  • The downshifts are pretty solid.

  • Sounds like my Toyota Echo!

  • love the noise but i'm sure f1 still race at the hockenheimring

  • @sutinrongwithu Not the same Hockenheimring, however.

  • @sutinrongwithu Yes you are right but the track is not as it was....This track used to be one of the F1 highlights of the year until 2001 massive long straights through forests of over 200mph making it one of the fastests tracks on the F1 calender; from 1968 to 1986 the track had claimed 5 lives IT WAS FAST! and dangerous .... After 2001 i decided to stop watching it. I thought it was more exciting to weed the garden.

  • v10 are better

  • My Skoda sounds just like this...

  • this should've won the championship, just based on the sound it makes

  • The best sounding f1 was the williams bmw v10 in my opinion

  • @ssj5devilhunter666 Montoya reached 372km/h (231mph) in 2005 at Monza. Set up for pure top speed, and with a big enough straight, it wouldnt need a turbo at all, and without a rear wing the BAR got 252mph on the salt flats.

  • @Narutofan1000k @rtsf1182 agreed, would very much appreicate the source, thanks for the this vid

  • @luljan been there done that.

  • @syas13 Bought a t shirt

  • the best sound in the world

  • I can't believe they're going to 1.6L w/turbos in lieu of the pure showmanship sound of perfect balance with a billion cylinders embodied in these 12's. How can they miss the appeal of this when they think of people wanting to see/pay for this sport? The morons!

  • I get chills throughout the body just by listening to this magical sound...

  • the v6 will fuck the rest of F1

  • @gateontheroom Are you serious? go listen to the 1988 Honda v6 McLaren Senna and Prost drove.

  • Why is this engine so higher pitched when it was only doing around14 to 15 thousand revs?

  • @SlicertekPictures0

    The answer is easy:

1.- Because the higher number of cylinders, the trebler is the sound (for the same volume, of course)

2.- Because in tha season, the volume of the engines was downsized from 3.5L to 3.0L; and here too, the less size, the pitcher the "music" (at equal number of cylinders).

Brief, in that engine converged the two causes making sound the engine trebler.

I can´t imagine how would be his sound today, with 17K rpm. Amazing, no doubt

  • @andresymer

The current engines are 2.4L V8s with 180 degree crank. If we cut the engine in half to make a 1.2L V4, the engine would make almost exactly the same noise.

The sound an engine makes is determined primarily by the crankshaft which controls the firing order, and the engine speed in rpm. If F1 changed the crankshaft/firing-order regulations, they could make the 2.4L engines sound like high-revving NASCAR or they could make them sound even more peaky and rev happy than the 412 V12s.

  • @mylexicon2 The turbo's are going to rev at 'only' 12 000 rpm.

  • V8=shit

  • This car actually ran for 2 seasons in 1994 and 1995. It won 2 races, Hockenheimring in 1994 and Canada in 1995. The latter of those two turned out to be the only victory in Jean Alesi's career.

  • music for my ears :D

  • What was the RPM limit on the engines in '94?

  • @evanylee I think it was about 16,000rpm for the Ferrari 412T on this video, but engines still differed between cars at that time

  • La Música de un V12 así realmente no tiene precio!!!

  • V8's sound shit nowadays, they sounded good back in the turbo charged era of the mid to late 80's but then they introduced the V10's and V12's which sound even better! V12's are best sounding ever, the closest you can get to experiencing this now is Superleague Formula they are all identical V12 engines producing 750bhp but at only around 12,000rpm so about the same is the current F1's for hp but more like GP2's in terms of rpm output, tame compared with this which was around 900bhp @ 19,000rpm

  • ....from 2:40.... to 2:55... absolutely gorgeous.

  • they reduce v12 to v10 and to v8 to save money

  • @ghurghust yes and in 2013 F1 will be shit because they will even change to 1.6 liter 4 cylinder twin turbo engines. F1 is turning into fucking greenpeace

  • The original sound of formula one ...

  • damn so brutal.

  • Thats the sound of one of the greatest high performance engines in motorsports. As a NASCAR fan, much respect

  • Best sound of f1 and car history when its drives by i get cold lol thats how awsome this sounds

  • watch "berger sliding ferrari" , it's this car actually qualifying

  • WOOOOOOW the downshifts at 1.04 is amazing

  • do the modern formula 1 cars have a throttle pedal and brake pedal or is it buttons on the steering wheel? I'm not sure exactly thanks

  • @11bikerboy11 They still have gas and brake pedals. But the real question is, how long will they have them?

  • @11bikerboy11 yes it has pedals and the shifter is the paddels . like a lamborghini or ferrari

  • omg ni8ce song¡

  • 21 people are nascar fans and don't know what their missing out on!!!

  • @gss548purpulie no, nascar fans love the sound of the V12 too...

  • @gss548purpulie This NASCAR fan loves this engine sound.

  • Why can't all cars sound like this... Its not like it'd get old ever

  • thoose 21 people who said that they dislike this are either def or nascar fans

  • thoose 21 people who said that they dislike this ar either def or nascar fans

  • today they have v8s....

  • I hear they are stopping engine development for f1 and making it a spec race like nascar. How lame.

  • waaaaaaaahhhhh...waaaaahhhhhhhh..wahhhhhhhhhhh...waaaaahhhhhh..wah..wah.wah..wah...wah.........waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :D

  • Ha brilliant At 2:36 you think that v10 sounds awesome and then you hear the v12 and its just like 0_o

  • @ironryan9999 today are V10, this is the famous "V 12 Ferrari" used for 40years +/- :) (Only in F1)

  • @RedhotIta1 dude I know and anyway they use V8s today. Its just in that sound clip ive pointed out you hear a v10 sound before the beasty v12.

  • @ironryan9999 whops! i was writing V8 but i thinked was for GP2 xD.

  • it has better sound the 412t1 or 412t2 ??

  • I think I just made myself deaf! But it was fun!

  • @mortenholstebro But the thing is, sound matters ALOT to some people. The V8's from 206-2088 ('06 in particular) were quite good sounding; they actually sounded powerful. The V10's from the previous 2 years in particular were brilliant, and this V12 was also. ANY of those engines could have been fitted with a Turbo and used as the standard, but they werent. That is the point. (well, a V12 with todays technology and a Turbo would be frightning, the un turbo charged late V10's made nearly 1000hp..

  • vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvVVVVVVVVVRRRRRRRRRRRRrUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • Fuck FIA.. They should bring back these opera V12s..

  • @FERRARIAVI

Motorsport is dead. Wait till 2013 when theyve got inline 4's.

  • @FERRARIAVI

They should limit displacement but not the number of pistons.

  • @FERRARIAVI Amen.

  • @mortenholstebro Now if only we could re-introduce the 1.5 litre v16 engines of ye olde BRM days! I think that the 2013 regs should certainly limit the displacement to 1.5 litres, but limit the no. of cylinders to 4? Aww, shame... The V12 and V10 era were the greatest when it cam to F1 sound. Imagine how awesome a turbocharged 1.5 litre V10 or 12 would sound?

  • Is this real life?

  • le rêve !!!

  • ahhhh i'd somehow almost forgotten that sound.... incredible

  • nice job on the sound, i like how it goes from one speaker to the next on my headphones. like im sitting there at the track

  • are these sounds legal ?

  • Whoa! Bad case of nostalgia!!!!

  • That's isn't a noise, that's music

  • compare this sound to the F1 engine sound in 2013...:(

  • @prezeskgr how can you know? small displacement + turbos is not necessarily going to sound like shit... ever heard about the turbo era?

  • @balitaSR agreed

  • those downshifts...unbelievable

  • Try closing your eyes . . .

  • @stefanoneretino che bello sto sound, arrivati a questo tutto il resto è nullo, spettacolo, peccato le auto di ora non si avvicinino neanche da lontano

  • @stefanoneretino

did that and my entire spine is tingling

    especialy at 2:32 - 3:07

  • @stefanoneretino

    No video anyway.. ;)

  • Remember folks, the old Renault turbos even in 1979 were only 1.5 litre and they were stupidly fast. The engineers in F1 will make them every bit as powerful as cars are just now. Also they will have so much more torque with a turbo, and torque is king. For the record - The Ferrari V12 is my all time favourite engine. Im nursing a semi after listening to that.

  • @Bawhair1 Renault started 1976-1977 with Turbo cars :) after Ford-Cosworth and Ferrari started in 1981-2 since 1988. You gone for F1 Event? I like the ticket of 2400€ :P

  • @RedhotIta1 Yeah but the Renaults in 76 and 77 were unreliable but you are correct, they were turbocharged. First turbo win was in 79. Thats when the rest of the F1 field sat up and took notice of the turbos. F1 is very expensive these days. You been to a race recently. I have not.

  • @Bawhair1 i Never gone to a race. i've 13 years old, and the Turbo of Renault was fast as the Boxer V12 of Ferrari ;)

  • What pisses me off is that F1 doesn't need to become "green", Bernie just needs to stop using his personal jet to get to the races.

  • Thumbs up if you wish some manufacturer builds a V12 F1 car just for the novelty of it, or probably to smash lap records!

  • Yeah. They are going to use 1.6L inline 4 turbocharged engine engines instead of the current V8s in 2013. The FIA have confirmed it. The FIA officially announced F1's death by changing the V8s to I4s

  • i can listen to this all. day. long.

  • damn i wish that i was born in the early 90's to experience the days of the v10's v12's and v8's.......too bad i was born in 96

  • @Mjayz96: Same here. 95, my birthyear was the best year in F1

  • Just awesome!

  • Very good video... nice sound:)

  • 1994: The end of an era...

  • Funny how these are over 20% more efficient at turning fuel into power than most small commuter cars.

  • Sad that we will only have a 12,000 rpm maximum in 2013.

  • @cheesefruit200 It was confirmed today, say goodbye to this "sport".

  • @cheesefruit200 wow screw the FIA its time to move on guys, I guess Indycar and nascar will be the pinacle of motorsports, Even Gp2 cars will be better than F1 when this happens. Why the hell must I pay lots of money or waste time watching f1 on tv when my car has a more powerful engine than an f1 car.
