  • Karl is dead. Whether you were a supporter or a detractor of his-for the death penalty or for life in prison, the fact of the matter is Karl was sentenced and punished. His debt to society has been paid and life goes on. Karl's legacy on earth is what it is to each individual person, whether you loved him or hated him, but now as I write this it and he is in Gods hands. Karl's dead, and may God have mercy on his soul. Why fight about it now?

  • ALFCAU-anyone who knew Karl is suffering in some format

That's the first right thing you've said, and Karl is the cause of the suffering. Don't forget who the victims are.

Karl left poor Felecia covered in blood, her pants around her ankles. Her 5 year old son discovered her. Her son was raised without his mother. Everyone who was hurt was hurt because of Karl's actions, including Karl. Show some respect for the Prectl family and quit whining about "poor" murdering, raping Karl.

  • I agree with you ALFCAU. You can't believe everything the media says. They have to make a story readable and people love pain. I also feel sorry for both families involved in this horrible incident.

  • ALFCAU: Executing Karl was GOD's work. Remorse does not exempt from punishment. If Karl accepted responsibility, he would have walked into a police station and confessed. His family are his victims too. He subjected them to this pain, not the government. He was not murdered. He was punished. You have more empathy for chickens than you do Felecia Prechtl or her family. The idea that he was all grins, made a joke of his last meal, and THANKED her family for attending is disgusting.

  • Was he a cruel killer?

  • Are you serious??? The only killings that aren't cruel are assisted suicides.

  • Maybe Chamberlain's victim in Heaven. But where is Chamberlain's soul now?...

  • Hope it's where it can do no more harm.

  • What are you talking about? Both rape and murder are both in the video... and there wasn't three hours of tape. There was less than 45 minutes of tape.

  • It's 34 seconds in.

  • Gone now. Adios!!

  • Its a shocking crime and the punishment it fitting for the crime. But I do have empathy for his mother. It must be difficult to know your son it going to be murdered. Karl bought it upon himself he has destroyed so many people's lives now his to be destroyed and his mothers life goes along with it.

  • He makes me so angry why are people so digusting and have no regard for anyone else!

  • Ugh. Now the supreme court has okayed lethal injection, TX is trying to kill him... again. He has another date for 06/11/2008.

  • He didn't get a stay! :) The execution is on! Yeah! :)

  • Uh, no it's not. It was canceled. They just didn't update their website yet.

  • Murasaki is right. According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's public information officer, Karl Chamberlain will not be executed today.

BTW, Muraski. Loved the Genji Monogatari. - Dave Maass

  • No, they already executed him.

  • God, it's very shocking how horrible and cruel some people can be...

His execution is on Thursday. Let's keep his family, not to mention Felicia's, in our prayers...

  • Regardless the Texas' system fialures, this nature's abortion, known as Karl Chamberlain, should be put to death anyway! Here in Argentina, some of us victims of violent crimes are still waiting for the death penalty.

  • In the news today: the Dallas DA asked that his Feb. 21 execution be delayed, pending a decision from the courts.

  • The interviewer worries that Karl Chamberlain's execution is going to affect so many people. The death row guards supposedly say this "boy" shouldn't be here. Maybe the reporter should talk to the family of Felicia Prectl, the woman he raped and murdered, or her son, her 5-year old son who found her dead in a pool of blood, her pants still down around her ankles. That crime affected so many people as well. Sadly, Karl brought all this upon himself.

  • I get this all the time, but the point always seems rather vague. You can talk about the gorey details, but that doesn't change the fact that a)Texas's system is fundamentally broken, b)Chamberlain's lawyer screwed him and c)there are folks on the row who've done far less than other folks who've gotten off with only a few years. To me, both sides get hurt by this, and terribly so. Chamberlain committed a horrific crime, but that doesn't change the fact that his mother will suffer for it.

  • its not just the victim family that suffers. Family members of the executed are also victims of crime.

  • It appears to me that you are trying to show sentiment or empathy for the convicted's family. Reminding people that even the family of Karl Chamberlain became victims that day isnt such a bad thing. However, the crime committed is well deserving of the punishment given. I dont think your intention here was to dispute that; only to show a side that many dont consider. I'm not sure Karl's mother was compelling enough in your interview to achieve the desired effect.
