His lips at 0:28-0:30 are just creepy. I don't really know why I find them creepy, maybe they're too thin for his face, maybe he's just pursing them somehow, but they're creepy.
LOL "I have a report here saying you nailed sir George's dog to the ceiling" "I couldn't have it barking while I was working sir" poor dog but I absolutely adore him he's awesomely creepy!!!
Teatime's more insane. The Joker isn't actually that insane when you look at him. He's quite precise and thinks things through. Teatime's just far-out mad. And boy, do we love him for it...

Teatime...I'm afraid I have quite an obsession, but then again, who wouldn't like an insane psychopathic Assassin with a mind like a broken mirror? I have to say he was better in the book though. Well, not BETTER, but DIFFERENT.
It stuns me that Marc Warren isn't more intergrated into mainstream cinema. He's just such an excellent actor, it's like he's born into the roles he plays. I've only ever seen him in British and Canadian films, but I hope America gets the picture soon. He's too much a talent to be wasted.
About to finish Hogfather for the second time in my life (this time in original language) and Teatime is definitely my fave character (again)! I think Marc does a great job, although I was a little suspicious first...
@DisworldGirl Maybe you should do it anyway, because if people ask and you tell them, you would be helping spread the awesomeness of who he is! And they'd watch the movie ^^
I guess, in theory, there could be a prequel dealing primarily with Teatime, but that would severely run the risk of "de-villaining" him. And I certainly hope we call all agree that Jonathan Teatime would not work as a good guy.
Well, maybe not dealing primarily with him, but just a little bit of text on his earlier life. There could at least be a cameo in one, like 'A young trainee Assassin smiled brightly at him. And kept on smiling.'
Or some sort of explanation for the eye. I don't believe in the hypothesis that he gouged it out himself. I just don't see him doing something as stupid as that.
True, but I doubt he'd GOUGE it out if so. He'd probably have some strange way of getting it out cleanly. Hey, come to think of it, he probably still has it in a jar in his dorm. And why not both? Plus it states in the book it was a freak accident.
He may be a follower of Blind Io. Heh.
It is not proven that it is a magic glass eye, which WOULD be an asset to a job like his, and there is no explanation as to why his original pupils are so small.
True, but I think you'd have to un-villain him to one degree or another to cast him as a central protagonist. Patrick Bateman and Dexter Morgan aren't entirely reprehensible figures, after all. If Teatime's part of the Assassin's Guild, you do get an easy out for his psychopathic behaviour in the sense that it'd be easy to have it directed at bad people, but you wouldn't be making him a puppy-hugging do-gooder.
That's why I don't think such a book should be written. If he became a protagonist, he'd become an antihero, and Teatime must always be kept as the nightmarish villain that he is. Even to show any good in him would undermine that. And then we'd just end up with Hannibal Rising.
I <3 Hannibal as an Anti-hero, though. I always thought there was a sympathetic side to him. He only kills people who are bad people, with the exception of when he has to kill for his own freedom. I think for Hannibal, it only makes him more compelling that you find yourself rooting for him half the time.
Teatime, on the other hand, is compelling because he's an insatiable killer who simply can not comprehend right and wrong, or concepts like compassion. Innocently evil.
oh my gwash i fink sum of tha laydiess myt agree wif meh when i say.... MARC WARREN iS EXTREMLY SEXiE :D LOL it has to0- beh sed and michelle dockery tha lucky fing got to beh held close by him ihn the flipin film !!!

Teatime only needs to be sit on a chair and speak very polite to scare

Then i show them this movie, they had never seen it and not read the books

I keep imagining Teatime as older than he is. I can't imagine why. But he's such a great character.

I'm afraid so. Pratchett has almost no recurring villains, but of these, Jonathan is easily the creepiest. Hooray for David Warner in this clip!

No? But blindness is often the price for wisdom in stories, and Mr. Teatime might've thought that having a magic glass eye was worth it.
