Just how stupid are you people? shes lip syncing. shes doing it because the music production of this song put a more beautiful women in the video because the other one (real singer) was gaining weight, and they didn't put people that were "fat" back then in music videos.
@xxyc21@xxyc21 The song sampled Loleatta Holloway's 1980 disco hit "Love Sensation" and Jennifer Holliday's 1985 "No Frills Love" (see /watch?v=MiJ2B8PFjqU for full explanation).
Loleatta Holloway did the actual singing on this track. Martha Wash did the actual singing on Everybody Everybody as well as most C&C Music Factory songs. These two divas got virtually no credit at the time these songs were at their peak. It was up to the DJ's at the time to let the public know who actually sang them. That is if the public didn't already recognize the voices. Great song of 1989, I just thought it was shady how the group treated the actual singer(s).
@OURTIMEISNOW2009 this particular version is the resung version with another singer,, they had to rerecord it after getting sued by loleatta and dan hartman..if you listen closely this is not even the original stolen version. i tell you the music industry can be so shady especially in the late 80's early 90's
This song is one of two that Marsha Wash of the Weathergirls sang for others at about the same time (the other was for C+C Music Factory) for which neither band gave her any credit and in fact credited others (Loweeta Holiday for this song). Martha sued both Black Box and C+C and WON, but in the process got herself blackballed by the industry. Rather sad, that. Size-ism sucks.
Very long time I searched for this song almost everywhere not knowing title and singer, knowing only this hit from my former outings to clubs...And it's happened!!! I found it! That was a fantastic time!!! Let's go back to the 90' ;)))
why on earth did they not have the woman who actually sings the song not appear in the video? surely if itss your voice box you should take the full credit!
So this is the third version? The Marsha Walsh Version? This sounds even less like the Loletta Halloway sampled original than the Heather Small "Remix".....
@NY3UVL714 Thanks for clarifying. The original is epic!
I did think it was a third version, the backing vocals on the intro in particular sound very different, surprised it is more Heather Small vocals. I have to say, it's a shame BlackBoxHouse is using this version. To my ears it sounds like a poor karaoke imitation of the remix, let alone the original.
I will have to relisten to the second version, I didn't pick up on Loleatta's vocals in the chorus.
why did they always have this tranny looking female in all their videos? i know they didn't wanna use walsh but they could have gotten a better looking chick.
It always amazes me that back in the day Katrin was claiming to be the lead singer and had the ability to sound like Martha Wash AND Loleatta Halloway or Heather Small, depending on whichever version of "Ride On Time" was in the tape machine for any given performance.
On the other hand, despite claims to the contrary, I believe Katrin is all woman and always has been.
@whondsaname You're young. When the Milli Vanilli scndal broke it was quite a sensation. It was pretty much the first time a known artist was exposed as a fraud.
@NY3UVL714 Still....you can hardly call it an 90s song. It's like saying True Faith or Blue Monday were great 90s songs because they were remixed in the 90s.
I have always loved this song! This was one of the first "CDs" I ever bought. But that's not the Loleatta Holloway version we're hearing. No way. They re-recorded it with a few vocalists after they got sued for using Loleatta's vocals without her permission. That singer you hear is pretty amazingly close to cloning every nuance, but that's NOT Loleatta. I'd wager on it....!
@AsboDolche ACTUALLY THIS VERSION IS HEATHER SMALLS VOICE FROM M PEOPLE THERE WAS 2 VERSIONS LOLEATTA SINGS ON THE SAME TRACK BUT THERES 2 VERSIONS DUE TO COPYRIGHT XX TWACCE
@AsboDolche Dies ist die 2te Version von Black Box. Das ist nicht Loleatta Holloway!!! Das ist die von M People... . Die Holloway Version (Also die erste) ist besser!!!

So this is the third version? The Marsha Walsh Version? This sounds even less like the Loletta Halloway sampled original than the Heather Small "Remix".....
lonelysymphony 1 year ago
@lonelysymphony YES and NO! Yes, this is the third version of the song. Martha Wash NEVER performed Ride On Time.
The first version 1988/89 was the Loleatta Holloway sampled original.
The second version was Heather Small remix from which still featured Loleatta's voice on the chorus.
This third version uses the Heather Small vocal and replaces Loleatta's chorus with Black Box's own studio singers.
