i have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra and my girlfriend a 2009 Corolla and let me tell you something,Hyundai is making very good cars today,not the crappy ones they used to built in the 80's and 90's and the Elantra quality of construction and materials is excellent ,same as the Corolla.

Korean cars gouge the price on replacement parts like no other. You'd think it was made of stainless steel. I pay double the normal rate for brakepads that only lasted 41K miles on my Kia (korean inept auto). After 30K miles the high pressure side steering pump oil line leaked and costs $213.64. I know that if I got a Mercedes I'd win in the long run, like say after 100K miles right when your warranty is up and you realize you should have changed the transmission oil every 50K

I have an Elantra 2008(42k) it had service yesterday ,i drive a lot and still have brakepads for a while,and no problems AT ALL,you said after 30k YOU paid for repairs or your steering pump oil line??what happened with the warranty,your warranty,probably you don't know that you have to give maintenance and void your warranty since you are paying for parts and repairs,then your pretense is :( "Korean inept auto")

Kia only had a 24K warranty or 2 years whichever came first. The main point was the cost of replacement parts and Mercedes Benz actually saving everyone money more in the not too long run.

24K warranty?? 2 years?? where do you live that they offer too short period of warranty coverage,here in Canada Hyundai/Kia offer 5 years -100000 km comprehensive and powertrain warranty.

And Mercedes,the best ,luxury brand.

Corolla's are what I call the 'safety' cars...

I mean if you think about it mostly all of the DMV's have corollas as the testing car, because they're more 'reliable' and safer.

So I would say go for the corolla if you're going for a simple, basic car...But on the other hand for the 'cool factor' I would say go for the Matrix, if you're more of a fast driver ;]

Toyota, I think you guys are trying to hard to compete with Mazda on styling, and honestly, the Mazda3 styling looks much smoother. May be its just me, the Matrix seems to have unincorporative panels here and there. And stealing the 240sx coupe headlight from Nissan isn't nice either.

Toyota screwed up again, in my opinion. The all new Matrix just doesn't do anything for me. It's homely, not sporty enough, too expensive for what it doesnt have, and just doesn't compare to the VW Rabbit or Mazdaspeed 3.

The camry's engine has much much more potential than the previous XRS. The Camry motor is boost friendly and will easily do 350hp with STOCK internals.

If you turbo the previous XRS motor, you'll be picking up engine parts for a week.

I don't about the US but here in Canada we're given the choice between two motors:

4 cyl., 1,8L, 132 hp and an 4 cyl., 2,4L, 158 hp that seems a more interesting option.
