What a piece of crap. Song wouldn't have even got past the production stage if it wasn't for McCartney's reputation. Talk about resting on your laurels. Only thing good about the video is Gabrielle Anwar.
Raw sewage. The cunt needs to hang.Yet again he has disgusted me to the point where I feel like throwing my computer in the garden.Nasty little man who I believe has trotters instead of feet.
Had the 12" of this! always liked the bass riff and 'ursa major/ursa minor' parts-I like it when Macca cuts lose and doesn't worry about the meat market. Terrible video tho......does nothing for the track at all
Anyone - what is THIS version of the song called? Is it availiable on record or is it exclusively for the clip? After hearing this version and loving it I hate to say but I was disapointed when hearing the album version, it's totally different! I want this version to own and play please help me, what is it on?
This is an amazing song. I love it. I don't know why it has been maligned so much by McCartney fans. But the video has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the song or lyrics?? Maybe that's why people had a problem with it (as it was his first single that didn't even chart in the US). But the fact that it opened with "She's Leaving Home" saved it for me. And I believe McCartney must have decided at the last minute to add SLH to make this video make some kind of sense and have some continuity.
i am 100% sure this is not the version on press to play because in this version he sings normally and this version has a slap bass. Also this version is equalized differently because you cant hear some of the instruments you ussually hear on press to play
It's been a long time indeed. I remember watching it as teenager, a slightly haunting story. Very experimental McCartney, great song. Thanks for posting and greetings from Italy.
Loved this song the moment I bought Press To Play, and when the video came out I was blown away: quite a story being told there. When Paul does a video, he does it with class and style.
great song.. underated ,one of pauls best very experimental...(possibly inspired by peter gabriel but who cares) this is an alternate version to the one on the album - love them both - quality
I agree with the person who related Paul to Peter Gabriel in this song ....is totally out of Paul's style but such a great song ....totally experimental for Paul ....great groove ...great ambience....I wonder what PG would say to this song ...
Yes, I have. Hence my take on his 1980s output. Mind you, it wasn't a total loss. "Take It Away" and "No More Lonely Nights" are exceptions including this one. But to be fair, he's had a long career and he can have an artistic losing streak. But thankfully, some of his best work has only been in the last 15 years. I'll take Flaming Pie over Press To Play anyday.
The main girl in this video is Gabrielle Anwar. She was extremely young in this video (About 14 OR 15), but as she got older throughout the 90's she did several movies & became one of my all-time biggest star crushes!
This version makes me happy in my pants.... lol. Love this version, wish I could find it on LimeWire or something... All I can find is the album version which kinda blows out the butt. The album version seems too much like karaoke.
So true. That album was produced stiffly. This porves the songs had more soul than the production allowed. Press the song needs a real makeover, for instance. Ed
Glad this has returned to you tube it keeps goin lol! thanx for posting! I have the Video Cassette of it - I would like to see stranglehold on you tube too ?
@audesemusic The album did reach number 8 in the UK, so whilst a flop by McCartney's standards, it still did pretty well.

great song" for me it's the best of the album. and i loved the video, especially the last seconds, the kiss in the ending. Was them Paul and Linda?

Probably the best thing he did during the his artistically poor early/mid 1980s output.
