male canarys sometimes do not sing but are spurted on by this sort of singing, they become very quiet through out the season especially if its by itself. Canarys love other canary company its cruel to keep 1 canary in a cage or even free roaming around your house allways have another canary , budgie , zebra finch , or something similar near your bird or in same cage. that way canary will be happy as possible can be.

thank you for posting this.... I am trying to teach my male and female canary to sing. The female seems to be picking it up. The male however refuses to sing or even peep. So I now leave this on for hours when I go to work. So they can hear it totally undisturbed. Thanks again for posting. God Bless.

@carlosrahimi69 hi!this is the perfect time to know you canary 'sex ,all you have to do is to take him and see his sexual organ if it male you'll reconize ,female : ovale and yellow in this time of the year "breeding season

I bought a pair of cannaries about 2 weeks ago. The male I think must be very young because he still has the fuzzy feathers. Any idea how long it will be before he starts to sing?

@CandyLuv73 hi! if he has just changed its feathers ,you have to make him listen to canary songs to learn it and sing after 3 or 4 month ,all depend on your canary and how (2 a 3 time in day)he recive song and where ( in a silent place )also its alimentation &food should be good seeds ,eggs ,vitamines in water ,if you respect all these rules your canary will sing faster ,but are you sure that's male or female ?i wish i could help you

I have a male canary that was singing really good, but since his female died he have stopped. I bought him a new female some days later to see if she would start singing again to the female canari but instead he attacked her. Is this normal?

@Sdares your canary is changing his feather don't worry he will resing ,it's normal that they attack eachother til they accustom his new female ,at that time seperate them and you'll hear him calling her and singing !
