  • This is a real fight. Real fights are never as graceful as in movies or in dojos, because everything in movies is choreographed, as is a lot of stuff you learn in a dojo. You repeat the same move over and over again with a partner to learn it, but if you think it's going to work the exact same way in a real fight, you are sorely mistaken.

People who are passingly familiar with Tai Chi Chuan will notice how the Tai Chi Master rolls and deflects strikes. At 2:04 for example.

  • um is this some sort of super powered sissy fight?

  • lol I don't think anyone would die from the way those 2 are fighting. If these are masters then I hate to see the students.

  • This was a famous fight that was supposed to be fought to the death and lay to rest the argument of which style was superior- tai chi or pak hok.

The fight was actually broken up by the police before any fatalities occurred.

THANK YOU for sharing this video.

  • masters of funy :)

  • watch FIST OF LEGEND (jet li), he beat up karate and kung fu using a some kind of BOXING style

  • honestly, this look like shyt, no offense. They look like 2 old men fighting -__-

  • they look like a couple of 16 year old kids fighting in a school playgound, useless.

  • What I find funny and, downright tragic at the same time, is that in the '50s and '60s Chinese KF masters in the US jealously kept their styles "secret" to non-Chinese. This frustrated a lot of people who thought there was something magical about KF. A short trip to a boxing gym would have equipped them with better guns to out-punch both of these so-called "masters".

How ironic, we spend so much time dreaming about distant lands when we haven't fully explored our own city. Live and learn.

  • I like the waiter remark!! That is exactly what it looks like.

I cannot understand how one guy can call himself a Taijiquan master. Most Tai Chi does not have nearly THAT much punching in it.

One guy is swinging desperatly at the other's arms to try to break them, and when he is doing it, the White Crane Guy punches him.

Seems a little funny to me.

There are SO many time that these guys could have used a front kick and broken a knee cap. Fighting like this comes from outthinking yourself.

  • so who won this fight?

  • While the sound effects make the fight look cartoony and their fight looks like schoolboy fights, remember its because they're at the same level.

Had it been me in the ring, I would have K.O.'d at 1:57. Freeze frame 1:56, tai chi master was fast enough to grab white crane's straight and counter with his own right.

  • If they were masters at fighting and were at the same level, the winner would be determined by the first few techniques. To be a master of fighting using the style that you've trained in means to have a high success rate in applying the style in a fight. Style is theory and principle and comparing styles means comparing physics.

These guys couldn't fight. They weren't masters at fighting and I would question their mastery in the styles they trained in.

  • However, being a master of a style doesn't mean you need to be able to fight. Mastering a style is only the beginning. If you just master the style and don't fight, you're no master at fighting, but you can still teach what you know and make someone a good fighter, as long as the student fights to gain EXP.

  • 咩垃圾啊,唛侮辱中国功夫啦

  • lol look how many people came to see that fight lol

  • Whew! The last time I witnessed such a demonstration of martial prowess, I was in the third grade and a pair of my classmates were flailing away at each other in much the same manner. It's funny and sad at the same time.

  • This is more like street fighting...

  • I agree. It looks like two waiters desperately slapping the shit out of each other on their lunch break. I'm sure that if I look beyond the slaps and sloppy punches there might be more to it...like who got the biggest tip lol!

  • zero stars!

  • Garbage pure and simple....

  • Are they real master? I can't believe...seems like two school boy who punch each other!!!

  • The guy swinging his arms wide in windmills, that's the white crane master, and that's how some of their blows are delivered. They're actually quite powerful and knock a normal person out in 1 or 2 hits.

You actually have to be passingly familiar with both styles to be able to pick out the subtle techniques they're using, otherwise it will look like a normal brawl.

I highly suggest watching a DVD called Contemprary styles of Kung-fu.

  • In the slow mo bit at about 3:03, if you look closely, you can see that the tai chi master is rolling and deflecting blows away while delivering blows with his elbows. Always remember that real fights are NEVER like what you see in movies and demonstrations. They are fast, and viscious and the majority of the time will lack the grace that the uneducated person expects from martial arts.

  • All that fancy movement (prior to fighting) and then ... PURE GARBAGE!

  • the fighters were not the masters, but only students

  • i think my wife can bit them up// hi hi

  • Bit them up eh? I dont wanna know the kind of shit you and her are up to.

  • Oh my gosh fuckin embarassing....

  • The beginning showed Master Tung Ying Chieh demonstrating the Tung Family Fast Set.

I liked the fight, although I thought the punch sound effects were a little cheesy. I wonder - were really trying to hurt each other? Why not fa-jing if they were?

  • This was good to see. Thank you for posting it. If you have more like this I would be happy to view it. Thanks again.

  • So what style do you study then hmm ? Street fucknig Vato style ? Immigrant trash style ? sneak across the border so my kid can be a legal citizen when he is born style ? Not worth my time you piece of trash. Probably 140 pounds soaking wet, maybe 150 after a heavy burrito. Pathetic man, talk tough from were you are in the street , you'd be a bitch.

  • think u shud reread ur comment....notice the amount of trash u talk... ironic isnt it... cuz ur talking about trash... and ur comment is trash? u dunt realize how pathetic u are do u... lol... i noe i shud delete ur comment but i want ppl to see how stupid and racist ur comment is :)

  • oh yea and u dunt deserve to live :)

  • It is called trying to make him see what his statements look like to him. I am wording this shit on purpose that way , to make him understand how much of a moron he sounds. It is a psychology thing. I personally coudl care less about anything about him. Just figured if I spoke some blatant ignorance it might catch his eye and see it in his own words. W/e delete my comment i don't care. So much useless info on here anyways. And befor econdemning me to death , read between the lines bro.

  • Anyone actually commenting on this video as is if Tai Chi or any other gay traditional martial art is effective is a fucking idiot.

They look like two little fags swinging wildly.

  • You MUST be a MMA fighter. HAHA Listen to yourself. These traditional martial arts, have been around for hundreds , if not thousands of years and have served them fine. Pull your head out of your ass and research some history moron. Oh yeah , go get more tatoos too, because we all knwo the more tattoos = the tougher you are ............

  • They've been around thousands of years, yet they're still ineffective. While some of their original practitioners may have been warriors, they're now practiced by a bunch of gay suburban white kids who couldn't beat up a little girl in a street fight.

  • I rest my case , you are officially 100% Grade A certified moron. So go on and continue to be tough behind your computer monitor HAHA. People liek you are a joke and can't see past the end of your nose. If these Martial Arts where so ineffective how the hell have they survived for so long ? 100% MORON , they need a award for a-holes liek you.

  • They've survived so long because fag enthusiasts such as yourself continue to practice them to somehow escape the reality that you're merely a skinny little nerd who fails at fighting and life in general.

  • You really like throwing that term around huh ? Simple small minded fool, for your info i am 5"11 200 pounds and would happily trounce you any day of the week , and smack the refried beans out of your mouth puto. GO back across the border...............and re-educate yourself.

  • LOL. Yeah, you're definitely not skinny. You're a burned-out fat lard-ass who can't walk a few feet without wheezing. Must be the Kung Fu version of Beverly Hills Ninja or something. Take a que from your slap-boxing fag masters and lose some weight.

  • if it werent for TMA, none the maneuvers of MMA would even exist. They're all taken from TMA sets.

also, MMA has more history in greco-roman wrestling and pankration, the ancient greek olympic fighting sport. its like real wrestling with blows allowed, its just that HERE AGAIN TMA SHINES THROUGH and the guys who really know their Jujitsu, a TMA, come out ON TOP. Think about it..

  • I agree, that's why the sport is called mixedmartial arts. I've never knocked TMA's such as judo, karate, or even Sanshou. The TMA's that survived mma are the ones who focus on practicality instead of show. This video is nothing but hollywood BS, TMA or not.

  • This is neither tai chi or white crane however it is nice to watch to guys with sound effects.

  • cool oldschool

  • this is a freaking kid brawl.. in real martial arts you never turn your back to your opponent in any situation. also punches in taichi are never tensed up arms with wide swings... it is a whipping corkscrew attack..

  • I wouldnt say that Tai Chi doesnt have whipping swings but a real Tai Chi Fighter will have 100% more evading & shiedling skills then any of these guys....but at least after this fight they have some fighting experience....this fight might have had some rules....otherwise thier San Shou training wasnt any good....no kidney, liver, solar plexus, temple?, side throat, or groin strikes....

  • lol he does like hit and runs

  • you key jockeys make me laugh saying it was rubbish. The crane guy was pretty quick and bare handed those punches would have hurt.

  • A KO is much easier to do with boxing gloves on.

  • I don't know what form of fighting this is(besides lame), but I do know what it is not, and it is not Tai Chi in any way shape or form.

  • remember this is not those sport fights u usually c. only small rules here, anythin goes.one hit u go down kind of thing, not like TKD where u just get scores for hits. Here u get hit in the head u r goin to get injured rlly bad.Noticed the guy touchin his nose?he is not tryin to imitate bruce lee,his nose is bleedin like hell.if u understand the art u will see stuff,if u dont, all u ll see is crazy guys goin at it, is like poetry lol

  • Come is anyone here impressed by this? It's sloppy, there's nothing technical about this "fight".

  • That's because a real fight is not about being technical. Real fighting gets messy, especially street fighting. Usually the fight is taken to the ground within the first couple of minutes. Most fights don't last beyond 5.

  • Just shut up if you don't know shit....... Look at Bruce Lee real life sparring... That prove a real genuine kung fu fighter that looks honorable to watch... Better than this shit... No honor at all.....

  • I think you have been looking at too many movies.

And yes they might not have beaten Mohumad Ali in his hey-day, but if you know what to look for you can see it -- At least I can.

  • hahahaha BITCH SLAP CHI

  • Fighting styles and rules have changed since the 1950s but I'm sure for that period there are few people who could beat them then. Dont forget the modern day martial arts are not meant for common/military life and death fights.

  • where is the art of fighting?!?!

  • Techniques????

All I see is 2 blokes from the street fighting like girls! lol

  • i dnt see any of these fellas, fighting like wat their arts should be like hahahaha!

  • is that street fighter 1954? a new game or something? XD

  • This was a totally joke.

Have NOTHING about Tai Chi to do. Waik up :0)

  • From what I remember, that taichi guy was suposed to be the best Wu style Frighter in Asia. He beet up a lot of others before this fight. But they were like back aley street brawls (That was how people fought all over the world until fighting was made more sporting).

  • Actually this is not that disgraceful. Look for clips of the famous irish bareknuckle boxing fights. Some of those fights last 30 minutes or so, both of the fighters land a lot of punches yeat nobody gets knocked out or anything. If the participants are of equal strength and conditioning it's gonna look pretty much like this. I'm not saying the "masters" did good, they obviously lacked real fighting experience.

  • AND they went back into the mines to do their real job later...

  • You really believe they were masters? bwahahahahahahahaha!!!

You dick, this is a wind up.

  • That was kind of sad. I mean being great Chinese Masters and all.

  • So many keyboard martial artists talking crap from the safety of your parent's basement. You guys are funny...

  • Makes me embarrassed to say I study tai chi. There is NO substitute for full contact sparing!!!

  • consider though, full contact sparring would kill someone with someone who has reached a high level of tai chi!

  • LMAO this is tooo funny. i've seen better in a street fight. the added sound effects are funny

  • Bare knucle boxers, being bet on by the Chinese Mafia!

I hope the latter only fought like girls, or someone really would lose face!

  • Real tai chi is almost extinct. it uses explosive whip like strikes (aimed at nerve pressure points (dim mak) too kill or knock out) . Most has been watered down. TaiChi forms for are to develop higher sensitivity, timing nerve energy stretching and body mechanics)Thus increasing muscle reflex speed.Tai chi fa jing explosive striking (ie: tipple waist shake strikes combined with natural agile hand motions)it can produce explosive penetrative power at extremely little range and minimal leverage

  • reading all these comments just brings me to following conclusion....5 pounds of bulshit have more brains than most of the posters here

  • Even Bruce Lee was inspired by this fight and learnt Wu Style TC same as his father (see wikipedia) also inspired was famous author Jin Yong.

GM Wu Kung Yi was a martial arts instructor at Whampoa Military Institute (the equivalent of Westpoint in China) his father and grand father taught martial arts in the Qing Dynasty Royal Guard.

So those who dont understand the fast and hard punches and blocks should really go back to the drawing board.

  • So that means wasa communist like Tyghuen and Giap

  • all the fancy styles go out the window in a real fight eh?

  • yes lots of fun and why kung-fu is like little little girls fighting and yes dealdly providing the opponent is another chinese expert / no chance against real Japanese, Korean, European or American boxer, wrestler, karate, tea kwon do fighter. Actually nice to watch their forms. Does anyone have the figh when the chinese kung-fu fighters challenged Thailand fighters - 3 fights two got knocked out and the 3rd chinese guy ran out of the ring and back to the dressing rm to safety. Funny stuff

  • Hey, Tae Kwon Do and Karate belong in the same class as Kung-Fu, so don't group them with boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, Muay Thai or Jiu Jitsu.

  • it's funny ..however i see many kunk fu style punch ..you know, kung fu is not a competition discipline and you never have real fight

  • That is not a tai chi master

  • rofl

as someone else said... they fight like miserable hopeless gays.

if there really was a tai chi master he should be able to down his opponent without touching him by using chi energy.

  • WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT!!!!! masters!!! 0.o

  • best fighters in teht world.. original chinses gungfu.. lol... sry..

  • samadakamad- Bruce Lee was taught Wustyle when he was a child by the guy with mustache Wu Kung-Yi and Kung-Yi's son, Wu Tai-Chi. He learned the one inch punch from the Wu family so get your facts right. Kung-Yi was 54 when he fought here against a 30 year old. Those punches being thrown are hard however the style is more about locks and neutralising attacks. Broken arms in a charity fight would have been crazy though. I agree though it does look funny

  • ROFLMAO THIS WAS THE FUNNIEST FIGHT I'VE EVER SEEN That one guy is trying to windmill the other one the whole time...
