Even if he was not the biological father his name is still on the birth certificate and legally would still be responsible as the father. It's full shit, but the laws out-date DNA testing. In the US is a married couple has a child the husband is automatically assumed to be the father. If later this is found not to be the truth he is still responsible for all financial matters and it's a good chance that mother will be awarded full custody and child support for a kid that isn't even his.

A study from U of Oklahoma says 3.85 % of men in the US are raising children that unknown to them are not theirs. Sounds small, but if you do the math that's actually millions of fathers raising children that are not theirs, but are claimed to be.
