I like the idea of the tax but this advert is retarded. It shows people robbing a banker, even if it was a small amount. Theft against anyone should not be used as a marketing tool, especially for this tax as it is meant to be in the spirit of charity. It should show the banker voluntarily coming round, like Bill Nighy's ad.
This is a nice idea but it doesnt solve the problem. The problem is that banks create our money! At interest! The answer is so unbelievable, you probably wont believe it! Henry Ford put it like this:- "It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." Watch " Where does money come from ". search you tube, or you can find a copy on my channel
It is ironic . . . Robin Hood was not a tax collector . . . He robbed tax collectors. . . A true Robin Hood venture would rob from the governments and give the people back their tax money.
ha haaaa. never seen such drivel in my life. you think this will solve our problems??? this is, just another distraction technique, let us all believe that this tax will change things, for the the truth is that we are the 99% and they are but cowards. to allow yourself to be duped by such blatant propaganda would be cowardly itself. Research, Inspire, Change!!!
maybe the people wearing hoodies should just get jobs??...instead of sucking the system dry!...fair enough for the tax....but this advert is just stupid!...it almost promotes behavior like the London riots...just take what u want?!? steal?!? mind you...whoever came up with the tax obviously has no idea about collateralised debt obligations or finance at all...because this tax on the banks...taxes YOU...not the people who work for the banks!...that's what you people missed in the small print!

you know i can agree with this.. but on the other hand. our government doesn't half to give the banks anything. its up to us to stop future bail outs. if a company is reckless then that's there fault, let them go down. letting people/company's get away with things will just encourage them to do whatever they want without consequence. just like a child without punishment
@ultamatefrogmaster I hope you're just making an attempt at a joke...Obviously the majority of transactions would be made electronically therefore allowing decimal denominations...

@yopizza Thought the whole point was they were playing with stereotypes! And no-one was being portrayed as a thug, they gave all but what they were owed back, which is more than what the banking bastards who got us into this mess have done!
@yopizza Bankers are evil when they take money from governments for bailouts and then award their CEOs big millions in bonuses. I love this idea and I would hope it would spread to the US but not with the fucking tea party asshats and Republican jackasses having their way.
@TheConnorian I won't vote for any republican. They wanted cuts for the rich to make more jobs.. well they did it but where are the jobs??? LIARS! Steal from the poor to give to the rich. Reps. sell us out to the lobbyists.
@Kewian2 He may be republican but in my opinion he'd do better representing his views by going it alone. The rich will lobby and the greedy politicians will do their bidding. But then again good luck finding that person, ron paul is the closest you can get and in this day and age, trying really won't hurt as bad as letting the status quo go on.

who set this ridiculace 0.05% rate? the public get hammered for 17.5% on EVERYTHING!!!! and whislt they mutter discontent, they pay it! Strikes me as the robinhood tax has been set up by bankers to suit bankers and they hope this disgusting percentage will shut the masses up, they are higher rate earners! let them pay 50%, if they make that much they dont need it! they just want it! i want many things but have to be satisfied with less
The voice of one person cannot change the world, but the voice of many can.
I cant see how charging 0.05% tax to banks to help bring us out of recession is a bad thing ?
Think of it this way banks deal in billions so 0.05% of 1 billion is 500,000 which to them is nothing but to us everyday people we could support 5 large families comfortably for a whole year and still have money left over to take them all on holiday 4 times.
@Cal1skater so we can help 4 families? hardly solving our trillion pound debt problem!...useless waste of time......oh yeah and....if you read about the tax in detail and you understand finance you will see that it will be YOU paying the tax not the bankers!....who's money do you think they trade with!!
So many just don't get it! They are so thick that they think they are going to be taxed! The stupid know no bounds, eh? The banks caused this and this is a way to recoup some funds from them that won't unduely hurt them and will save on higher taxes FOR ALL OF US and hopefully save the jobs of ordinary people. Against the RHT? Then you are just a lacky to the fat cats, end of!
You need to be careful not to allow governments to handle this money. No government projects either or it will just go around in a circle back to the money masters via the bullshit climate change legislation, for example.
The simple reason being that banks rule this planet, and the most us peasants can hope for is they don't decide to trample us on a whim.
They nearly collapsed the world economy, simply because they stopped loaning money. They then blackmailed everyone for a ever increasing number of trillions; and we couldn't even get any conditions for giving them that money.
Then they went on holiday, with our money.
Do we sound like we have any leverage over these people?
Is 0.05% small or is $700bn big? It can't be both, can it. How many more times than annual banking profits is this, hmm? Where would it come from, ultimately? Banking is a service industry, so charges just get passed on to clients. Who would end up paying for this?
people in power have one thing on there minds more than anything else, Keeping that power. simple enough idea, if this endevor is allowed to come to fruitian, WE THE PEOPLE could potentialy end all wars and the reason for wars without a single shot being fired. theres too many of us for the elite to control anymore, therefore, this idea cannot fail, the reason being? well i will divulge that to anyone who wishes to respond to this message..........................................................
main character noel clarke..big up to the actor, loved kidulthood, adulthood, all his films 4,3,2,1 loved them all hope he brings more good films out for the uk pure british films, makes me proud to be british.
@karlos4821 Exactly, take from the robbing bankers and give to the thieving politicians who are taxing everything due to the global warming bull shit. It's called climate change as thats what it is, They just keep pushing more lies to get more money out the sheep who follow. Notice they have gone a little quiet on global warming since all the snow last year. Numbskulls still believe it though. It's hard to believe how stupid most people are. GREAT BRITAIN MY ARSE
We should tax the Rich, the Banks and, the wealthy as they PAY people to do everything they can, just to pay less on tax & they also claim bk tax more than a normal person can as well which isent right... so i say Yes Introduce this and see that LITTLE change makes a BIG diffrence! =D
Charging 0.05% tax to get a comparatively miniscule compensation for the mess and financial cost the bankers have caused the economies and ordinary HONEST people of the world is mugging?
The bankers have been the muggers and it's time for payback..!
Charging 0.05% tax to get a comparatively miniscule compensation for the mess and financial cost the bankers have caused the economies and ordinary HONEST people of the world is mugging?
The bankers have been the muggers and it's time for payback..!
Is it not fair that the Banks give a little, to a good cause? Baring in mind tax payers had to sacrifice a sum for when the banks were in need, now they can return the favour.
@Caminitaa US banks have already repaid their bailouts and the UK government now owns RBS and Lloyds so quite frankly they can do what they want with them but they can't just "steal" a load of money off them because they feel like helping out a good cause. This is not what banks are for!
@iluvfootballskating I'm pushing as hard as i can! I'm an American who wants equal footing for all. U guys keep pushing on your end, i'll be pulling on my end. WE WILL MAKE THIS WORK! I promise.
@trillian1964 its not all taxes but it is the misuse and improper function of the state.im tired of this argument as well.1)comparing the most underpaid and important federal employees ie cops and fireman to recipients of redistribution of wealth who do nothing but breathe to earn their ill gotten gains is ludicrous.2)if you look at reason magazine (or was it john stosel?) piece on prvt roads you may change your mind.3)notice how they are selling this thing on the amount.why do they do thatiask
Anyone who has sympathy for the banks is their asset.
Anyone who opposes change is a coward and their asset.
Anyone who doesn't even want to attempt to challenge the banks is, lazy, a coward and their asset
Anyone who opposes action on climate change is looking for an argument for the sake of it. You sit there and say it's a natural proccess, well, whats the harm in trying to reduce carbon emisions? Search pascals wager on wikipedia and apply it to climate change.
I bet it would be fascinating to see what groups would get their snout in the trough of these billions in revenue from this scheme (and please explain how billions are going to be received but banks and customers won't feel it), and I'd bet double that there will be absolutely no transparency in the accounting for those billions. This plan is just another scam, probably cooked up by bankers.
You don´t need to create any taxes, if the interest system is the same. It doesn´t matter. In this video is the lie of "climat warming" too. I don´t want to share this.
brilliant idea, this coupled with scrapping trident would be a huge step in the right direction. trident costs 100 billion dollars and we don't need it, no one can stand against the old one anyway.
@SMART599, It would be fantastic if all the banks and the financial sector will simply leave !!! We won't be that lucky !! They'll find their way. Don't worry!!
@miriamrekalde Really? Did you attend college? How did you pay for it? Did you grow up in a home? How did your parents pay for it? Are you insured? Do you keep your money under your mattress? How did you pay for the computer your using or the use of the facilities where the computer sits? What you're saying is ridiculous.
I am really not sure if you actually get it! Sure, tax the rich for the poor ok, that is great from an altruistic sense. However I assume you realise that the 'taxed' just raise their charges so that the tax is covered, so in other words they move the tax burden from themselves, to the customers, so in effect it is just another tax we all have to bear. Before you all howl me down with "its not on personal banking" the same applies, the businesses incur costs and they are passed down the line.
@simolatham03 lol, you're talking about getting a good education and you can't even spell pathetic... Or Britain. Here's an idea: how about everyone on a low wage goes on strike, then wait till this fucker loses his mind. Trust me, it won't take long to appreciate that this country hinges on the jobs done by the poor. Bin men, lorry drivers, factory workers, shop workers, roadsweepers, garage forecourt workers, the list goes on.
@immadep É um anúncio que explica que basta tirar 0.05% aos bancos por cada transação que eles façam para fazer dinheiro suficiente para equilibrar as coisas relativamente à crise financeira mundial. No parlo italiano solo português :P
@simolatham03 And how much/long is one supposed to work to deserve billions, he????!!!! Rich people only get rich because they keep the added value and even parts of the monetary value of other peoples provided performance to themselves! So basically, "successful" people steal money from employees. And just because they can, not because they deserve!
this is how harry potter should and. Draco being a good guy.
really good campaign. I wish they would do this in Holland. all the big bonusses people working at banks are getting. it got us into a crisis, and still they are just spending and spending.
don't really understand how ANYONE can object to this. if you do, you either don't understand what they intend to do or you're just a fucking idiot. simple as that.
First of all, I've worked in the City for a number of years. Taxes like this lead to less efficient markets, decreasing marking liquidity, less efficient price-finding and harms the industry that provides 9% of our GDP and 14% of our Value Added Tax. And we're the idiots? Way too many people here commenting on something they know nothing about.
@aliray79 If that was really the point they should have took all his stuff, kick him in the nuts, break into his house and take everything but the kitchen sink because that's what the banks and the government are doing. Let some of those fortunate people feel a little bit of the pains of the world they help create.
@berryesque Thanks for the info about the amount. Even not knowing what the coin denominations are, one can see it was very little the hoodied folk took away.
Wish they would do this in America! It's getting ridiculous how much the big companies and banks are getting rewarded for all of their horrible choices, and the people are still being punished by having the money taken away from programs that need it.
@lovesthecomma pass this vid around to your friends, "like" it on social networking sites. Hold community meetings and show the vid. The money thing is easily translatable to American language.
@lovesthecomma "Don't think about it... DO IT! Don't talk about it... just DO IT... Don't worry about it... just DO IT DO IT DO IT!" Pink Fairies - Do it. From the LP Never Never Land.
Seriously though lovesthecomma, this is how things get started, first someone has an idea, and then it begins to grow as more hear about it, and either participate in the organising or spread the word... make it go viral by sharing this and some of the other vids in America, even if it's not you, someone will...
@TheWayWeDie I grasp the point of the argument but just saying I think it's poorly portrayed in this way. There has to be a more positive way of getting this message across, even though I don't agree with the whole idea
@TheWayWeDie Taxes are perceived by the rich as mugging. This portrays the reality of people who have little or nothing asking for just a little that would mean a lot. The tax is also meant to reduce the number of risky transactions that have done damage to the economy and the environment.
@aliray79 but doesn't this way show the contrast? like your expecting them to take everything, just like thugs, yet all they take what, 5p? thats absolutely nothing to him, and they're not aggressive, they walk off smiling and say thanks
American banks have returned every cent they were given in bailouts PLUS 8 1/2%! The American Government has made a PROFIT on the bailout. If you leave your system alone, it'll heal itself as well. Muck it up with taxes, no matter what the size, and you're causing the pain of economic recession to continue for longer than necessary.
@ArmyFtBall You are talking nonsense. The US has 1576 Billion $ of debts after the financial crisis. It's not just the bailouts but also the economical damage - job losses, faul credits, people loosing homes - that the crisis has created. Marcets heal themselves? Bullshit! If the states hadn't bailed out banks there would have been the total collaps. That's your selfhealing? How stupid must one be to continue believing this ideological nonsense?
I like the idea of the tax but this advert is retarded. It shows people robbing a banker, even if it was a small amount. is it like:
they buy security X for $1,000,000 and they pay 0.0005*1,000,000= $501
sell it for $1,002,000 and pay 0,0005*$1,002,000 = $501
that is $1001 tax
profit before tax - $1,002,000 - $1,000,000 = $2000
after tax: $999
tax rate: (1001/2000)*100% = 50.05% !!!
?
if it really works like that, calling it 'nothing' is ridiculous.

Strikes me as the robinhood tax has been set up by bankers to suit bankers and they hope this disgusting percentage will shut the masses up, they are higher rate earners! let them pay 50%, if they make that much they dont need it! they just want it! i want many things but have to be satisfied with less

Instead of a tax on the banks we need to do away with fractional reserve/ or make them keep a much higher percentage i.e. 60%

Cal1skater 1 year ago
@Cal1skater so we can help 4 families? hardly solving our trillion pound debt problem!...useless waste of time......oh yeah and....if you read about the tax in detail and you understand finance you will see that it will be YOU paying the tax not the bankers!....who's money do you think they trade with!!
VinylProductions 2 months ago
So many just don't get it! They are so thick that they think they are going to be taxed! The stupid know no bounds, eh? The banks caused this and this is a way to recoup some funds from them that won't unduely hurt them and will save on higher taxes FOR ALL OF US and hopefully save the jobs of ordinary people. Against the RHT? Then you are just a lacky to the fat cats, end of!

You need to be careful not to allow governments to handle this money. No government projects either or it will just go around in a circle back to the money masters via the bullshit climate change legislation, for example.
TheVindicated1 1 year ago
Never going to work.

Is it not fair that the Banks give a little, to a good cause? Baring in mind tax payers had to sacrifice a sum for when the banks were in need, now they can return the favour.
Caminitaa 1 year ago
@Caminitaa US banks have already repaid their bailouts and the UK government now owns RBS and Lloyds so quite frankly they can do what they want with them but they can't just "steal" a load of money off them because they feel like helping out a good cause. This is not what banks are for!

@TheWayWeDie Taxes are perceived by the rich as mugging. This portrays the reality of people who have little or nothing asking for just a little that would mean a lot. The tax is also meant to reduce the number of risky transactions that have done damage to the economy and the environment.

ArmyFtBall 1 year ago
@ArmyFtBall You are talking nonsense. The US has 1576 Billion $ of debts after the financial crisis. It's not just the bailouts but also the economical damage - job losses, faul credits, people loosing homes - that the crisis has created. Marcets heal themselves? Bullshit! If the states hadn't bailed out banks there would have been the total collaps. That's your selfhealing? How stupid must one be to continue believing this ideological nonsense?
