  • Another sad fact is, that greedy gamblers from everywhere blow up the housing price bubble. How naive (and stupid) can you be to believe that it will always go up?

Australia is the most expensive housing market in the world (and the houses are rubbish on top of it). In the US the houses are as bad, but cost only a third. Even in Germany people can build houses with top notch technology and quality for a lot less. Australia is simply digging its own grave...sadly...

  • Well...I have noticed that the Australian government is not amongst the most competent in the world.

When the tsunami hit Japan and speculators pushed the Yen up, the Japanese government printed money like mad to push the gambler out of the yen..and it worked.

Australia should also print money like mad to make it unattractive for gamblers (it is a risk asset) and before the inflation starts to rise (which takes 1.5-2 years), they should take the extra money off the market. That helps Exporters

  • Despite a commodities-fuelled boom, high government spending, the cost of widespread flooding and a drop in corporation taxes ,mean cuts are likely.

When will they learn, that cutting corporate tax will not cause this corporations to leave!

  • leave it for an aussie to wear work clothes walking downtown in rush hour with a surf board :p LOL

  • wow, I am so happy to be studying abroad in China this year haha!~ can get my lunch here for less than $1 AUD

  • To my fellow aussies.. invest in commodities and you too can be one of the affluent :)

  • It's funny how much thing's are here in Australia, but we have free trade agreement's, more greedy fucks then you can point a finger at, the US thought they had a gap in class, there is a huge one here. It's said when you think about it.

  • Why is money so complicated? geez...

  • @juanmora19910209 It's based on nothing, the U.S. dollar used to be backed by gold at least. Now they can just literally create money with a couple keystrokes. This is what happens when we allow politicians to control the money supply. Central banking(i.e. Federal Reserve) cause these huge problems with the economy. They print money until our economy is where it is today. We are like a huge house of cards being held up by bubble gum and scotch tape.

  • Ha, ha, who would want to learn English in Australia anyway? I mean: I just got followed by a boozer all the way to BYO. The funny thing is I haven't ever had a bingle!

  • Labour party needs to get stuffed and get out, a conservative government will make a much stonger economy. The labour party is interested in satisfying the independents for cheap seats and spending spending spending. "Were going to release a new stimulus package to help support the low income earners and improve our public health care and public schools".

  • @Herimia What do you make of the last budget, its so conservative it even has the Liberals bitching, though i must admit they bitch about anything, they would probably pin the weather on Gillard if they thought they could get away with it.

  • @AusPolitico The new budget was rubbish its not going to benefit anyone as much as it should in the long and short term. Carbon tax.. what?? huh?? Labour always stuffs up the economy, the howard government transfered our country dramatically just like how Margaret thatcher transformed Britian in the 1980s.

  • @AusPolitico transformed*

  • Inflation is high in Australia.

The cost of living is ridiculous.

Wages can't keep up with these prices.

  • as usual the economy is out of touch with the real world ...what's good for the big corporations is not necessary good for the man in the street ...GDP numbers are a stupid way of calculating an economy...it is most likely that the poor getting poorer the middle class getting crashed and the rich getting way richer and this is happening worldwide with no exceptions....

  • Ah-diddums to the tourist industry, What about real people, the cost of living is high in Australia. Fuck the economy, fuck the mining industry. Nationalise the mining industry, why should a few greedy bastards be able to dig up the ground and sell it. It's everyones land.

  • @HelmetBlissta wasnt that the whole deal with this mining tax stuff was that so we got a bigger slice of the pie from the mining companies?

  • @HelmetBlissta Nationalizing the mining industry would not be the answer. Reducing the BS small businesses deal with would help.

  • @HelmetBlissta yeah lets all move to north korea a true workers paradise

  • Australia is fucking greedy how can they charge such high prices for commodities..

  • @Dimitri0809 You think we should give is away to the Chinese for free??

  • @1dschamp

Well your not exactly being generous about your offer, it is a really high price why does Australia have to bargain the deal for the highest price why can't australia and china bargain for the lowest price it isn't exactly making a lot of world progress by charging the highest price it just means it's going to take longer for the Chinese to pay it all back.

Everything is just a money making thing these days not really out to benefit people.

  • The reporter says that Austrialia didnt go into recession and the buget to be in surplus but that is not good, we have to depreciate the currency so that Australia can go into a depression that's good.(sarcasm)

  • right now there is a war going on between the EU and the US to see who can lower the value of their currency lower

  • its stupid because our dollar is increasing in value but nothing is getting cheaper. A large big mac meal for example is about $9 and in America is less then 6.. and the australian dollar is stronger.

  • @Herimia lol...that has nothing to do with how it works. Doesnt mean the country is richer or anything...

  • @Herimia i think ur confused. . within australia nothing will change. only the value of our currency towards other currencies, but within australia, macdonalds food costs would be the same, maybe more after the floods. and i have no idea where your mcdonalds is but i doubt a big mac meal costs 9 dollars

  • @superfuzz Yeah your right, i know but i just get ticked off when i go on a website and look at a product and it will be 80USD for example then i get redirected to the australian website and they charge 130AUD even though the aud is worth more.

  • @Herimia -you can thank your central banks for that-zionist privately owned banks for that matter.

  • @Herimia Thats not how the economy works.

  • @Herimia the min wage in Australia is $15.50 and the min wage in USA is around $7 in most states! So in actual fact our lower workers have in cheaper!

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOKOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOOLOOLOOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOOLOLOL

  • @junkrat1 4.9% cry me a river.

  • @junkrat1 Actually it is fairly low.

  • @junkrat1 relative to other countries its low, its less then 5% which is rly good.

  • @junkrat1 Our unemployment is one of the lowest in the world, the US is over double ours. Some people just dont know how well we did with the downturn, most countrys are under mountains of debt, where as Australia hardly has any Thanks to the smart decission made by the Howard and Rudd ministries.
