  • devil may cry lead charecter dante this is his great great great grea (100 greats later) great gandfather yea that must be it

  • Pour Dante.. this is a bad joke to his opera....

  • all those anime shows are Fking good

  • I wanna watch! I wanna watch!

  • I didn't like that the animation style changed with each level of the movie. : < It would have been better, in my opinion, if they kept to the first style throughout..

  • @Shitsuren I know what you mean, the first style was my favorite and Virgil didn't look as though he had been shocked by electricity like in the others.

  • does any one know where i can watch this movie because i cant find it

  • “Love, that in gentle heart is quickly learnt,

Entangled him by that fair form, from me 100

Ta’en in such cruel sort, as grieves me still:

Love, that denial takes from none beloved,

Caught me with pleasing him so passing well,

That, as thou seest, he yet deserts me not.

Love brought us to one death: Caïna 2 waits 105

The soul, who spilt our life.”

  • now get ready for a god of war movie.

  • The movie is pretty good, i recommend you ppl to watch it

  • this film is EPIC fucking EPICcccccccccccccccccccc!!!!!

  • Blum's performance of Lucifer is some of his best work of all time.

  • Hmmm... I was really into the book but this doesn't reallt look.... well... good. I mean, it looks like your typical bloody/gorey animated R-rated flick.

  • my blockbuster screwed me over and their game is scratched so I might just watch the movie instead

  • mus watch :-)

  • the most hardcore part of the movie to me is when he literally rips open the gates of hell in my opinion

  • I remember watching this with my sister. It took us a while to figure out why the style kept changing.

We determined that we liked the more realistic style at the very beginning and the "Vampire D" style (as my sister called it) right after. The others were just....weird.

  • whens this movie coming out????

  • i didn't like the anime cuz the characters kept on changeing appearance and it looked like they got lazy makeing it with the use of the same scean over and over again

  • Wow can the animation please have SOME cohesion? Some scenes were pretty well drawn. Others, I've seen better in Saturday morning cartoons.

  • where is vergil!!!??? they should include him also wtf

  • @jp294808 ummm actully the anime is being made because of the video game and is very much like the video game compared to the book its the anime is nothing like the book but more like the game? kapeesh?

  • @jp294808 I feel like the movie (even though it is modled after a game) really does justice to the book! Maybe there were parts left out but all movies based on books do that!

  • I totally want to see this. The Divine comedy is pretty much the meaning of his journey, a divine comedy, in the sense of it being a comedy as in irony, that lucifer would need a pure soul to rise back into heaven, and an impure person, whose soul is as wicked as his own, to stop him for LOVE. ironically, someone as black hearted as dante wouldnt fall in love, and what makes this comedy "divine" is that its wicked and darkly depicted. Enjoy everyone.

  • That film is fantastic xd

  • It was a written work, NEVER played out at the time. Aside from heresy It really can't (and shouldnt) be recreated with Images outside the Mind. It truly can't stay true to the writings due to the references made. I truly hope this isn't just a Slash and Cut anime of a very non violent Epic. Dante was actually described as an Average man (fear and all) and his guardian/spirit guide did the fighting.. *sigh* Games and this Anime are bringing it all out of context.

  • ///this is the kind of hell i'd wanna be in .

  • Which comes first the game or this movie?

  • @ViolentJInsane62 the book...

  • I've seen it and it's fucking awesome!! I finished the game too!!

  • looks good.

  • @umbhara It is...just dont let your kids see it.

  • amazing movie

  • Anyone seen this? I want to see it. Looks hella cool!

  • wow such passion! Dante's anguished "Forgive Me!" at 1:31 gave me shivers. Whoever voiced Dante was awsome.

  • @Passions55

    sorry I ment 1:30

  • @Passions55

i know...thought the exact same thing.

for someone i truly love, i would forsake an eternity in heaven to rescue them from an eternity in hell. and i would gladly trade my place with them.

  • Holy shit where can you see this movie!?!?!

  • Nothing beats this.. I had fun watching it at yep[dot]it/aclicz

  • That's bogus since you are saying from the first game only. Let me pose another question. Who would win? Dante in the first 5 minutes of the game before he gets the scythe or Kratos before he becomes a slave to the gods?

  • The real question: dante or kratos from the first GoW? I say kratos, but thats only because that was the first game i ever fell in love with XD

  • Based on the true stories of the characters? Dante would win, Kratos was given the power of being God of War but in the end Aries kills him and thats the end of the story, Kratos never gains power to escape Hades. While Dante did escape hell and take on all 9 circles.

  • good point

  • Who will win? ¿Sparda brothers Dante and Vergil or The Hellish Warrios Dante and Vergil?

  • Didn't really care for the different styles for Dante in some of the circles, some of them just looked stupid. It followed the game pretty closely except that it left some of the bosses you see in the game out.

  • This movie was actually pretty fucking good for a cartoon

  • So I bought this, cause I'm in a Dante's kick since the game rocks. I did the same with Bioshock 2. For thoses interested, the art direction is pretty good to great, but then ends with Lucifer being down right "cheesey" looking. It almost blew it for me, but the flick is worth 20 bones for content in the prior circles.

  • what do you mean same for bioshock 2? theres no video for it

  • I just ment having a "kick," for whatever game I was curently playing. For Bioshock 2, I went to TRU and bought a Alpha Figure and Big Sis / Lil Sis Figures. GS gave me a pre-order bonus Dante Figure for PS3 and PSP. Now I'm curently playing God of War 3 and though it's overall an EPIC game, I kind of think that Dante's has better combat and better fun factor!

  • @UseYourDisillusions I would agree I love the bioshock games the first is still my favorite game and I think the combat is so smooth and simple and then I play games like ninja gaiden 2 where you dont have a good dodge and cant block and think holy shit I used to like this? lol they did a lot of good on dante and I seen that figure at gamestop on display its tight he is one of my fav characters funny that they modeled him off his voice actor they looked exactly alike

  • I didn't know that man, very cool! Yeah, Ninja Gaiden did nothing be kick my ass. I love all the extras that enhance a game!

  • @UseYourDisillusions ya ninja gaiden is so fucking hard and when I first got it I played on easy and thought that was normal and now Im playing it on normal its hard! like I get so pissed cuz i did alot and I cant help it because he cant block and his dodge is a sidestep lol but thats one reason I love dantes inferno is all the unlockable stuff gives you so many reason to play it over still getting coins and relics

  • gay that its cartoon.

  • read the poem dude the divine comedy

  • that movie looks awsome and i want the game

  • the GAME! must play

  • ufff pure gold

  • This anime is awesome. I just got it from Netflix.

I've never played the game either. I might have to now.

  • this doesnt really feel like an anime.

its like how avatar isnt an anime oO

  • You watched this?

I dun understand... That's like saying The Animatrix isnt like the Matrix.

  • nope i didnt, but i dont need to watch the whole thing to make the statement i just made.

no again, this is where ur wrong.

    the Matrix uses computer animation.

and the animetrix isnt composed by 1 person/artist. they all use different form of drawings.

btw,are we talking about the same avatar here?

  • anime is for adults! this one is anime alot of blood and death

  • so im guessing youve never seen pokemon? :P

  • yes i have

i guess anime is japanese style

  • meh,we all have different opinions ^^

  • play the game bro!! tell me how was the movie???

  • Looks pretty sweet

  • I don't get why people are complaining that the Dante's Inferno game and anime aren't loyal to the Divine Comedy, when the Divine Comedy was hardly very loyal to biblical canon, hence why Dante Aligheri got exiled in the first place. Irony much. Some people are just whining because you can't play the game in lieu of reading the poem.

For it's time, the Divine Comedy did to the bible what the game is doing to the poem: using pop culture to spark interest in the original source material. Bravo.

  • @draketheduelist Your right. I'm a Christian and Ive been playing the game. It is awesome. I have also seen the animated epic. I first heard of the Divine Comedy in High School and did a group presentation on the 9th circle of the Inferno. This is kind of like when 300 came out. Now I want to read the Divine Comedy. My beliefs show that Dante the poet was off on several things (such as the fate of unbaptized babies). But the message I got from the epic was: working for Redemption.

  • Dantes Divine Comedy was satirical (being a comedy).

And cristianity now is not what it was in the dark ages, more or less.

But since im not a cristian, here i'll keep my mouth shut on the topic of religion itself.

  • A "comedy" in the classic sense simply means it has a good ending (as opposed to a tragedy).

While there is a lot of social commentary/critique in Dante's work, I wouldn't say it's satirical.

  • If i remember correct it was meant to be satirical, well in description atleast,

at the time, lest the church do more than crack its knuckles, with a mean look, from the distance.

  • @Kosomaddo hey dante was catholic and alot of the tortures that the bible talked about youre sin and everything is what dante put in the book.just saying for both you guys

  • @Kosomaddo

Divine Comedy was originally named only COMEDY after wards divine was added. To be honest after reading the book i came to the fact that he was not making fun of your religion only of the priests and other people that used it for their own wealth. I'm not Cristian and if anyone thinks that I'm offending anyone I wont post anymore and delete this

  • @Woodsyone Kosomaddo is corect, the Divien Comidy is supposed to describe, in deatal, the three differnt kindoms of the after life.

  • @Woodsyone Yeah christianity was more... "mythological" if i can say in those days, more mysterious .

  • The Divine Comedy wasn't intended to be treated as biblical canon since barely anything in it besides the devil and faith in God can be connected to the Bible. There is indeed not a single notion in the Bible of a "Hell" but since the Divine Comedy was a form of tribute to Christianity it was regarded as biblical canon until just some 10 years ago.

The Divine Comedy was meant as a tribute to Beatrice and Dante was a Christian in the 1300s, you figure out why it was considered biblical canon...

  • true back then alll u had to do was put some politicians in hell and now all u have to do is hire a japanese animation studio to make an incredibly gory movie

  • @draketheduelist just to clarify Dante wrote this in response to being exiled if I'm not mistaken. That's why there are several religious leaders of the time in the poem. This was a kinda smear campaign against the church. At least this is what I was told.

  • @draketheduelist i think thats kind of a shitty perception. granted dante didnt get a number of facts and names right whilst writing the divine comedy. its considered a literary masterpeice that has held interest through the ages. i find that the game and horrendously sketchy anime being made are merely influenced by the poem, and shouldnt share the same name. they may share the same imagery however i can only assume that the message will be drastically different, $ signs above all else....

  • @draketheduelist Actually, I believe he was exiled in response to the political atmosphere of the day - it wasn't related to any of his works of literature. It was that the party opposite his took over Florentine government and exacted revenge. He wrote the Divine Comedy mostly after his exile, anyway.

  • @draketheduelist I am currently reading The Inferno and I think that this movie is loyal to the book so far! I haven't yet played the game but I do enjoy the book! The movie did to me exactly what you said! It made me want to read the original story! Which i would recommend to anyone!

  • @draketheduelist: Why would Dante's Divine Comedy have to be loyal to biblical canon? He called it Dante's Divine Comedy (and comedy in this sense allready makes it clear that it's fiction). So i don't see anything wrong. However would he have called it "The Holy Bible" now THAT would be a problem. And that's exactly the problem the game and the anime has - it claims to be something that it is not - it's simply NOT Dante's Inferno.

  • @draketheduelist or mabye they just come up with exuses to say that kratos is better than dante i hope kratos is drowning in his victoms blood in hell

  • @draketheduelist he wrote the Divine Comedy after he was exiled, and there's a big difference between reworking aspects of mythology, religion and history to fit into a complex literary masterpiece than using it to make big bucks selling a product. Not to say that the game isn't good.

  • @draketheduelist I just have to correct this, Dante was not exiled because of his writings, he was exiled because of political conflicts and the pope was a dick at that time, he wrote inferno during his exile and he shaped the modern view of hell, he did not distort the bible since small things keeps changing with it.

  • @draketheduelist Most people dont realize how boring a game would be based off of the poem entirely. Who would want to play a game where you walk, look, and pass out. I think the game was masterfully done, and i think Viseral had alot of balls to even attempt this project let alone deliver fantastically.

  • @swimmingmango I heard they made a movie of Dantes inferno, but it was different then the book,if so they need to make a new movie, and base it on the anime.:D

  • The book is still more violent...

  • I got and just watched the movie...damn it's bad ass...there just so much I want to say...AAAHHH!!! I love it...and I think him not being an american made me love hom more...

  • No dantes inferno isn't a book it us an epic poem like beowolf or odyess and no the actual poem just describes hell but it still is a good read

  • The only way to make Dante's Inferno more annoying would be to make it an anime and, well, there you are.

  • bad asss movie

  • he's not american

  • well bitch then u should go make ur own movie without the american hero and stop bitching gosh...

  • why the hell did dante's appearance change throughout the movie?? how dumb was that.

  • @jarjar231 Because differnt people drew him. Sort of like Halo Legends and the Animatrix.

  • i watched this movie it was epic im going to buy both the game and movie as soon as possible

  • @Samuzas666 did dante say that girl and did they both escape hell?

  • yes and yes

the girl goes to heaven and dante goes to purgatory

if your really interested read the poem D:

  • As an English major I enjoy adaptations and all that so this doesn't look too bad...but I recommend that you read the book first.

  • is it good?

  • @takumiscion technically the movie and the game just took the 9 circles of hell and not the whole plot for instance dante didnt fight demons in the poem instead he talked coherently to them and convinced them but i like the way "dante uses" his power of conviction here..but people should totally read the book is very interesting

  • Oh yea I know I have seen what they done and I like it, but you probably know that most people now a days wouldn't even know some of the famous characters that are in the book...

  • @colombiantom hey what is the poem called is this movie based off the poem if it is i want to read it

  • @systemofadownftw well if you refer to the book itself is called dante's inferno or the inferno by dante just like the game there is many translations of the book so the publisher may vary from book to book but if you are interested in it any will be good

  • actually it is based on the game since dante was not going through hell in search of Beatrice in the book, the game is just an interpretation of the the book. How can the movie not reflect the game if the movie is almost frame by frame an exact copy?

  • WTF i can´t believe people like siemn78 exist, o holly shit, what happend to this world

  • @jp294808 actually its this movie is based on the game which THAT is based on the book but edited with a few bits and bobs.

and i have read half the story and its a poem not book, so ur the uneducated one :) sorrry

  • lol shit that poem might as well be a book, at least a small one haha

  • actually this movie is based on the game

  • This was a terrible movie IMO. Dead space atleast had a half decent animated movie. This one was awful ending in Dante crying and failing to kill the devil and crying to god. And then he gets free at the end of some sort thats retarded honestly. I thought the movie would surpass the game but i was SO SO SO WRONG! There is no way the game is worse then this.

  • @ManowarHeigou Yeah, this wasn't based on a game. This is Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy: Infernae, a literary classic written in the 14th Century.

  • @ManowarHeigou the game is made much better this is the original story

  • holy shit how could i have missed this, (runs towards the closest videostore).

  • I always felt this was better done as a live action/CG movie or in this case animated movie instead of a game.

  • @midvalley009 Why? :S Can't really see this as anything but a game...

  • Don't get me wrong I have no problem that it's a game but seeing it as just a game i don't understand that part, considering Dante's Inferno was a book first and that book, sorry those book's were based off the poem "The Devinne Comedy." so based off of that I could easily see this as being one messed up ass move of any kind live action, cg ,or animated. I think my issue towards the game is because i don't really like God of War and this game is more or less made by the same guy. No hate.

  • I wonder if watching this will spoil the story for the game. If so I'd rather play the game first.

  • @misc4jb Dare ya to read the book and see if it screws the game up for you. (It won't)

  • the thing about this is not how nice the animation is, is the concept (7 sins) behind the stroy and how they portray it.

  • i saw this movie and it's pretty fucking awesome!

  • it would of been cool if this comes with the pre order of the game

  • Thanks God! Yeah!

  • AMEN

  • this movie is awesome i saw it 2 days ago

  • where did you see it i cant find it?

  • I downloaded it (bootleg). I really dont know where to go see it sorry!

  • I saw it today and its fucking bad ass

  • where did you see it?, i cant find it

  • the movie will be out 2/2/2010 on dvd

  • How does Satan looks ?Impressive or not ???And is ending good or bad ?

    :PPP

  • I saw the movie and the ending. Does somone know if the game and the movie are the same?? Or else it's the huge spoiler for the game :(

    Someone??

  • I thik it is.I should not watch the movie if u want to play the game.Game 1st than the movie....but,what do u think ?Is it good or bad ?

  • well the movie was good and showed some stuff. But it was a bit different from the demo. I really dont know

  • What a load of crap! This looks like a interesting movie to watch but frack! Just looking at the trailer (and having read the complete divine comedy) this is nothing like it! They could have called this something else and said that it's based upon Dante's inferno. I mean, he was a poet not a soldier! He might have fought in the guelf and ghibelline wars in the late 1200 but common!

  • i agree with you but hey this movie is based on the new video game by the same name and who would want to play a videogame about a poet?

  • @reyfari Yes well. The poem kicks ass, but it would make a terrible game/movie if you tried to be any more faithful to the source material.

I mean, Dante repeatedly faints and has to be practically dragged along by Virgil. :|

At least the basic concept (touring the 9 levels) is the same.

  • would a poet wandering through hell make a fun video game? No, it wouldn't.

  • Hahah! That is very true, I still don't like this and think they should have done this differently. I mean, after all, it's not really a love story, nobody is killed in hell except the damned, over and over again. But it's true what you guys are saying about the game, also, I don't think they'll make a game/movie out of vol. 2 and vol. 3!

  • This movie is awesome, I saw it today.

  • where did you see the movie?

  • movie is really good apart from some weirdly drawn charackters(look closly at his mother in the tree)

  • LOL, she's dead, why is he fighting... dude, get a new GF, seriously.

  • @emmathebeast

they were both good you just had to be in to that kind of book

  • fuck that i want the game and the movie NOW!!!CANT W8 so long

  • release date ? pls i know the date of the game witch is Tuesday 09 February 2010 but i want to know when the movie will be ready

  • The movie is out now!!!! just hit the underground circuit

  • First a video game, NOW A MOVIE?!?!?! Life doesn't get any better than this. :D

  • It was a epic poem first

  • i agree

  • i want the game! but i want god of war 3 too...going to buy this when its a bit cheaper

  • this is real art

there is nothing more to say

  • i like the book

  • cant wait for this and the game

  • did anyone else catch the mispelling of Samurai champloo?

it says Samauri Champloo at 14 seconds

  • i dont want to play it, because i dont have any console, i want to see the anime... if there is .. lol

  • HOLY SHIIIIITTT!!!!!!!!

  • @deathexcalibur you've got that right

  • they should of done a cgi movie. u see the cut scen in the game they looked pretty sweet. i will be picking up the game feb 9. might rent the movie, if i like it i will buy it

  • I wish there were animated movies for all 3 God of War games.

  • yeah that wold be sick

  • Indeed.

  • @KingNazaru provided they didn't screw it up like some movies do.

  • well they twisted it up becuase it would attract today's audience I guess lolz

    I can't judge, till i've seen it

  • how would you like to play a game where the main character faints all the time and has to be carried most of the way

  • @dragoon6736 hahahahah I agree XD

  • @xXxpl1cit you idiot, it is why they say "comes a breathtaking NEW VISION of dante alighieri's medieval clasic", 'cuz it is nothing close to the actual book.

  • @xXxpl1cit Because its based off the video game.
