I grew up with my dad listening to country and western music and one of, if not his favourite was John Denver. My dad past away when I was 11 but i still remember every word to most of John Denver's and other country singers songs. We used to sing at the top of our voices in the car to this song and at such a young age I had such a variety of music that I knew it shocked a lot of people. But thanks to my dad, I still have a love for music that is just as great.

Actually the first concert I ever went to was to see John Denver was in 1974!!! This particular song was released first on the Higher Ground Album which released in 1988!!

I have been a John Denver fan forever it seems, but in '88 I was going thru a divorce and sort of busy raising my girls so I probably heard the song but as I said previously just didn't recall it and was thrilled to have found it again. Back in the day, I had his music on LP's and sorry to say this 8-track. LOL

I have seen him in concert so many times and he performed so many songs that people have no clue about. But this is one of his best by far. I hope you know some of his great songs which were never played on radio because he was old news as far as DJ's were concerned. In some ways, I think he wrote some of his best long after he lost his popularity on radio. If you don't know these songs, message me and I will tell you what you should look up.

I just returned from October in Aspen and attended the Celebration of JD Music Concert. WOW! The most moving moment of the concert was when this song was played (live by JD friend) with video of John singing. I found myself choking up...none of the performers could hold a candle to the clarity and depth of John. On this sad day, we all remember and know what we've lost in his absence.
