There is a screenshot of Berethor on the back of my copy of the game with him holding a spear, but as far as i know, at no point during the PS2 version of the game does he use a spear, i've played and completed it 100% and i've never found it.

Yeah I'm the same. What other platforms was this game released on? Maybe it was on a different platform or from an earlier, pre-release build.

Notice that this Spear-wielding Berethor has exactly the same idle stance and other motions as Eaoden. Maybe the developers made Berethor a swordsman to create the opportunity to make another character who'd have a spear.

Besides, a spear just feels more Rohan to me anyway :)

@wannabeasian991 I don't know where he/she found it, but I found it in Minas Tirith left of the cave troll/Gandalf (the courtyard that is).

I've only played the PS2 version (I never had a gamecube), so I'm not sure about the spear. I think Berethor looks better with the sword anyway.

Also, if you pay attention to "The Return of the King" at the citadel when Gandalf and Pippin arrive, the Citadel Guards wear the same helmets that Berethor does there.

Took me 50hours of game time to put em all to lvl 99 and all skills learned ... and i mean all of them even the elf jewel of light and shadow!

My fav character in this game is Elegost, not a high damage attacker but has very useful skills (Sleep, Blind, etc)

Thats true. I played the game 4 years. I dont always use my strongest move. Which is probly True Shot. I use some of his sleep, blind, paralyzing, and slow moves 2 weakin the enemy down. Thats my style.
