@xbleedinhorror A 5.56 bullet's maximum effective range is about 800 yards, it will kill you at 500 yards in one well placed shot. Even if they're only wounded they have no professional medical care and are subject to infection. If they're not hit, they'll probably leave, which isn't as good but still works.

They're trained to shoot 300 yards with ironsights, and shooting 500 yards with optic's is still hard, but you can still hit a target.

He said the Americans are lousy shooters, wasting their ammunition, most other forces in Afghanistan use single targeted shots, while the US troops keep firing like crazy and mostly hitting nothing. So I guess it's not just the fact that it's "not call of duty", it's also the fact that U.S. soldiers don't have to take responsibility for every single shot they fire.
