  • what song was that at the end?

  • @XMcEvilson of cursed womb

  • The only thing I don't liek about this is you cant teach people how to play "progressive metal" thats the point of it being progressive.

  • his lower splash is a fucking jewel sounds so great

  • Hahaha: "and listen to a lot of progressive metal music."

  • No, not even close.

  • This guy kicks major ass. Check out his insane drumming Blotted Science

  • chicks dig it

  • lol

  • now I like this guy

  • Dream Theater!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the last part with the live performance is to explain the normal part of odd meter??? haha impressive!!! amazing player!!!!

  • king crimson rules!

  • HON IS HE TALKING TO AT 0:42???

  • The camera angle just changed, you tit

  • wat you mean''you tit''?Btw,i was juz kidding!!!^_^

  • Charlie Zeleny is a tit. A very good tit

  • What is a ''tit''?

  • "What is a tit" -HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • oOO....NO a person says tit so i follow tit...lol...tit..tit..tit...That's a nice name...

  • Weird you never mentioned Rush or Neil Peart.

  • 3:04 "But over all you have to make odd meter feel normal, and the only way to do that is to really concentrate and get beyond the numbers and practice over and over and over and loop, And listen to Behold... The Arctopus." XP

    Great video anyway.

  • charlie zeleny is the reason im going back to school for music

  • The song at the end is Of Cursed Womb by Behold the Arctopus.

  • nice explanation dude! i think ur the best teacher.. lol

  • WHAT KIND OF MUSIC WAS THAT AT THE END......i couldnt understand anything at the end when he was playing live

  • behold the arctopus. progressive 'tech' metal. if you apply what chuck was saying throughout this video and his others, his band gets much easier to listen to.

  • ohhhh

  • I reccomend listening to his other band, Blotted Science. Much better than Behold... The Arctopus in my opinion.

  • I don't get all the Behold... The Arctopus hate personally >_> I think they sound amazingly catchy. Especially Nano Nucleonic Cyborg Summoning.

  • Ok, got it.. demo 0ne was odd meter, demo 2 was 4/4 with off beat accents. Still playing 4/4 on the hats. Maybe I have been doing this too long, and it comes natural. But it doesn't seem like odd meter to me.

Anyway, this guy is a great teacher, I have been watching his vids in here and after 40 years of playing drums, he has given me some great insight into playing double bass. Something I have resisted till now. Keep it comming drumdoc. Your helping my kids learn too!

  • The second isn't 4/4. It's 15/16, just like he says. You know the way they teach you to count 16ths in the beginning? 1 e & a 2 e & a, etc... well, try it along with his hi-hats. You'll notice that the final a is missing if you want to keep in time with him. It can be hard to notice or mistaken easily due to it's closeness to 4/4, but it's definitely odd meter rather than accenting.

  • Ok.. decent drummer, but is it me, or are we not dealing with odd meter, but accent? I will listen again, but I have been around a while. More to come.

  • "Odd" literally meaning an odd number of beats per measure, such as 7 or 15, vs the more common 4 or 8 or 16 beats per measure.
