  • i want to go there so bad. italy looks like so much fun!

  • Vanacuffo!!

    ^useful(:^

  • Nobody in Italy would act like that, unless they want to look totally ridiculous. Please, if you're tourists, DON'T imitate those gestures. Never ever do it for any reason. It's beyond awkward.

  • Tristezza a palate;soprattutto i commenti che dicono "è vero!";

    MA DOVE CAXXO VIVETE?

Neanche un terrone in crisi isterica gesticola così.

    Macchiette.

  • In argentina we use alot of italian words we speak loud and sound like them when we talk, and we also do the same gestures... really intresting.

  • I think its a fake Fredd Perry T-shirt

  • This is LAME. Latinos have 300 more different gestures. W-E-A-K!

  • Love that during the come here\go away bit the other guy just moves both arms and shoulder, which is another gesture! :) I don't even know how to express that in english.this is like:"I don't understand,I don't know what to do about it!" but it isn't quite correct. These vids are quite useful anyway!brava! :)

  • They forgot the wtf

  • Where in Italy was this video taken? The scenery looks so beautiful ...

  • @iduno14 That's Cortona, a town in Tuscany.

Great video! I'm Italian too, but even though I know what they mean, I never saw someone actually using "I'm hungry", "wonderful", "delicious" and "to leave or go away", just on TV...the others are pretty widespread though, particularly with old people :)

  • at 4:01 they do it also in Romania (kissing the finger)

  • Thanks for the video! Living in Naples, you definitely notice how the nonverbal form of communication here goes hand in hand with the spoken language. Beautiful country and wonderful people.

  • I love the location

  • NADA, YOUR FRIEND WITH THE GLASSES IS A LITTLE CUTIE !!! LOL

  • I'm italian and I hate it when people dance in front of me just to say "Where are you going?".

  • I'm italian. I live in the south of italy. You have to know that only in the south we do this gestures,it happens only in the south:in Calabria,in Sicily,in Campania etc.

I'm from Milan and I use normally this gesture.

  • @e1keita Ok tu.

  • @MegaSesil Hi dear, nope... I'm from Val d'Aosta and we use them too! And believe me the French and the Swiss move their hands a lot too: I can tell it as they are always overcrowding my mountains :D The only difference is that they can't match the message with the movements of their hands but they do... they do... :D

  • These are not realistic at all. If you scuff your hand under your chin like that you better be ready for a punch in the face.

  • Forgettaboutit!

  • the host is hott

  • some of them are like persian gestures..............

  • @sadeghsafari100 that only because persians copy alot of italian things

  • @icanfeelthebeat how are u sure that italians didn't copy from persian gustures????!

if u know the answer tell me and if no,shut the fuck up....

  • @sadeghsafari100 since when did persians come up with anything clever? ........thought so. nuff said.

  • this is soooo cool!

  • They have no problem communicating in space .

  • some of this gestures are used more in southern italy, which is also called "Terronia"

  • @Bubuu1984 people like u are called "racist" .. and just to add something to your ignorance "terrone" comes from latin that means "lover of our land"..

  • @994Dexter just because i said "Terronia" it doesen`t mean that I`m a racist. It`s just another way to say Southern Italy.

  • @Bubuu1984 i don't think so, but i can't do nothin to make you understand..

  • @994Dexter I never heard that. I know that they use the word, "terrone" now to mean, "land worker". It's a way to insult the Southerners who are less industrious. But I don't think I've ever heard of it deriving from the Latin for, "lover of our land". Where did you hear that?

  • @EnRicoTesoro I learned it from my old school teacher (south Italian teacher, i think that came from Reggio Calabria). But i lived for some years in Treviglio and Bergamo, where people use that word in a wrong way, offensive way, like ignorant or worse..

  • @Bubuu1984 Yes. Infact I live in a small city in Calabria (in the south of Italy) and many times people who came from the north call me ''Terrona'' that means (peasant of the south).

  • foggettabboutit XD

  • Where was that filmed? Nice town.

  • lovely italean people i like them

  • I'm italian and I don't realize I use gestures o.0

  • @DanteG9298 oh nice what is your name sir

  • 2:05 the italian Beetlejuice

  • I'm Spanish and I Want to learn Italian or Italiano por favor

  • I AM ITALIAN.... and since now I didn't know that fact, really!!!!!!

when I realized that we, italians, make lots of hand gestures I said to myself :

"I CAN'T BELIEVE IT !!" obviously with a huge hand sign, xD ROTFL

  • @terroncinopugliese

    xD made me laugh! lol

Every day things ppl dont know about them selves. :D

Personally, I've just decided to learn Italian.

  • @XeQzh0n ;) now I know why you are watching such kind of videos =)

but, seriously, I appreciate that. good luck and hope you'll enjoy this fantastic powerful language :D

    tanti saluti da Venezia!!

  • @terroncinopugliese XD It must be great to live where people are so emotional and happy! Where i am from you can not even talk to your neighbour on the bus cause people will assume you are an alcoholic or a junkie : - ) It is like we are all depressed sometimes.

  • E' quasi tutto girato a Cortona... Che Bella!!!!!!!

  • -.- We Hispanics, everybody does all of those gestures -.- not just italians -.-

  • Comment removed

  • @tristan2011ify maybe your ass do it better.... the whole world do all those gestures.. -.-

  • Comment removed

  • @tristan2011ify stfu... in my counrty we have european descent anyways ,,, and we do that shit since before the sun was created

  • Comment removed

  • @tristan2011ify -.- u know what .. just stop the conversation... stop thinking that italians are better than hispanics... and by the way, 36% of the hispanic population is white ;)

  • Comment removed

  • in north Italy we use less hand gestures, only when we're angry or in a animated discussion, in south Italy they use them regularly, and there are many more that are not shown here

  • Weird I feel like watching The Godfather now

  • that's 100% italian body language!

end there are many more! :o)

  • Since i was born, i'm in love with Italy, and my biggest dream is to go there once in my life :')

  • @bubumeilichan you will enjoy Italy very much for sure.

  • @bubumeilichan : I fall in love with Italy without visiting the country, like you I want to go there, too!!

  • HEY! I know that place, I was there once!

  • Im full blooded Italian, both sides of my family are from Genoa. I use my hands and I dont even realize it lol.

  • I have many Italian friends and nobody is using that signs ... never seen them ... this is an unreal clip and full stereotype. Many friends in Europe use their hands when they talk, it is a normal behaviour, not linked to the nationality !

  • bene

  • Im south american and latinos use alot of those gestures as well.

  • THe girl with the red bag..you are gorjus ;)

  • everyone really does this all the time when they speak? like nobody just talks WITHOUT hand motions?

  • @Cassidyx77 Its common to see people express themselves with hand guestures in italy... but not everyone does it.... italians tend to talk with hand guestures when they are Angry, or really Exited. lol

  • @mrtundra45 oh okay, thanks!

  • I WAAAAAAANNNNNNTTT TOO LIVE IN ITALY! <3 :) lol... this vid is kinda funny

  • Does it really matter what nationality u are I think most every where sum body uses at least ONE of these gestures I mean come on really? Get a grip this is not just a "Italian" thing lol it's humans way of expressing ourselfs;-)

  • Im looking for some translations..english to italian, and was wondering if anybody could help me out? Im actually trying to get in touch with my former gf, and she is a sucker for italian;) And no google translate for me, dont trust that stuff for this.

Msg me if you feel helpful:)

  • Ya its a nice i video ,but the people there are rude and dirty I would never go there again.

  • Hand gestures are good but the Italian of them is very bad

  • We use almost all of these gestures in Brazil, interesting...

  • Most italian gestures i've leared with Kramer, but in witch situation do we have to use the foot on the table?

  • very entertaining

  • Fantastic! We are really like this! ahahah

  • where is part 2?

  • Viva Italia!

  • @sandrodream1 I really would like somebody would make a study about what porcentaje of hand gestures we share with Italians!

  • oh my god... these are so similar to what we Indians do !!

  • FIST PUMP

  • Cazzo stanno facendo questi folli?

  • lolol...hmmmmm!!....madonna miaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!...hahahahahai i remember somebody who use to do that

  • ahah l'ultimo lo dice in napoletano.."Maronna miaaa"...

  • this helps me understand my husband more. lol he's pure Italian and sometimes he does somethings I don't understand CX this makes sense now.

  • Wow I discovered that in Mexico we do use some of those hand gestures! Looks like we do share more than just same flag colors, romance tongue origin, good cuisine and warm people.

  • molto buonno !!! Grazie Millie da São Paulo / Brasile !!!!

  • 1:25 this gesture is very close to one that mean

"you have loose screws in your head" in russia.

I guess italians could have a bit of misunderstanding in russian restaurants.

    XD

  • Mi scusi Pipidi paiditi tutititi papidi

  • come here in italian is veini qua more prononced ''veinica'' in sicilain, but to say to a person of respect say veini qui.

  • At 1:12 it doesn't mean "I'm scared", it means "Are you scared?"

  • YOU UNDERSTAND?

  • This reminds me so much of my Italian teacher. lol

  • Well, I must admit we use most of these gestures, but some of them have different meanings depending on the region.

  • I'm going to Italy in 3 weeks, and this video is so helpful!! And the phrases are useful ones, too! XD

  • My mom came from Italy back in 1920. My husband says I can't keep my hands still and if my hands were tied behind my back I couldn't talk. I don't know the symbolic language because by the time I was born it was pretty much lost in my family but the speaking with the hands? Instinctive!

  • 1:10 is actually "go away!" often with a dirty look, or speaking about someone else "he/she went away/fled".

1:14 is "you were scared, weren't you?" and implies mocking most of the times.

  • @h3ll0gudbye speaking Italian doesn't mean pizza, ciao and arrivederci... try to learn the grammar and so tell me how simply is it

  • AAAH this is funny! Italians are fun!

  • it doesnt matter what language you speak most of what is communicated is through body language.i would like to conclude that not all italians use such hand gestures, its most common in southern than northern.

  • Bellissimo!

  • i like it when they're laughing while doing the hand gestures... HAHAHAH!!!!

    stupendo! :D

  • Italians are beautiful !!!!!! I love you Italy !!!

  • @robertmazzo italians sucks.

  • @robertmazzo thank for the nice comment, before I watched this video I didn't know that it was a particular behavior of us Italians lol :)

  • @robertmazzo thanks lol

  • @robertmazzo grazie =)

  • World help Us Italians!

    Berlusconi MafiaMan!

    ♠WS♠

  • @WarSong92 your fucking stupid.mafia related shit is frowned upon in italy.only americans are intrigued by such subject.

  • @TheBusinessisgood Trust Me... Italy is in the Shit, berlusconi is one of the biggest mafia BOSSES.

He hate Italy, he loves only his money.

And, please don't use this language.

    Sorry for my bad English.

    Greetings from Italy,

    ♠WS♠

  • i am ITALIAN!!!!!

  • if you mix "che cosa dici" and "vai vai" it means "che fai" (put three fingers together like you're holding a strawberry and pretend you're shaking dice) LOL

  • I love the wonderful expression... Bellissimo !!

Wonderful word with a wonderful expression

  • sei bellissima

  • if you do that gesture to someone who has a good idea most of times you seems ridiculous....first see what italians do with gestures never start to use them. One other thing...the gesture meaning I don't care means also I don't know but not in a kind way.and you have to do it slow not so quickly rising a bit your head. never use gestures if you are in a formal situation better use it with friends or people you don't like.

  • if you make the gesture at 1:08 you're not saying you're leaving most of times you're saying to leave to the one you're speaking at!

  • what city is this?? :D

  • @bassist0915 i think it's the Tuscany

  • @bassist0915 I think it's Tuscany

  • the gesture that they indicate as "sorry" it doesn't mean simply sorry, more specifically it means "there is nothing left" "I have no more"

  • funy italians, rememreb me of pasolini decamron[

  • @NadasItaly Cortona? E un po' di Siena? (:

  • NADA ARE YOU IN FLORENCE I MISS ITALY MUCH I BEEN THERE 4 TIME MY WIFE IS FROM NAPOLI MY GRAND PA TO FROM META '

  • i am nigerian and i love italians...

  • Im going to be taking Italian in a couple semesters and can't wait. I get my Italian from my Fathers side and i definitley have the mouth like an italian. When I would be getting corrected or my mom was being stern and I kept running my mouth she would say, 'would you shut your damn mouth you Dego and listen?' hahaha. Lo amo la mia mamma. :)

  • @thelordsservant1 Amo la mia mamma.

  • LOL

  • ma qui cazzo sono questi cretini

  • @thePipeLayer100 Why would you want to say that? It's not only unneccesary to say, it's also dumb...:S

  • that's HILARIOUS and really helpful!! Thanks:)

  • @ghida44: yeah, complicated if you're an idiot. I don't know where you come from but italian is not complicated at all...complicated is Russian, Greek or Chinese. Go learn those and then come back and tell me how difficult Italian is.

  • @h3ll0gudbye why call someone els an Idiot?

Because they don't see Italian as easy. thats stupid.

Russian & chinese? HA! those are also easy.

TRY Icelandic or Swedish those are Difficult to learn.

  • I absolutely love this video--I come from a large Italian-American family (da Roma) and this video cracked me up. So fun!

  • @GQvizoXX Will I be ridiculous if I use these in Rome and Florence or is that okay?

  • Are these used throughout Italy?

  • Me piage

  • nice

  • It's so funny, I learned all of these hand gestures from my father. It's not something people in the States are used to seeing, but I catch myself using them everyday.

  • just around 60 pounds heavier

  • i like the leave & go away one...even though i don't really get it lol :D

  • i belive americans, arabs and most africans gesticulate so much as italians do maybe in a less performed way...

Italians, during the centuries, have been also the "clowns of Europe" with their travelling comedian theatre thorugh european courts...so they still borrow this very stereotyped watermark...is not Benigni the moste famous italian acotr nowadays???

  • @italieno well if you think that we have invented modern theatre.....we did need to perform some kind of act and this is probably reflected in everyday life by most italians.

  • @ghida44 Modern theare is not an italian invention The only alive theatre tradition in Italy was the Commedia del'Arte - we haven't had a tradition of theatre like in England or France...The gestures are probaly a coded way to communicate, but i don't think have nothing to do with performing theather...By the way.... many fo those "gestures" you are showing i think are completley out of fashion lik e the one"ho fame" or "the good Idea" ...who does that anymore in Italy? Almost none..

  • @italieno how pointless and boring this was. next time please save it to me. Go and ask Carlo Goldoni if he didn't invented modern theatre. Saluti!

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @ghida44 Carlo Goldoni wrote modern comedies, played on theatres to make the popular Commedia more feseable for higher social classes...but again is always comedy or tragi-comedies...Italy has never forstred a Sheakespeare or Ibsen or Strindberg the only exception is maybe Tasso....the rest is mostly comedies comedies and again comdies. Pirandello is a modern author but we are in the 1920s....think about, before answering in such a boring way

  • the first girl is really cute :] and thank you for someone actually posting a video like this real italian gestures. i have too much trouble tryin to explain this to all my friends every time i do them n they show me some stupid parody video and they think its real lol

  • alcuni no sono fatti bene altri verissimi
