The point is, Obama has done a great deal in this time period for the resources he had (a party that shoves its ass in the face of any policy that may help the Democrats politically). I honestly though a health care bill would never be passed. And I'm surprised a few Republicans actually vote with him.

Trust me, there is at this moment no real willing-and-able replacement for Obama. And not voting for him is essentially voting for a Republican. And that's something we all agree is abhorrent.

You're quite right. We don't really care what you say. Obama is at 45% approval. Reagan was at 37% or so when he got reelected.

The fact is, the Republicans cannot get a substantial opposition to this man. The fact is, the Republicans have proven themselves to be devoid of ideas. All they say is "Repeal this, repeal that". They're too used to slander to remind themselves of real policy discussions when 2012 arrives.

No candidate is really strong enough to win a primary but Obama, in my opinion. Ousting him would destroy the morale behind the base of hopefuls who wanted to see change. Politically speaking.

Anyway, not many could do better than Obama. Clinton failed entirely to pass any health reform. His housing-market policies were bad. He hardly reformed finances.

It's not Obama's fault that the bills are watered down. Thank the Senate and the filibuster for that.
