Brilliant, havn't seen that video since the 80s - Infected is such an amazing album! Look out for 'Tony', a British movie about a serial killer called Tony. Saw it yesterday and the complete soundtrack is The The. The director is a Johnson so may well be a connection. Check it out if you get the chance, it's pretty good.
Love the album -- a great effort, some great songs and some even greater political commentary. Still one of my faves.
Bitterly disappointed by the early 1990's world tour -- we saw terrible, dispassionate performances from Matt Johnson & Johnny Marr -- that'll serve them right for playing along to a click-track when they should've had a fifteen-piece band backing them up . . .
Niqull niquill niquill... we love you, you giant f'n Q! Looks like he took some Niquill and flaked out before he had the chance of a shag! (Left his body behind said hello to clouds!)

Wow...I'm SO glad I found this...saw The The in concert with Depeche Mode in Orlando Florida back in 1993 or 1994 I think it was....what an amazing show!! I will NEVER....NEVER forget it!!!
I bought the Infected album as a Vhs video when it came out in 1985 (I think) Every song with it's own mini movieand everyone of them excellent. This stuff still moves me big style.
I saw it at a friends house in 1986 when i was 15 it blew me away what a live concert !!! Im looking for it and my search for the the live actually started today !! It has left a serious impression on me .
ack..showing my age ......but i had the entire "infected" movie/video on vhs but my mum taped over it! but i did have the privilege of a concert with the cranberries as an opening as 21st bday present!
@DeGannett lol, me too. I think I bought the video before the album (not sure why). I think l liked the look of the cover - hadn't heard of them before. Definitely one of the most under rated bands ever. I was the only person I knew that liked them. Still watch the video with the lights out, volume up, late at night with a beer in hand.
@cheekyboy099 True for ye Cheekyboy099! Pretty much the same with me being the only person around who liked them. I lost that VHS in a house move around 1990 (thank God Youtube was invented) along with my only other Video album, which was something by The Cure. Aboiut twice a year or so I get on here and watch all the Infected vids I can find( late at night ,beer in hand of course.Age does not fade those tracks!
@DeGannett : I so agree with you! This has to be my favourite album as a whole. I even called the band I sang with here in Italy 'Out of the Blue' ....Just incredible. And as you said, every song is like a setting for a wild, dark film
Matt Johnson was THE THE BEST!!! Great voice, well written songs, funcky sound... watched all this "infected" video , over and over, and over at 13 yrs old!! It was important, groundbreaking stuff that has stood the time test. Only Erasure are equal to my mind. thanks for posting Sophie
I demand that Matt start making more music. Every lyric and tone is like a wall against so much bullshit music made today. this points to development of music, not copyingen.
Classic. The The.... Infected has to be one of the best albums ever - and the vid of the Album is equaly incredible...an absolute classic too....this track has always been my favourite of favourites..Matts voice is sensational
Way ahead of his time, in production and concept including vids for every song, no way nowadays would a major label put so much into an cult artist, seen this on Ch4 in 86 when I was 20 it blew me away, he had 3 classic albums in a row, starting with Soul Mining
Couldn't agree more. I was the same age when I heard it on the Tube / CH4 around that time. Gorgeous lady at the end of the video too. Johnson knew.....
Yup Remember the channel 4 thing, Killed me. Still one of the best and most complete albums ever. Dogs of lust challenges this as the best The the song ever' Actually this IS better. Where are you Matt? We need you now!!
brilliant song from the fantastic infected album..
each track had its own video ...
with the album production and many different locations around the world for the videos it cost the record company nearly 2 million to get the finished product out....
a huge risk and unheard of for any other artist at the time...but unded up a massive success in 19 countrys....i still play the cd 23 yrs later.
